Fall colours

I got two new TH dies in a set - the telephone which I used on my last LIM card and this typewriter. I took a snippet from my box to try it out and then that led to using a spice big n juicy inkpad. I've matched it up with the TH blueprint stamp of the typewriter and then added ink blots using a stamp from Visible images.

Then I decided to have another go without the die cut.
I'd like to enter into the challenge on Kaboodle Doodles - Season of Fall or Fall colours.
As I used some snippets I'm also going to skip over to Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground challenge #87 and show everyone over there too.

Funny birthday

I thought this was funny and hopefully over on Cards for Men challenge they will too as it is for their challenge -funny birthday. The image is from Kenny K and I adapted the wording on the newspaper by cropping in MCS and inserting the new text. The background papers are from Papermania"Happy Days".

More Rudolph

After posting my card for Rudolph day yesterday I remembered I had started a Christmas card featuring Rudolph for the Winter Wonderland Challenge. This is a Papermania stamp and I coloured it with promarkers and H20s, pity the iridescence isn't showing up in the photo. I decided to give the reindeer a red nose, just to make sure everyone knew he was Rudolph!  The paper, sentiment and the vellum are also from Papermania.
I'd also like to enter this card into the Simon Says challenge - anything goes.

Rudolph day in August

I had a little inspiration this month from a new follower - these are her cards. I have had these novelty shapes since the 90s- bought from Liberty's at 50p, as the price tag was still on them. So I have made big inroads into using them by doing these two cards. I first of all went for all the teddies and then a bit of a mix up. The bells are from a Papermania Forever Friends Christmas stamp set.
They are for the monthly Rudolph challenge on Sarn's blog here.

On the Beach @CD Sunday

This is my last week as GDT for CD Sunday challenge - I've really enjoyed it, but back to the other side for me from next week!
Caz has chosen the theme this week which is "On the Beach". A perfect excuse for me to break out one of my newest and unused cdroms "Summer of 59" from Kraftyhands.  I took a scalloped card blank and using TH salty ocean and tumbled glass inks created what I hope looks like sea at the bottom of the card. All the other elements are from the cdrom. I added a little ribbon which I bought ages ago, it is a double stitched ribbon and I thought it looked 50ish to add to the card. Finally I put three drops of white opal liquid pearls in the sea.
Can't wait to see what you all create this week.

LIM week 134 - washi tape

Washi tape is the challenge on Less is More this week. I used three rolls and simply put strips of them onto the card. Then using my newest TH die (came today - part of the sizzix sale) I cut out the telephone, and used washi tape behind it for the detailing.
Another bargain that I got in the sizzix sale is a stamp and cut set which I had seen a while ago, resisted but succumbed in the sale. I used the washi tape to wrap around the Eiffel tower! I've paper pieced her dress as the dress is black on the stamp.

Flower power

The challenge on Papertake weekly is "flower power". It's been a while (at least a few weeks) since I did poppies, so I have indulged myself.
I've made this card using elements from the Debbi Moore cd rom Paper Delights - A Touch of Regency. I then embossed some white card and rubbed over it with a TH tumbled glass.  I added a bow and some tiny seed bead embellishments to either side of the sentiment.
Today is the start of my BH break so hoping to get some crafting done and some painting - although hopefully the OH will take over!

Gone fishin'

There are two challenges this week both looking for cards inspired by a song. This card is for the Lynyrd Skynner song "Gone fishin'". I've used Pink Petticoat paper and sentiment added some coloured twines and the image I think is from Sassy Cheryl.
So, the challenges I'm entering are Kaboodle Doodles and Ooh La La .

LIM week 133 - round and round

The challenge on Less is More this week is round and round. I have to admit to being a bit stumped on this one, so I plumped for a watch on which the hands go round and round. I've used a set of stamps from Uniko for this card. I stamped the watch fob onto some stripped paper and then cut it out.

mid month reminder for "In the garden" @ Penny Black & More

My second post of today, please scroll down for my GDT card for CD Sunday.

This card is my DT card for Penny Black & More and a mid monthly reminder about our challenge which this month is "in the garden". I've only recently acquired this PB -and I love it so much, I think the image goes so well with these lovely Pink Petticoat papers. I've used PB 1652 Cheesecake wish and for the sentiment PB set critter party 30-13.
If you haven't joined in yet this month why not make a card and enter, or if you have entered already have another go - we love seeing all your creations.
I'd also like to enter this card into the Penny Black Saturday challenge - bright & sunny.

Add a number @ CD Sunday

This week on CD Sunday it is Jocelyn's turn to set the challenge and she has chosen "Add a number". For my GDT card I've used the Katy Sue Fabulous fashion cdrom. I just love the colours in the paper and image and I had a little bit of this SU card left that matched perfectly. My number is actually a clothes tag from Monsoon! I hate throwing away anything and this seemed a perfect sentiment, so I cut it down and then used the SU vintage vogue wheel over the top and added some glitter to the word "fashion". I also had a little bit of the image left over when I die cut it, so I used a butterfly punch to cut out from this scrap and place onto the image.I used an art deco embossing folder to frame the image and rubbed over the detail with some TH tumbled glass and then added a touch of stickles. I look forward to seeing what number you add to your creation.
Watch out for my second post coming soon for my Penny Black & More DT mid month reminder card.

Reflections

The challenge over at The Male Room is reflections. I have been asked to make more male cards, so really need to keep joining in with challenge as an incentive. For this card I've used Clarity stamps and a PTI sentiment. TH Salty Ocean and tumbled glass with the image stamped in Memento Paris Dusk.
I used the scrunched paper technique to make the water and also did this effect on the card base. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to photograph the glitter across the moon too well.
I'd also like to enter this card into Papertake Weekly - Occasion-ally and Simon Says - mono.

Quick & cute @ CD Sunday

When I was told the challenge on the CD Sunday challenge this week would be "Quick & Cute" I took them at their word with this my second GDT card, it was so quick to make and I hope cute.
I used the MCS Bunny Snuffles cdrom for the papers and added a "gold" tone sentiment from the cd rom. I then just matted and layered up with some gorgeous purple glitter paper - hard to let go, but I know I must use these things!
Please do come and join us, the only stipulation is use something from a cd rom on your card. I look forward to seeing what you all make and being enticed by more cdroms I haven't got yet!

The Male Room

I found a new challenge this week for Men's cards called The Male Room and their first challenge is anything goes. I needed to make a card for the OHs Son and had these Pink Petticoat papers and sentiment ready to go, but needed an image. I found this charming digi scene at Delicious Doodles. I imported it into MCS and then recolourised it into blues, I then cropped the boats and individually recolourised those as well. I then took some promarkers and added some definition to the outline of the boats. I felt it needed something else, so I added a button that I thought was manly and reminded me of stripped deckchairs. I added some twine to the button and on the joins of the papers so I am also entering the card into the challenge at  Crafty Creations who want to see texture on your card.
I'dalso like to enter it into these challenges:-
Digi galore - anything goes
Papertake weekly - anything goes

Historical reading challenge 2013 - The Road Between Us

Here is my second review for the Historical reading challenge. The Road Between Us by Nigel Farndale.

I’ve just finished reading this amazing book and then after a few minutes just began to sob, as the complexities of what I had just finished reading all sank in. I’m not going to outline the plot because the book blurb does that but just to say that two stories one set in 1940’s and one in 2012 seem so unconnected at first, then there are tenuous links and then they rush together at the end, with the full impact of them combining and hitting you.
To read the book is almost effortless, it’s like a story being told to you by an old friend. It has an almost autobiographical feel to it, like the author really lived and saw these scenes he describes. The writing is captivating, even though at times the storyline is gruesome and too vivid and gory to want to read, you do read it because it draws you in. I found myself thinking about the book when I wasn’t reading it.
I couldn’t put this book down and read it over 4 days whilst travelling to and from work – which is my usual reading time, but then in the evenings too as I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.

I’ve never read anything by this author before, but I am now going to search out his other work, because if it is as good as this, it should not be missed.

LIM week 131 colour

The challenge on Less is More this week is a colour challenge, using the following pallette......
thankful tones
I bought a set of William Morris inspired stamps many years ago, because I love his prints. However, they have never been used because I haven't known what to do with them, until now! I've used three of the stamps. I first used some glossy art card and with ink dusters created a background then stamped over with the same versa mark chalk inks with the stamp and cut them out. The sentiment is from a TH set,it looked a bit lonely so I added a couple of Anna Griffin scrolls.

In the Garden with Penny Black & More challenge

Two posts in one day from me, as I am also the GDT for CD Sunday challenge this month - please see below.
For my DT card for the challenge at Penny Black & More this month I have chosen to use a PB stickeroo as I thought it matched this embossing folder that I have to perfection.  I used a piece of retired SU card that I had to mount the stickeroo and then used a couple of spellbinder die sets to finish the card. The butterfly and little flowers are also from the stickeroo sheet.
Thanks so much for looking and it would be great to see what you make for the "In the garden" challenge. Pop over to the blog and look at the wonderful inspiration provided by my teamies and the fantastic prizes on offer as always.

GDT @ CD Sunday with Transportation

I'm so excited to be finally able to share the news that I have been asked to be the GDT with the  CD Sunday challenge for the month of August. I was GDT last year for a month and had a great time so looking forward to it again.
I am sponsoring the first challenge this month, I have chosen the theme of "Transportation". If you want to enter then please do go along to CD Sunday, and ensure you use something from a cd to be eligible for this prize...

Shabby Chic Mechanical CD

A brand new cdrom from Debbi Moore Shabby chic - mechanical. I managed to order it when I already own it!
I've used this cd along with her vintage travel cdrom to make my card. All the papers and images come from the cd rom and then I have added some mica layers to the sentiment and punched out cog.

I hope you can join us at CD Sunday this week, I look forward to seeing what you make of my theme.
