Deck the halls with boughs of Holly

A midweek morning post from me as I have a day off today. I am going to see Paula later. Sorry about the poor quality of the picture - it is very overcast and drizzly here today. I took some cardstock and used the SU very vintage wheel all over it then embossed with gold powder. The image is a digi freebie but I can't remember where from. The ticket is a freebie from this site Misscutiepie I have made the link to these tickets but there are other fab freebies on her blog. The holly and sentiment are Anna Griffin.
I'm entering this into Winter Wonderland who want to see Holly with red and green on your card.

Mouse splendid!

This mouse is most splendid. I got him courtesy of Spyder for entering her last challenge. He is a digi so I made him quite large and then used two patterns of pink embossed kraft paper behind him. I'm entering him into her new challenge which is open until 30 Sept.
I'm also entering him into
Papertake Weekly - animals
Cupcake crafts-pink and brown
Creatalicious-pink, brown and green

Flashback Friday 3.0

Over on Amy's blog she is asking us to show the first card made for a challenge. This card was made for Colour create and I posted it back in May 2009. When I looked back for the first challenge post I realised that I didn't even mention what challenge I was entering LOL! I thought as it was for "pink, lemon and chocolate" it would be Colour create and luckily someone from the challenge had left a comment which confirms it!
Take a look at Amy's blog, you won't be disappointed she has great taste and a fab eye for design.

It's hip to be square and Woody woodpecker

The challenge over on A Passion for Papertrey is  "hip to be square" use squares on your card or simply make a square card as long as you have one PTI product. I don't enter this challenge very often because I don't have a lot of PTI and it would get boring seeing the only two sets of paper I have! This card was originally going to be very CAS on Kraftcard but it looked boring. So I mounted it all onto some PTI and it still looked boring. Craft your Days Away have a challenge to do Autumn doodling so I thought I would give it a try with some sakura glitter gel pens. Still boring so I added the ribbon in the centre. I'm not 100% happy with the outcome.

We are very lucky at work to have some lovely green areas that attract wildlife. This little woodpecker has been showing up for a couple of weeks now so one of my colleagues took his picture.
It seemed like he knew he was having his picture taken, because that day, and that day only he came further towards the very edge of the grass. On the first picture he is really quiet a distance away but she used a zoom lens on her DLR.

This is the edge of the roadway outside our office and I was scared he would come all the way over and get mown down by a car!

stuck in Paris!

I decided to use the same background image from my last card but print it in pink. The lady is also from the Parisan CD and I scaled her down to fit the card and decoupage some of the layers of her outfit. The pink swirled DP is from My Craft Studio Opulent CDrom.
I'm entering it into Creative Inspirations challenge -pink and black and Creative Craft challenges - black and white and one other colour.
Do you remember a few posts back when I made the shoe and handbag card for the Mother of my OH. Well it was her birthday on Saturday and she surprised us both by not saying either of things we predicted she would say on seeing her card. Instead she said "it's b****y lovely"!!!

monochrome

Made using images from the Parisian CD rom again. The figure head is mounted on foam pads to raise above the background image. I put a rub on sentiment on the background paper image. I've used the challenge at Lots to do which is for monochrome.

Teal we meet again!

Couldn't resist that title. I have been making some more cards for Sue and her card drive, the cards have to be teal. I thought I would use my Parisian Chic CDrom as you can alter the colour of the dresses very easily. I've matted onto some My Minds Eye paper and used SU taken with teal cardstock punched down the edge. I used the SU boho blossoms punch for the flowers cut from the same MME paper and used a corner punch.
I sold all the items I put on ebay last week so very pleased especially as I got some good prices (more craft stash money!). I forgot how much effort it takes to pack it all though! Spent ages today doing that so want to try and get some more crafting done now.
I'm entering this into Papertake weekly -photo colour inspiration and Allsorts - use three punches.

This is another card I made using the same CD and more MME paper. The little pin was in a prize I won and it was just the right colour.

Off to get my washing in as Liverpool Lou says it is raining where she is and it is grey here - never noticed been so busy!

It's sew autumn

I'm really pleased with this card, this is the kind of card I wish I could make all the time! I've used a peach pearlescent card with a piece of DP from My Mind's eye "bloom and grow" collection. The dress form is an image from the web and the sewing machine is a digi from Digi Doodle shop. The background stamp is a tape measure I bought from ebay. All good until I realised I didn't have a block big enough to mount it. So.... I inked the stamp carefully placed the paper over it and then used a brayer to transfer the image. Bottom corner is a seal I made with my new toy - expect to see more of those! The sentiment is computer generated by myself and a punch used along the edge. Finally a piece of ribbon from my treasured stash.
I'm entering into the following challenges:-
Bugaboo -A stitch in time (Sewing notions with autumn colours)
Kaboodle Doodles - quilt picture as inspiration
Fab n funky - picture of a dress form cake! inspiration
Creative Card crew - autumn or fall
Stamp Something - use a digi
A Spoon full of sugar - fall into autumn

It's fashion

When I saw two challenges that wanted fashion images I knew I would be spoilt for choice as to what to use. I collect any fashion/sewing images and I have a lot, especially now I have begun buying CDs with them on too. I decided to use this digi image from Charmed Craft downloads. I'm also sending this card to Sue for her card drive for ovarian cancer, she wants cards that use the symbol colour of teal. She is also offering candy for anyone who sends her a card. Visit her at I can't draw but I can do this.
The challenges are Bee Crafty -fall into fashion, One Stop Crafts-fashion throughout the years.

Red, gold, white, some cupcakes and awards

The challenge on Colour create this week is Red, gold and white or cream. I've used the SU stamp again (!) put it with some Anna Griffin velvet ribbon and one of her sentiment embellishments. added some bling on the image and at the bottom. I think most people will be getting a card with this stamp on at Christmas I just love the effect.

I've also finished my cupcakes and made a lasagne - yes I am going for a rest now despite having not had time to play with my new wax and seals kit.
Here they are Pineapple and coconut from the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook. They have pieces of pineapple at the bottom of the cake and they have coconut milk in the cake and in the butter-cream. They didn't put cherries on the ones in the book but I thought it set them off nicely. they are big cakes, the recipe actually makes 12 if you use ordinary cupcases.
These are the lovely awards I've been given. I also have another one from Fiona but I am saving that so I can pass it on as I haven't seen it on many blogs. I think the ones below have been given to most people by now, I'm just catching up.

Thanks to Ann at Lovemaking Things for this one.
Three things I love about myself - My size 5 feet, my sense of humour and having a kind heart.
A picture I like, well I really like the one above with the cakes and it fits the award!

Thanks to Lynne from Cards from Lynne's loft for this one.

and to Kathleen from The Daisy Chain
Thanks to you all - you make blogland a lovely place to be. Right I am going for that sit down now before I have to go and fetch the OH.

A play on words

I just love this PTI sentiment. It comes with its' own set of stamps but this time I have teamed it with an SU stamp for a change. Ooh I think I might be getting this CAS at last! I'm entering into Cute Card Thursday challenge whose challlenge is "play on words".
Had to stay in today for a re-delivery of a parcel so made the most of it and blitzed the cleaning - it had to be done sometime! I also listed some things on ebay that I have been meaning to do for ages (not crafty!!), just need to find some packing materials now in case they sell!!! Off to put the topping on some cupcakes now - may share later if they turn out ok.

Tapestry stamps

I bought two sets of tapestry stamps a few weeks ago but this is the first time I have used them to make a wreath. I think I need some more practice but fairly pleased with it for my first go. The sentiment in the middle is an SU stamp.  I'm entering into Charisma Cardz challenge which is something new or that you haven't done before.
I got some more awards over the past week or so, I will be posting them. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I didn't appreciate them. Somehow I don't seem to have a lot of time at the moment! Maybe it is those nights drawing in and making me feel tired.
BTW the stamps are still half price at imagination crafts - see the link at the top of my sidebar. I'm tempted to get some more, but do I need them..........

Glitter and sparkles

I seem to be making cards with the same images at the moment! This one is for my OH Mum's birthday. I asked him if she would like it and he said "I know what she will say". Straightaway I thought she would say the bag and the shoes aren't in matching colours but he said no "she will say, it's been a long time since I could wear shoes like that!" so we will wait and see!
Now I have taken this picture so many times and I cannot get the glitter on the bag and shoe to show up, but trust me it does sparkle. The bag is not coloured by hand but the shoe is coloured with promarkers. The background is the SU very vintage wheel. I'm entering it into the glitter and sparkle challenge on Crafty cardmakers.
I entered a candy draw on my blogging buddy Ann's site "Love making things" and look what I won! I absolutely love it and the sweet card she made to go with it all. The stamps she used are from PTI.

CAS - yeh...

I started out to do a CAS card and yeh! I did it. Usually I end up putting other things on the card or having to cover some finger smudge! The main image is from a retired SU set. The sentiment is from an SU set that is about to retire. Just added a little bit of adhesive ribbon and that's it.
I'm entering it into these two challenges that want CAS this week. Crafty Cardmakers challenge and Secret Crafter Saturday challenge.

shoes and bag card

I've used two digi images from Chris Dark. It's ages since I've had a play with these. The DPs are LLB, the tag was leftover from a Kanban kit and the cardstock is SU. I'm entering it into Aud Sentiments challenge which this week the sentiment is Best Wishes.
I've had a lovely morning shopping. Got everything on my list and some freebies. My mobile phone company gave me a £20 HMV voucher when I renewed and you can use it in Waterstone's so with the 3 for 2 and another book I did very well all for 47p. Then I had a voucher from Good Housekeeping mag for a free metal pie plate from Lakeland. I wanted to go in there anyway to get baking parchment for my Angelina fibres (watch out for that!) so I asked if they had any left, which they did and it normally costs £14.99!!!!!

Here it is again....

Here is the same combo of stamps I used in my last posting but in a different colourway. In fact I used the hydrangea big and juicy for both of them, just move along a bit! I only have one pad at the moment but I am loving the way you can have one pad open and get so many different effects.
I'm not sure about the netting ribbon - maybe I should change it - what do you think?
I'm entering this into the first challenge on CES (Crafty Emma's Store) challenge - anything goes.
