Lavender and lace

After I made this card I had the remnants of the card left over and decided it was too good to throw away. I've used a resist technique using SU hydrangea stamp and then used one of my many other hydrangea stamps (this time for Hero arts) to stamp and emboss in the middle of the aperture I created. I used a combination of several embossing powders but I can't quite capture the sparkle on this photo. I've added a couple of leaves from spellbinders dies and some lace at the corners. Which brings me to the challenge on  Allsorts this week "lavender and lace".
I'd also like to enter the card into the challenge at Charisma cardz 3, 2, 1
3 flowers
2 pieces of lace
1 die cut
finally I am skipping (crawling) into the playground Pixies crafty snippets #79 with this as it is using a snippet.

I went a bit mad with gardening yesterday and when I finished I ached all over, so much I can hardly move and it is not much better today!

June Rudolph day

It's Rudolph day again over on Sarn's blog. I had every intention of joining in the last couple of months but never made it. However today I have a day at home and am trying to make the most of it. I've used this digi doodle digi before and make no excuse for using it again as I love it. I colourised the whole image in MCS and then colourised the post box itself.  Added a little diamond sparkles. Cut out with a resplendent rectangle and mounted onto another one.
Then I did another one! this time just the one rectangle and added some airmail twine.

S is for ..... shoes of course!

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is "S is for". Well of course it had to be shoes for me! I've used Ooh la la Creations shoes in Bloom part 2 cd rom, I was only thinking last week that this needed an airing and here was my chance.I also have cd 1 so I had to resist going through every shoe, but in the end I settled on this hydrangea shoe and teamed it with the SU stamp, mixing several embossing powders together to get a nice shade. The font is "Jane Austen". The backing paper and the ticket are also from the cd rom.

LIM week 125 -Happy Birthday

Over on Less is More the challenge is birthday this week, as it is Jen's birthday today. So the challenge is to make her a birthday card she will like. She said she likes butterflies, cats and fish, now I managed the butterflies and cat but I thought maybe the fish would be pushing it a bit for CAS!
I've used MCS and their Silhouettes with Style cdrom for the butterflies. I shrunk a full A4 size design sheet down and put over the top a shrunken Mo Manning "Patience" digi. I recoloured them to shades of blue and then added a vignette around the whole thing. I punched a butterfly from the full size sheet and resized it placing it at the edge of the image. Then I cropped a piece of the full size paper and placed behind the whole image. The font is a download called "Jane Austen" it's my new fav font. It was free, but can't remember where from, sorry.
I then cut around the printed work with a labels 28 spellbinder and tied a little bakers twine before mounting it onto the base card.

Kimono @CD Sunday

The challenge this week on CD Sunday comes from the far east and is Kimono. I've used a MCS cd rom called "The finishing touch" it is quite old now, so not sure if you can still get it. I used it for two backing papers and the oriental lady image. The other images are from an Asian booklet. I've also used some of my asian peel offs.
I have an oriental card set I just had to have! from QVC a few years ago.  I've used one of the card bases here, below you can see the back of the card.
This is a close up of the kimono which is a peel off on one of the backing papers from the cd rom.

Cupcake snippets

Te background paper for this card is actually wrapping paper. I had some left over after wrapping a gift and I couldn't  bear to waste it. So I teamed it with Laundry Anya, colouring her with promarkers and a sentiment from TLC. I know exactly how Laundry Anya feels LOL! everytime I look the ironing fairy just hasn't been. I've been a bit radical for me and given her pink hair. The cupcake on the right is from a Polka Doodles cdrom, and I think the other one was a freebie.
I'd like to enter this into the anything goes challenge at I love Promarkers and I am also popping into the playground with it at Pixies crafty snippets week #77.

mid month inspiration at Penny Black & More

Here's a little inspiration for the Penny Black & More challenge - this month it is CAS (clean and simple). I hope you can join us or if you already have, why not enter again, there are as always fabulous prizes on offer and the chance to become a GDT for a month.
For my DT card I have used PB 40-116 and combined it with elements from the Love London set 30-093. I actually stamped two additional taxis from the London stamp and popped them on foam pads to form a taxi line for her shopping! the sentiment is from the PB Lace delight set. I traced over the letters with a promarker to match in with the rest of the highlighted details.
Thanks for looking and hope to see what you create for the challenge.

LIM week 124 - hexagons

The challenge on Less is More this week is Hexagons and before you all cry out that I have used an octagon, yes I have, but the background is hexagons! I used a stencil I bought whilst in the USA earlier this year to create the background with pan pastels. The bee is from Lavinia stamps and the sentiment is from Fiskars. I stamped the bee again using second generation ink next to the sentiment, and used a TH picket fence distress marker to go over it to give it more of a translucent effect, another tip picked up from Ali Reeve. I've finished it with two pieces of twine, I just knew I had to have these coloured twines when I saw them, I resisted and resisted, but gave in and so glad I did as they are proving very useful.
My second card is using the same stencil and stamp but this time I used TH distress inks direct to the card base. The sentiment stamp was a freebie with a mag a few months ago.

Double decker

The challenge on Simon Says this week is Transportation. I've used a bus from Pilkington Lane stamps and stamped it into foam and heat embossed it so it looks embossed, a tip I saw Ali Reeve doing. I have a lot of this foam that I never use anymore so in an effort to get rid of some of it, I had another go. Yeh - two men's cards at once!
I'd also like to enter the challenge on Polkadoodles for male themed cards.

Happy Birthday, Fine Plumage

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is fine plumage. I've interpreted this as the lovely plumage this lady is wearing on her dress and hat. Both images are stamps from Debbi Moore coloured with promarkers. The background papers are from the d Moore Roaring 1920s cdrom. I've used a piece of pearlescant gold card and double embossed it with two separate folders, one an art deco design and the other is a circle pattern. I then took a gold gilding wax and rubbed over the deco detail to give it some depth. Finally I added some liquid pearls to the printed pearl and tiny spots onto her jewellery.
I'd also like to enter this card into the birthday challenges at Fab 'n' Funky and Divas by Design.

In the garden

This is a card I've made for a friend to give to her sister. I make a few cards for her sister as the brief is always "lots of glitter"!. So this time I stamped the background with a poppy from Inkylicious and embossed with red powder. The too a piece of acetate and backed it with a sticky sheet, using a poppy stencil, I stencilled onto it with red and green glitter for the poppies, removed the mask and then added shades of copper and brown glitter for the background. I topped it off with a stamp from PB which I coloured using markers and then spritzed with water before stamping. Adding some more glitter to this image using a glue pen and running the image through the bug with a Debbi Moore embossing shape. Next I used the new D-lites poppy die, cutting out in green for the leaves and then red card for the poppy heads and piecing together. Finally I cut two butterflies, one from red glitter paper and layered them up.
I'd like to enter this card into the challenge at Allsorts - in the garden and Stamping Sensations - summer blooms

LIM week 123 - one layer, need for speed

I had my card(s) made Saturday morning, but when I came to blog them, guess what - not one layer!!! So I had a sulk and OH thought it funny because he is always telling me to read the instructions! So, I wasn't going to bother, but I have ended up having to take today off to wait for some builders. So while I was waiting I did mark two of this card. I've used one of the Debbi Moore embossing blanks to create the embossed centre. These Holly Hobby stamps arrived on Saturday with my latest edition of Cardmaking and papercraft mag. Not the usual image to go with the theme on Less is More of Need for Speed, but I think she needs to move a fair speed to get that kite up in the air!
Here is my original card, if only I hadn't put that backing paper along the bottom edge - it would have been one layer. I coloured the image this time with watercolour pencils and a little red H20 on the kite. I'm saving my other masterpieces for another post.......
I have to share with you what one of the builders said to me on Friday. He called me out and said could I settle an argument with him and his mate. "When men play golf, what do you call that thing they place the ball on?" Quick as a flash I say "Tee",  "yes please, he says, 2 sugars"!!!! I fell for that one and probably not the first.

On yer scooter

This card is for someone who is Scooter mad. But it has been pointed out to me that this is not really the same type of scooter that he has! Well, this is the only image I could find and it is supposed to be an interpretation rather than the real thing LOL! This is a digi from  Kenny K and I coloured it with promarkers and used some Kanban papers to mount it. The sentiment is computer generated.

I'd like to enter it into these challenges:-
Papertake Weekly - anything goes
Simon Says - masculine/father's day
Creative Craft challenges2 - for the fellas
Kaboodle Doodles - for the kids
Crafty creations - one for the boys

Faithful friends @ CD Sunday

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is Faithful friends. I've used a MCS CDrom called Reigning Cats and Dogs for all the elements apart from the paw print, bone and "go fetch". The "wax" seal was originally in red but I recoloured it it MCS to match the rest of the card. I also added a touch of stickles to the crown.

Shrink plastic snippets

The card I made for LIM used shrink plastic, but I didn't shrink it! I had some off cuts so decided to use them to make the little jars that I have placed onto these JustInked digi stamps. the first one has also a poppy dilite cut, coloured and shrunk down as well as a little jar of flowers from a Sheena Douglass stamp set. You can see the full size version of the jar on this card.
I'd like to take them into the playground at Pixies Crafty Snippets playground week #75

CAS @ Penny Black & More this month

This month the for the challenge at Penny Black & More we are looking for CAS cards. That is Clean and Simple in design. This is my DT card. I used the PB set wishes, stamped one of the flowers three times using a Big and Juicy ink pad. I then put a sticky sheet over them, cut them out and covered in micro beads. You can't really see the beads, but this is close up.
The sentiment is from another PB set called Lace Delight.

Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see your cards over at the challenge.

LIM week 122 - colour

The challenge on Less Is More this week is colour - the colour of your front door! How do the LIM Divas come up with these themes!  So here is my door. I decided to focus on the two frosted panels and recreate them using frost shrink plastic - which I haven't shrunk! Then I used two dies from different spellbinder sets to create the detailing. To echo the gold bars I used some gilding wax along the edges of the apertures and on the embossing of the die to give some definition. I would have cut two rectangles but my dies weren't the right size or shape and I don't trust my own cutting skills, so I used the spellbinders distressed  edges dies instead, and quite like the effect. The sentiment is from Anna Griffin, embossed in mirror gold.

Feeling quite smug with myself, that 1) I got it done so early and 2) it was relatively simple. Look, see and do - easy! got my voice back but throat has been sore all week and will not go away - been gargling with salt water etc to no avail.
