LIM use scallops

I've actually been busy all day - doing something! Finally I got chance to create this card for the challenge on Less is More this week, which is scallops. I knew I wanted to use the Spellbinder Asian accents die as I love these scallops it creates. I then decided to use this little lady who had yet to see ink, paper pieced her dress and added some highlights to it with a fleximarker. She is from a set designed by Sheena Douglass.

Rudolph Day

A super quick card for Sarn's Rudolph Day. I cased the card from this one here. I had some glitter that was left from other projects and didn't want to throw it away, I also couldn't put it back in the pot as I had contaminated it with some other glitter, so I used spray glue on the die cut and then whacked on the glitter LOL! Backed with a piece of SU old navy card and embossed sentiment, added a little glue pen and some diamond sparkles for stars. I'm also taking into the playground Pixie's Crafty Snippets #65 as I used snippets for the elements and left over glitter.
Can you believe I made a Christmas card and I still have Easter cards to make!

Deco Delights

I've never had any glitter girl embossing boards before, but the art deco one caught my eye and I thought it would be a change for a background for my stamps. This is my first attempt using it, I think I need a bit more practice, but ok for now. I cut some additional elements with spellbinder dies. The stamp is from Papermania part of their Art Deco collection, which I coloured with promarkers.
I'd like to enter this card into these challenges

Crafty Creations - embossing (wet or dry)
I love Promarkers - anything goes

LIM week 112 - use beads and some fresh bread!

If you look at the post below, you will see that this is the positive I had left over from the die cut. Seemed a shame to waste it, so when I saw today's Less is More challenge, I thought why not add some free beads I have had hanging around for ages to it.
I'm also entering it into the Die Cut challenge on Charisma Cardz challenge.

Before I could get on with my card today, I was booked onto a bread making workshop. It wasn't cancelled due to the snow and the roads were clear once I reached the main ones, however, when I got to the car park, I got stuck and lost traction! I managed to let the car slide back about a dozen times and eventually by slowing turning gained traction and managed to park - scary though.
I made bread years ago, but recently had an urge to make some again,  so thought I would go to a workshop and maybe get it out of my system rather than get frustrated at home. I learnt a new technique of hardly kneading the bread and a reduced proving time, so was pleased. Here's what I made, a loaf with poppy seeds and chelsea buns.

Inspired by a blog header

I was watching Sue Wilson at the weekend on C&C and she did this technique of slotting dies into one another, so I thought I would give it a go too. Rather than just put paper behind the aperture, you actually cut the die out again and place it in the space left behind. So the poppy die has been used to cut from the red spotted paper. The middle panel is actually debossed on the edges, because I wanted to show the embossing around the poppies die and I probably cut it out the wrong way around!

I share a love of Poppies with Brenda on Floral Fantasies and she has a comp running to design a card based on her blog, so I chose her blog header with the poppies.

I'd also like to enter this card into the Friendship card challenge on Crafty Cardmakers.

However, I like the effect. I then went on to try again with this card but with out the embossing showing around the poppies.

mid month reminder for Penny Black & more @ Allsorts - one for the boys

Just a reminder about our challenge over at Penny Black & More @ Allsorts, where the theme this month is "One for the boys". Here is my second card for this theme, this time using papers from Kanban, some tinfoil stuck to card and then run through a wood effect embossing folder and PB 1658L "Cheesecake message" and for the main sentiment PB 3942F "live life", Happy birthday is from "wishes" PB 30-103.
I do hope you can come and join us, and get a "male" card into your stash pile.

LIM week 111 - Frame it

I felt I had this idea in my head when I saw the challenge of Less is More this week - "Frame it". However, it has not turned out exactly how I imagined - does it ever?
I've used some SU card and a washable sentiment from Alli at Clever Cuts, although designed to take ink, I chose to leave it white. I embossed the base piece of card with swiss dots and then cut a nestie shape out of it, cutting the larger nestie to frame the sentiment.
Sorry I haven't been doing much commenting, I was away with work for two days this week and then had other things to see to!

Butterfly snippets

Well after a couple of manic days working away, I got two days off. But yesterday was manic at home too! However, today, I made it to the craft room - yipee! I was waiting in today for my new freezer to be delivered  between 7 and 2. Luckily for me they came at 7.15am so I didn't have the day bobbing up and down making sure I didn't miss them (as you do!).
Onto the card.... I've had the centre butterfly sitting on my desk for a while left over from some paper I printed from a Debbi Moore CD rom and cut out with a spellbinder die. So I went from there, going in the snippet box to find the background SU paper and embossing and inking, and then using a mask from clever cut to emboss and cut out the larger butterfly from a piece of coredinations cardstock in the snippet box, embossed with SU manhattan flower folder. I then sanded it back and applied a sliver gleam to the embossed flowers. Finally the cardstock is stamped with a creative expressions rose background stamp.
I'd like to enter this card into the playground at Pixie's crafty snippets #63 and into the challenge at Cute Card Thursday - anything goes.

Land of the Pharaohs @ CD Sunday

I got a free CDrom from Debbie Moore called Egyptian Promise. It is not the sort of CD rom I would buy as I am not sure when I would use it or for who! However, it has come in handy for the challenge at CD Sunday this week, which is Land of the Paraoahs.
I first stencilled the background of the card with a grid mask, but that hasn't shown up so well in the photo...
All the elements are printed from the cd rom and lightly inked around the edges with TH peacock feathers. I then added a little piece of printed papyrus which I got on a card myself years and years ago. It was too nice to throw away so I kept it and now it has found a place.

Spring is in the air.....

We've had snow on and off all day today, so not sure Spring is particularly in the air yet! I don't feel as bad today, thanks for all your good wishes, just a seasonal bug which is lingering.
I've used my new Graphic 45 stamps for this card and as I cannot get hold of the papers (sold out everywhere) I broke into two sheets of my Websters paper pad. I've used TH sparkling lemonade and shaded lilac to colour the image and then peacock feathers to stamp the main sentiment. To cut around the image I have used the new spellbinder A2 distressed edges die. It doesn't fit exactly so I kept moving it around to get the desired effect. I can't tell you how much I love this die, to be able to cut a perfect distressed edge is marvellous to me!
Although it has no bunnies etc hopefully it is allowed at the challenge at Allsorts for Springtime and for Vintage Stamping - spring is in the air.

LIM week 110 - spots and stripes on one layer

The challenge on Less is More this week is the dreaded one layer and spots and stripes. Well I am suffering with a bug and thought I wouldn't bother as nothing occurred to me. However, I was looking at a MCS cdrom for something else when I spied this little zebra - and well, it went from there!
I used MCS Collectors Edition Kids NSR for the zebra and MCS The finishing touch CDrom for the stripes, spots and background papers. All edited in MCS and printed as one layer.
Off for a rest now.......

Green....

Two posts in one evening! But if I don't post this now I am not sure when I will get time to post it. this is the card I have made for my MIL. I used my new Spellbinders gold imperial dies which deboss as well as all the standard things they did before. I just love the effects they give. The sentiment was free from a magazine and it did say "happy" but it was too wide for the card!
I'd like to enter this card into the challenges at
Allsorts - for a Lady
Simon Says Stamp - bit 'O green
Papertake Weekly -anything goes option of Mother's day card
Crafty Creations - show us some green

Butterflies @ CD Sunday

I've made this card using the MCS cd rom The Collectors Edition - Ladies disc. I printed all the panels and mounted them onto some mirri card, using a corner rounder on the edges,  then used the tools to change the colour of the butterfly to match the card. I added some matching ribbon and a little diamond sparkles to the butterfly and sentiment.
I had a printed panel left over so decided to make a matching bookmark, adding a PTI butterfly stamp and the sentiment "love laugh live".

I'd like to enter this into the challenge at CD Sunday for "butterflies".

My four legged friend

This digistamp called Hugo reminds me so much of the westie I used to have called Angus. I can't remember where I got him from though! I made this card for one of my teamies at Penny Black & More who just got a westie of her own. I've used some SU papers and lightly inked around with TH inks, using promarkers to add a touch of colour to the image and some little gold stickers for the prints, bone and heart. A strip of washi tape completes the card.
I'd like to enter this card into
Simon Says Stamp- anything goes
That Craft Place Challenge - anything goes!
Ooh la la Creations - Our four legged friends

I went to the Valentino exhibition at Somerset house at the weekend in London. I was in my element, all those lovely clothes and samples of the techniques and a video to watch, as well as some original sketches. It took me and my friend 2.5 hours to get around it all. You weren't allowed to take photos so this is the best I can do(courtesy of the internet) - it shows part of the catwalk displaying the dresses, the black and white one in the middle is the one Julia Roberts wore when she got an Oscar.

One for the boys at Penny Black & More this month

Our challenge at Penny Black & More @ Allsorts this month is "One for the boys". I admit I like the girly cards but this was fun to go out of my comfort zone. I used the bus from PB Love London 30-093 and masked off the "London" from the bus and inserted my own greeting. I also punched the cat running for bus out with a circle punch and popped him up on foam pads outside of the main image.
I tried another new technique for me which was to cut out the nestie shapes from each mount,  rather than mount  up  the nestie shapes themselves (hope that makes sense).  I also created two embossed backgrounds with a SU wheel and used sliver and gold powers to heat emboss. The TH die cut clock cut into two and Hunkydory embellishments complete the card.
I do hope you can join us this month and do go and look at all the fabulous inspiration my fellow teamies have supplied.

Hugs and wishes at CD Sunday

I said I would make a card for a colleague off work sick. When I took this into the office they said, oh we thought you were going to make it and then "oh, you have made it, it is one of those like Hallmark but not Hallmark ones". So I take that as a compliment.
I used Country Companions Celebrations cd rom from docrafts for this card. I personalised the little tag hanging from the flowers and added my own sentiment and some butterflies as the recipient loves butterflies.
I'd like to enter this card into the CD Sunday challenge which this week is Hugs and Wishes.
