Girly inspired

I used MCS Fab Glam fifties cd rom to make this card. The main dress is one of the digis which I printed and coloured in with promarkers.
I'd  like to enter this card into I love Promarkers challenge - anything goes and Digital Tuesday challenge #188 - girly.

Hello to my new followers - thanks for joining me.

I survived the MRI scan but only just! I do not get claustrophobic, but when they put me in, I just freaked a little inside, I could heart my heart pounding in my ears. I just squeezed my eyes tightly and tried to think of other things.

Inspired by nature

Look familiar? Yes poppies again from me and for the second day butterflies. You know how it is when you just get stuck on a theme!
The challenge on CD Sunday this week is "inspired by nature". So I have used MCS cd rom Quintessential Country Garden. First I chose a background paper from the cdrom and then imposed the poppies, flourishes, tiny butterflies and wording onto it using MCS software. I just love calligraphy, so was attracted to the "butterflies" wording. The sentiment I did myself using an oriental font. I then cut a few butterflies with spellbinder dies, added some sparkle to their wings and tiny bits of bling, added some sparkle to the letter "B" too. I inked the base card around the edges and applied some to the edge of the paper and the poppies to make them stand out more.
I'm off out soon. Not for a night on the town but for an MRI scan, at can you believe it 8.40pm! (if you work in a hospital you probably can!). I don't feel like I can settle to anything - just hope I don't fall asleep in the scanner!

B for butterfly

I decided to break open a whole paperpad  after having looked at it for well over a year! It's the Mariposa stack from DCWV. Most of the papers and elements on this card are from the stack apart from the sewing elements which I had left over from cutting out shapes for a card a while ago. the large butterfly in the top right corner is actually an acetate sticker, but the colours were just right for this card.
I'd like to enter this card into the ABC challenge - B is for butterfly.

Be sure to visit Studio 12 at Polkadoodles - Nikki is giving away a fabulous £50 of Polkadoodles goodies to some lucky person this month. All you have to do is follow the blog, mention it on your blog and leave a comment on the post here.

Red, green, purple and blue

Last month I got a "highly desirable" for this card over at Vintage Stamping challenge. So I am entering again.  Now while I resisted getting out a fashion stamp yesterday, today is as they say "another story". I've used a stamp from Crafty Individuals and cut it into two, leaving the text image to go separately on the card. I've coloured the image using aqua markers and edged all the DCWV papers with red and lavender inks. I cut all the buttons and other elements from scraps of  DCWV papers that I had. I am also entering it into the snippets challenge over at Pixies crafty Workshop week 48.

LIM Week 95 Recipe Glamour and Glitz

The challenge on Less is More this week is glamour and glitz. My first reaction was to reach for one of my many fashion stamps, but I decided instead to christen a new Clarity stamp - the moon, stamped with London fog memento ink and embossed with stardust embossing powder. I used an Anna Griffin sentiment and the main image is from Lavina. Stamped and embossed with clear powder and diamond dazzles"butterfly trails" liberally applied all over - with autumn fire glitter on the Chinese lantern.
I'd also like to enter this card into these challenges:-
Allsorts - bring on the bling
Delicious doodles - something that flies
Creative card crew - anything goes
Cute Card Thursday - girls only

Sorry for my lack of commenting and posting this week. I was away with work.

Layer it up

This is a card made using elements from the Joanna Sheen cd rom Viva La Divas. It is not easy to see from the photo but I have decoupaged the chair and the lady sitting on the chair - two layers, and then the presents on the floor with the blue parcel.
I'd like to enter this card into the challenge on CD Sunday - layer it up.

Any die will do - mid month inspiration

Morning everyone, we have had a bit of a frost here overnight but it looks a bright day so far.
Our challenge at Penny Black & More this month is for "Any die will do" and we are providing a little mid month inspiration for you. This is my card made using PB "Hello Gorgeous" stamp set, I stamped one of the images and them paper pieced her outfit and bag. I didn't have to paper piece the shoes as they come like that! still fiddly to cut around. I mounted them up onto buttons the button dies that come with the TH mannequin die I've used. I made the skirt from strips of washi tape - my first real go at using this and I can now understand why everyone raves about it, so easy to use. I topped the mannequin with the necklace stamp from the "hello gorgeous" set too.
Thanks for looking and I do hope you can join in the challenge as there are as always some fab prizes to be won. Even if you have entered you can do so again, just remember you can use any stamp as long as it is the focal point, but no digis allowed. We also have our monthly chance to join as GD for a month.

I'd also like to enter this card into the challenge at Paperplay, who want to see paper piecing.

LIM week 94 - hardware

The challenge on Less is More this week is "hardware". I have got quite a few metal charms and I had those out as I never remember to use them, but in the end these snowflake brads won. I also remembered these tiles that I bought many years ago and haven't used hardly any of them.
For the first card I used the CC embossing border for the snowflakes and added a Paula Pascale sentiment.

This was actually my first card but it didn't turn out quite how I hoped. I used two different snowflakes from a Creative Inspirations stamp set called snowflakes and music. I stamped the first directly onto the card. Then stamped the second one using some meltdust, cut around and secured with the brad.

You might notice I have changed my blog. The header is of some poppies in my garden which I took a few years ago.

I went to hospital for balance tests on Tuesday, you can read about the experience in an earlier post. Unfortunately I am not feeling at all well today. I tried to go out earlier on foot and had to come back as the whole experience was not a good one. I do hope I am not back to square one again with my balance.

Punches and dies with poppies.....

As you can see I have gone to town with new dies, old dies and poppies! This time the image is from A Day for Daisies and the poem is a Clarity Stamp. My new die lite poppies and the first time I have used my memory box fence die, it is on there twice but you can only really pick up the one on the left from the photo. All mounted onto an embossed panel using the new A4 mbossibilities.
This is my second entry for the Papertake weekly challenge - where they want flower power!

Feeling under the weather?

I've given you a little break from the Poppies, but only until later today - I have quite a stunning creation to share with you, if I do say so myself!
This card was inspired by the challenge on CD Sunday - rainy days. I've used Funky Divas - Kerry Jo CD rom from Debbi Moore. I decided to make it into a get well card but added a tiny amount of stardust stickles onto the raindrops and puddles to give it a bit of a lift. I punched the umbrellas out and used resplendent rectangles dies.
I'd like to enter this into Crafty Cardmakers - now I have read the challenge again - which is for More than one punch and/or die cut.
I'd also like to make this my second entry into Craft room challenge -punches and die cuts
.

To die for

I'm still working my way through the poppy images I stamped and printed last week. This card combines poppy images from a MCS cd rom Quintessential Country Garden and a Acrylic poppy stamp heat embossed with black sparkle wow powder. I then added some extra red lines to the stamped poppies with a promarker. I cut the image out using part of a Grand Nestie labels 23.  I've used Spellbinder Asian accents along the edge, in the corners and for the sentiment label.

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges:-

Crafty cardmakers -more than one punch and /or die cut
Craft room challenge - punches and die cuts
Addicted to stamps and more - red and white
Papertake Weekly -flower power

I went to the hospital on Tuesday for some balance tests. Although they warned me I would need someone with me I was not prepared for the experience. It started off ok, being strapped into a chair with some heavy goggles - felt a bit like Joe 90 - if you remember him. I had to follow lights with my eyes and not move my head. But then they tipped me back and put water through one ear at a time to bring on dizziness. I felt so awful, and all the time I had to shout out names working my way through the alphabet which was apparently to prevent my brain from shutting down! A normal response is that the eye would move 10 times a second but mine moved 119/120 times a second. I felt so sick afterwards and had to take yesterday off work too. All this has now shown that my eye is jerking slightly and I can be given exercises to correct it - so I am not imagining it - good!  and roll on the next appointment for the exercises. I was too ill to try any on Tuesday.

Poppies and plaid

There will be poppy cards for a few more days yet! This time I used the memory box die and yes yet again the Gina K pad of papers. I stamped this jar onto some of her plaid paper from the collection. I added the word "poppies" to the tag in my own handwriting - none of the other sentiments fitted, but instead I stamped them down the edge of the card. I'm really pleased with how this one turned out, such a cheery card.
I'd like to enter it into Kaboodle Doodles challenge - use plaid and One Stop Craft Challenge - anything goes.
Just to say that the giant cupcake I showed yesterday was greeted by lots of oohs and aahs and when are we cutting it, when I arrived with it at work this morning. Demolished in a matter of minutes!

Poppies and remembrance

Of course i have been making lots of cards with Poppies as I love them so much and have so many images. However, I have chosen to use the Crafty Indviduals stamp again for this card, this time I embossed using black detail powder onto red card. I added a PTI sentiment into the picture. The background paper is by Gina K. I cut the card base and layers using one of the Grand nestabilities, leaving the edges attached to make the card base.
I'd like to enter this card into these challenges:-
Delicious Doodles - remembrance
That Craft Place - red for remembrance
Aud Sentiments - thanks

This is my first go at a giant cupcake. If you realise that this is a dinner plate it is placed on, then you will get the idea of the scale. Someone asked me to make one for them, and I wanted a practice run so this will be going to work tomorrow to be devoured!

LIM week 93 - houses (one layer)

The challenge on Less is More this week is "houses" with a one layer card. To begin with I could only think of one house stamp I have. Which is a bit odd as I collect miniature houses and surely this would have transferred into stamps? Well, yes, when I started to go through the edges of my stash, houses were coming out all over the place! To begin with I chose to use a memory box die and made this first card, lightly brushed with TH inks and a PTI sentiment added.
Then I found this stamp which of course I should have remembered as the cross stitch picture of it hangs in my living room - see below! As it is a large stamp I just inked it up from a big and juicy blue pallet and then with a water brush pulled a little of the colour from the ink.

Then I had one last go using a Clarity stamp of houses. I added a PTI sentiment and am also entering this into the Craft a Scene challenge - troubled skies.

Bliss

I've been experimenting further with the cosmic shimmer sprays and some basic masking. The first one is a little more of a CAS style and the second one I went in for more of the spraying! I've used a SU stamp set for these cards.
I'd like to enter these into the Papertake Weekly challenge - anything goes and the Crafty Catz challenge - anything goes.
Not getting too much crafting done at the moment as the colder weather makes me want to just curl up on the settee!

Red's for remembrance

I've used a few new things on this card. A poppies mask for the backgroud, Gina K poppies print papers and a stamp from Crafty indviduals, which I have had a while but it hasn't seen ink.
The "Birthday" is from a larger sentiment stamp and I masked it to just get the greeting and the "wishes" is from a warm wishes stamp from Paula Pascale and again I masked the "warm" part so it didn't show.
I'd like to enter this card into these challenges-
Creative Inspirations - Red's for Rembrance
Crafts and Me - reds
Crafty Sentiments - poppies

Christmas in pink

The theme on CD Sunday this week is Christmas in Pink. I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but thought I might try and colourise a design on the CC Snowman CD rom. Well I didn't need to as this design was already there in pink. I really like the way it turned out, it's a beautiful little rocker card, and so am going to do it for the younger ones as the Christmas card for this year. I cut the buttons using a spellbinder die as I thought it was easier than trying to cut around them, and unlike a punch you get the four holes in the middle too. The snowman is three layers decoupaged.

snowflake

I have some sticky glitter vinyl and I thought I would use one of the spellbinder snowflakes with it. However, it would not cut through all the way! Rather than waste it, I roughly trimmed around it and then put another die in the centre with a stamped sentiment. I quite like it!
I'd like to enter it into the challenges on:-
Divas by Design - festive
Kaboodle Doodles - anything goes

Any die will do challenge at Penny Black & More

Our challenge at Penny Black & More this month is "Any Die Will Do". I've used a TH die which I thought reflected the image on the stamp itself,  Words so sweet 4256K I've also used a Flonz sentiment from a set of Flonz greeting stamps.
I sprayed the cage and bird wings, along with the flowers with C&C iridescent glitter spray, I tried to pick it up better in the closer second image.
I do hope you can join us this month, remember you don't have to use a PB stamp to join in. I look forward to seeing your creations.

LIM week 92 - PINK

I was a little ahead of the curve with the challenge on Less Is More this week - which is Pink. I had the roller skating girl already printed, can't remember where from or what she was going to be for, but she is in Pink! Likewise the dress was already done, when I had my resist technique fad, but this one hadn't made it onto a card - yet again Pink! The frame for the dress card is part of a much larger stamp with a lady on it, that hasn't actually seen ink yet in it's fullest form.

Beautiful blue

I just got a sampler cd rom "The Tales of Beatrix Potter" as a free gift from C&C members club. So I decided to use it for the challenge on CD Sunday - beautiful blue. I printed a sheet of the borders from the cdrom and two background papers. I then stamped the main image and sentiment using the co-ordinating stamps I already have. I coloured the rabbit with promarkers. I've used the resplendent rectangles dies from spellbinders for the mats and a fancy tag label for the sentiment.
I'd also like to enter this card into
I love Promarkers challenge - cute
Fab 'n' Funky challenge - dies/punches

Well everyone survived my baking at work (see my last post) and we raised £150 for Macmillian. There were some really inventive cakes and we all had a great time, but ate too much!
