The Book Club

The challenge on Daring Cardmakers this week is "The Book Club". I have the quote I created on the PC on a mug, and I wanted to use it with this image I got free from Paulette at Create with TLC. I just love the images she has it's like they were made especially for me! I also won $15 to spend in her store this week and have got some fab new images to play with.
I've used October afternoon papers (again!) they just had the right retro feel for the image and added an SU label stamp and sentiment.
I'd also like to enter the card into:-
Crafts and Me - use yellow

Hey Baby!

I'm feeling pretty pleased with this card as I managed not to buy any new stamps to make it! Instead I searched online for a freebie "baby suit" and paper pieced it using PTI papers. All the Papers are from PTI - Bitty Baby Blessings. I've used a lemon pearlescent card and added a Paula Pascal sentiment.

More spring inspired.........

More blatant use of October afternoon papers - I'm just using it instead of admiring it!!! I've also tried some new skin tones from a youtube video I saw, Burnt orange, sunkissed pink and coral. Hopefully she doesn't look too David Dickinson (an orange man on tv for those outside the UK!).
I really like the way the SU label stamp seems to echo the paper pattern. I stamped the three images using the label stamp then punched two circles and inked them in different colours and added a Paula Pascal sentiment.
The sketch I followed is from the challenge this week at All that Scraps. I would also like to enter the card into:-
Cupcake inspirations-pic inspiration
Kaboodle Doodles-spring has sprung
Totally Gorjuss-spring has sprung
I think losing that hour yesterday caught up with me. I slept through the first half of the Dancing on Ice final! My OH kept saying, you're falling asleep and I was saying "no I'm not"..............

Less is more sketch

This is my entry for the Less is More challenge this week, which is to use the sketch provided. I've used the Artsy Floral collection of stamps from Creative Expressions for this card. (Yeah another set sees ink!!!)  I masked off the top and bottom of the card and used just part of the large stamp that is the set. Then I was going to use the big daisy, but somehow it didn't look right so instead I went for the take part of the flower from the same set and then taking the middle section and mounting it up for a 3d effect. Now if I had the SU stamp pad in Tempting turquoise this would look much more co-ordinated, but this colour was the closet to the ribbon I had! Quite pleased with the effect and thanks to Chrissie and Mandi for pushing me to do something different.

to you from me

I've used a freebie sentiment from Paulette at Create with TLC, and then the inspiration came from there. I added minimum colour to the sentiment digi so as to blend with the main flower image. I used PTI "in bloom" set stamped onto black and white polka dot paper for the flower and onto green and white for the leaves. I left a comment this morning on someone's blog saying I preferred one card over another because I don't like stripes with flowers-now look what I went and did!!!
I'm entering this into Allsorts challenge- for a special lady. This card is for my neighbour who does lots of kind things for me and is a very special friend.

Pretty Ballerina

These are some cards I have made for girls on Postpals who like Ballet. They are from a Forever Friends decoupage kit that I won amongst some other things. I've used a preprinted card from Docrafts which has a very pale pink pattern on it. If you have a card to spare, why not send it to one of the Postpals and brighten their day.
I'm entering the cards into the Forever Friends challenge who are having a blog candy to relaunch their challenge site -open until 1 April.

Spring Bird Day!

With the lovely weather we have been enjoying the past couple of days I was really inspired to create a lovely spring card, and this is what I came up with. All the papers are from my scrapbox, even the half a nestie. The shrink plastic is a stamp I have called "faith" and the other embellies are from American Crafts range " Dear Lizzy". I've used two banana frog stamps for the sentiments.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:-
Sir Stampalot - spring is in the air
Colour create-pastel colours
Stamp Something- spring somethings
Polka Doodles-The spring has sprung
Papercutz-3 patterned papers in any colours
Stamps R Us-celebrate spring

Your sew sweet

This is my second post for today, please scroll down for the first one.
As regulars will know I am a sucker for anything sewing related and this Kraftin Kimmie stamp is no exception! I've used two October afternoon papers, the sentiment comes with the stamp. I then added two heart buttons with some garden twine threaded through them.
I'm entering this into:-
Kraftin Kimmie Stamps challenge - buttons
ABC challenge - quilting/sewing
Simon Says-Mothers day/girly
Crafty Creations-in stitches
Totally Gorjuss-buttons

Going postal

When I saw the challenge over on Daring Cardmakers for "going postal" I just knew it was time to use my Clarity postage outline stamps. The shoes and handbag from Hero Arts fit perfectly and I added a Hero Arts Lady too. The sentiment and postmark and freebies with my last order from Crafty Indviduals (lovely surprise as there were quite a few of them). Added the little butterfly and watch as it seemed too sparse. All mounted onto PTI papers.
I'm also entering this card into Crafts and Me challenge which is "anything goes".
I'm going to be doing another post very soon after this one, as I have just realised that a challenge will end before I can post again!

A horsey card

This card started life as a bit of a CASE of a Sue Wilson card where she had threaded some paper through a cut nestie circle. I've adapted it slightly and ended up covering most of the centre detail, but I thought this horse from K&Co went well with the colours. The colours were used for a specific challenge, which I found has now closed - doh! I'm being brave again by cutting into yet more 12x12 papers, this time from SU.
This is inside the card, used another nestie label and SU sentiment stamps.
I'd like to enter this card into these challenges:- Digi Doodle Shop's Best-anything goes, Creative Card Crew - no stamps and Crafty Sentiments Designs - animals.

Steep, stir and enjoy....

I decided I wanted to use my PTI tea stamps again but this time with plain card and use one of the small sentiments so it looked reminiscent of the tea pots etc you see like this (although normally cream!). I also wanted to use my new Craftwork paper pad I got free with a magazine, and create a bit of a Cath Kidston look. The shape of the card was a bit of a fluke as I had this piece of cake crumb card -went to score it and thought, oooh I could leave a bit hanging over the edge and put the other elements down the side - voila!
I'm entering it into:-
C.R.A.F.T. challenge - paper piecing
Stamptacular Sunday-Are you talking to me -sentiment is focal point
Oldie but goodie - pink/blue/brown

Hang out the bunting

As soon as I saw the sketch on Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge I knew I wanted to use this fab paper from American Crafts from the Dear Lizzy range. I've cut into a 12x12 piece to create this card. I was also inspired to use my as yet uninked Unity stamp set by the Polka Doodles challenge who want to see "books". I added some American Craft embellies to the corners and a butterfly from a spring set free with a mag last year. After I used the SU sage cardstock for the image I felt it was a little dull so I added a sprinkling of glitter to the whole image. I'm also entering it into the Simon Says Stamp challenge - Happy Birthday.

Howzat!

This is the card I have made for the Less is More challenge this week where the theme is masculine. I've used a flowersoft stamp inked in heritage brown ink and then drawn the colour from the stamp with a water brush. Added some hints of green with my H20s and a watercolour pencil. The boy is cut out and raised on mats, he was going to be flat but on the first version the sentiment smudged! So I thought I would rescue him and start again. I quite like the effect though maybe better than if it had been one layer.

Mother's day

I have used the MCS Fab Glam Fifties cd rom to print the front and back of this mannequin onto a piece of card, then I scored it and cut away most of the outline, leaving just enough for it to be able to stand up. Add three tiny bits of bling, and some ribbon around the waist. The sentiment and flower stamps are from Paula Pascale. I've made this card for OH Mum, she is so appreciative of my cards and takes them over the road to her friend to show her what my latest creation is.
The Less is more challenge this week is masculine - oh dear, time to put away all the girly fashion stamps and dig out something manly!
I'm entering this card into:-

Papertake weekly - three of something (bling)

In the kitchen

This is an image that Mo Manning is selling at the moment for only $1 to raise money to help those in the disaster in Japan. I was more than happy to buy her to add to the fund she is raising and couldn't resist using her on a card right away. You can read about it on Jak Heath's blog here.

I was going to put her with some retro images of cooking which I think she would suit just as well, however this card is for a young lady who is about to be 9 so I thought she would appreciate the cupcakes more.
I'm entering it into these challenges:-
Stamp something - something sweet
Stamptacular Sunday - sketch used
Stamps R us - in the kitchen

Springtime

I was looking through my growing mound of free papers (didn't I decide I was going to use them -- ahem!) and found these tulip papers which I just had to use. I've added some SU butterflies from the butterfly print set, punched with the SU butterfly punch, and an SU sentiment. The smaller butterfly is a tapestry stamp. I then punched some butterflies using a MS punch out of paper stamped with the SU butterfly (does that make sense??).
I'd like to enter this card into:-
Flutterby Wednesday-anything as long as it has wings
Bling it on - anything goes
The Pink Elephant - Springtime
Crafty Calendar - Spring

Lemon zingy plus an award

I really had fun making this card. I cut into some luscious 12x12 yellow paper I have and then added some brown woodgrain effect below to look like a dest top. The green sparkly ribbon to represent grass as if you are looking out of a window. I got the template for the typewriter from Papercraft inspirations. I cut out all the elements and then decorated it with SU trendy trees stamp (I really must use that set as trees soon, only used it for background effects so far LOL!). I used a PTI fillable frame and put a Paula Pascale sentiment inside.
The idea for this card came from this picture in the magazine.
I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-
Crafty Catz-Yellow and green
Papertake weekly-Lemon zingy

Now I have been a bad blogger. The lovely Fiona at Lil Daffodil gave me this award last week and I forgot to blog it.

Thanks Fiona. I have to tell you seven facts and pass it on to 15 bloggers. Well dear readers, I do not have the stamina for passing it to 15 bloggers - I'm sorry, but those of you that do this know it is very labour intensive. So if you would like this award please help yourself. I will now try and must up 7 facts!
1 Suzi at Sugar n Spice was my first follower
2 Fiona at Lil Daffodil was in the first five of my followers
3 I saw Tony Robinson from Time Team/Baldrick fame in London last year when I was on my lunchbreak
4 I'm going to the Barbara Gray workshop in August in Nottingham - yipee (anyone else going?)
5 I love a good bargain - a crafty one even better!
6 I spend too much time blog hopping and not enough creating
7 I have more inspiration from looking at your blogs than I can ever put into practice!

Off the page

My second post for today.
This is the card I have made for the Less is More challenge this week - which is "off the page" one layer card. I resisted the urge to use my large SU medallion stamp - because been there done that loads. So I got this SU set out which I haven't really used since Victoria's class last year. I really like how this turned out, especially as I had to stamp direct to the card.
I'm also entering the card into:-
Stampin' for the weekend -springtime
By the cute and girly - springtime
One Stop Craft Challenge - clean and simple

I was in a bit of a lavender mood today (well it is my fav colour) as I bought this when I went shopping - half price in Past Times! In fact all the jewellery is half price at the moment.

Men and cars

I used my MCS Fab Glam Fifties cdrom to make this card. There aren't too many male specific images on there but I decided to use this background and car and then add the man (who is called Ken, but I think looks a bit Cary Grant!). I have actually cut out the man and car again and decoupaged them over and IRL it looks really effective, just can't capture it on camera. I also used the word art on the cdrom to arch the HB wording over the window.
I'm entering this card into Oooh-la-la , CES challenges and Moving along with the Times who all want to see male cards this week.

Happiness is.......

When I saw this sentiment from Paulette at Create with TLC I knew I wanted to make a card with it. I have had my PTI "tea" stamps for a few months now and this is the first time they have seen ink. I was just waiting for all the right elements to come along! I've used the bunting from the Molly Bloom stamps which are free with the new magazine "Homemade". I paper pieced some of the bunting using watercolour pencils for the rest, I also paper pieced the cup and teapot using PTI papers. The teapot looks close to the nestie on the picture, but it is actually raised up on pads and IRL looks fine!
I'm making this a second entry into "Less is more" - pastels (I think I got more than enough inspiration from the lovely cards over there this week)  and I would also like to enter it into:-
 A Passion for Papertrey-paper piecing
 Simon Says - Anything Goes.

The artist and an award

I bought this Kraftin Kimmie stamp specifically to make a card for someone who paints. When I came to use the sentiment I realised of course they had used the American spelling of Colour, so it says "color me happy" - I just couldn't use it, pedantic I know but there you go! So it has ended up with a good old SU Happy Birthday sentiment instead.
I bought some digital inches from one of my fav artists Zorana - I thought one of them fitted perfectly onto the easel as a half painted canvas. I've used My Minds eye papers and some SU plain cardstock. added some garden twine and buttons and a small token bit of bling.
I'm entering it into these challenges:-
Simon Says - recipe - 2 patt papers, plain for layering and 3 different embellies
Bling it on - anything goes
Kraftin Kimmie-use twine or floss
Ladybug Crafts Ink - spring colours

Thanks to Chris at Bling-kin-eck and Mass of Hair at So much to Learn who have both given me this award this week - thanks so much for thinking of me.
The rules for this seem to differ but one take on it is to share something unusual about myself. Well I found out today from the physio that I have very flexible knees. Apparently this is what may be causing the pain in my knee - I've even got to learn how to stand differently because unbeknown to me I am putting extra pressure on my knee!
Seven new blogs I have discovered and would like to pass the award to are:-
Rubber side down
Gibmiss
CraftyHallett
Can't stop crafting
Keeping in touch
Grenouille Greetings
Mitchypoo's crafting blog
All discovered through the great challenge Less is More.

She's a TEENAGER!

I've been planning a card in my head for this teenager for a few weeks now. I knew I wanted to use the digi site "wordle" to make a background from appropriate sentiments to celebrate the day and her name, as it is unusual and you never get anything with her name printed on it. It's for my OH Granddaughter and he always likes to have the word "granddaughter" on his card.
I have had the Whiff of Joy stamp for a while and she seemed to go so well with these two new stamps I got this week from Crafts and me from the new Lemon Shortbread collection. I bought a third one, but she is drinking a Martini so not really appropriate for a 13 year old!
Added some punched shoes and bling and some fabric flowers from my stash.
I would like to enter the card into the following challenges:-
Allsorts-for a teenager
Cupcake crafts-pink polka dots
Digital Tuesday-celebrations (the digi is the wordart)
Passion for Promarkers-sugar rush
Crafty sentiments-birthdays
Crafty Catz-special birthday
Papertake Weekly -anything goes

Less is more - pastels

This is my card for this week's challenge on Less is More. Not exactly what I set out to do - I used my chalks with this dragonfly stamp that I have had since year dot and not used for ages. At least I didn't trap my finger in the crocodile clip that comes with the cotton balls for the chalks this time - done that before and soooo painful.
