Tots to Teens @ CD Sunday

The challenge on CD Sunday is Tots to teens this week and it fell right for me as I needed to get a card made for one of the OH Grandsons and I got a half price cdrom from Crafters companion Boys n girls - so I tried it out for this card. As I wanted a card for a 9 year old I felt the images on the cdrom weren't quite old enough. So, I printed the painted splattered background from the cdrom and then the toppers are from a Kanban set I had, I added the "Grandson" one using a Clearly Besotted stamp. I also matted onto some black mirri card which looks really nice in real life.

Butterfly bingo

What a strange title for a post! However, that is what is happening over at Butterfly challenge where Mrs A has set up a bingo challenge. I am going for the line Butterflies, die cut, DP. This is the first time I have joined in with the challenge. My friend loves butterflies and so this is why one ended up on her birthday card. I took the butterfly die to Learning at Work week (see my post last week) and she was immediately attracted to it, not knowing that it was going to feature on her card!
The image is from Pink Petticoat.

May Rudolph day

With it being a Bank Holiday here in the UK I nearly forgot that it was now time to play in Rudolph Day with Sarn. This month Sarn has made two wonderful contemporary Christmas cards with her own Sarn-dangles - really worth a look.I've stuck with the traditional Christmas colours, the first is an image from the Crafters Companion cdrom Frou Frou with a Pink Petticoat DP. I sprayed it with CC glitter spray and unfortunately you can know see the stripes through the image! I also gave the second card a liberal spray which is why it is so shiny in the photo. This card uses a SU sentiment and ornament stamps with some free DP from a mag. Both of the DPs are from my snippets box, so off to the Snippets Playground to show Miss Di and all the other playmates. My snippet card is featured today from last week - thanks ever so Miss Di.
The OH has gone to decorate for his Mother today and so I get to have a craft day - yeah!

Happy Birthday @ Allsorts

Allsorts are celebrating their 5th birthday with the appropriate challenge of "Happy Birthday". I've used one of my lovely fashion stamps, inked up in red. The London scene is a Barbara Gray mask and the "Capital" is from one of the Sheena Douglass sets, I thought it went with this card perfectly!
They also have a blog hop - hoping to join in at some point.

One for the boys @ CD Sunday

I just got this Debbi Moore cd rob Shabby chic  Tools of the Trade, so it seemed a good time to try it out for this weeks challenge on CD Sunday - One for the boys. It will also be perfect for someone at work who has a "man shed"! All the elements are from the cd rom and I added glossy accents to the saws and hammer head so they look metallic.
Here's a look behind the door.

Baby's purple passion

One of my friend's DIL has given birth to her first grandchild. When she got married she had purple on her wedding invites, so I decided to go with that colour for the baby card. The sentiment and name is computer generated and the stamp is from Hobby Art. I embossed the stamp detail with wow granite powder so it is a little sparkly (in the right light) and coloured with promarkers. I added a little bit of ink around the edges of the spellbinder die.
I'd like to enter this card into the "Purple passion" challenge at Allsorts , the "use your die cuts" challenge on Passion for Promarkers and "Anyting goes" challenge on I love Promarkers.

Quotations at Ooh La La

Something a little bit different from me today. One of the girls I work with has a little girl who is just mad for The Wizard of Oz, so I broke into my Graphic 45 pad and made her this door hanger. As she has an unusual name I also added that with some pre made chipboard I had, as it is always difficult to get things personalised when you have an unusual name.
I'm entering it into the quotations challenge at Ooh La La - my quotation is "there's no place like home" how very true!

Oh so cute

I just got this stamp from MFT - I decided to paper piece her with snippets from my box and use a pre cut die card blank I got ages ago, along with some pre printed faux die cuts. Cutting that head band was difficult!

It is Learning at Work week and in my office we are running sessions all week at lunchtime. Today we had knitting, self defence (from our security guard) and local history, so I took some of my crafty stash into the office and at lunchtime some colleagues came and tried their hand at card making. I decided to make the theme embossing powders and of course everyone was wowed when it melted for them. Also a big hit was cutting dies with the cuttlebug, so many oohs and aahs. I decided it was safe to leave someone to use double sided tape to mount their creation onto the card, I mean they must have used that before - was I wrong! I turned to see them trying to peel off the backing mid air!!!! They also thought the heat gun was a hairdryer, but easy mistake to make at first LOL!

I'd like to enter this card into "Oh so cute" at Papertake Weekly challenge and also skipping off to show Miss Di and all the girls in the snippets playground.

LIM week 172 - flowers

The theme on the Less is More challenge this week is flowers. I got this tattered lace Iris a few weeks ago (a bargain - honestly!) and thought I would try it out for this card. I made the background by inking through a stencil and the sentiment is from a set of hobbyart stamps. I have a x-stitch chart with these words from Emerson, I must have had it about 20 years and one day I will stitch it! I love those words.
I'm also making this my second entry for Simon Says - die crazy.

Mid month reminder for anything goes at Penny Black & More this month

Just a quick post to remind you of our challenge over at Penny Black & More which this month is "anything goes" so nice and easy and lots of choice, just no digis, you don't even have to use a Penny Black stamp.
As usual we have absolutely fab prizes for you and the chance to be a GDT.
For my card I used PB3377K whispers and paper pieced it with these Pink Petticoat papers. The sentiment is from a set by creative expressions.

Victorian beauty

I really love the work of William Morris, so when the Age of Elegance cd rom from Joanna Sheen was released I got it straight away, however such is life that this is the first time I have had chance to use it. I love having all these patterns of his to print at any time. All the elements come from the cdrom apart from the SU rose red card that I put behind the die cutting to tone in with the sentiment and border and highlight the pattern. I printed the background pattern once at full scale and then using MCS decreased it and printed it again for the matting. I'm entering this card into the challenge on CD Sunday which this week Wynn has chosen as Victorian Beauties.

Die crazy at Simon says

The challenge over on Simon Says this week is Die Crazy. So it was the perfect excuse to use one of my sets from Clearly Besotted - I bought the stamp set which I used for the background, but I also got the dies to cut out all the lovely vegetables, aren't they cute? The wellies, snail and plant pot are all die cuts I had in my stash.
While I was on a role I decided to make a couple more cards too.

LIM week 171 - one layer thank you

I'm really enjoying using my gilding flakes with the flitter glue at the moment, so I thought it would be the perfect medium to use for the one layer challenge on Less is More this week, which is for a thank you card.

I've used "stitches" stamps from Gina K and the needle and sentiment is from a freebie set. I used morris dance glitter flakes on all the stamping.

Welcome to Sarah the new DT member and congratulations on being chosen.

Spring Violets

This is a card I made for a friend who has a very sentimental attachment to violets. So when I saw the Sheena Douglass stamp set I knew I wanted to get it to make a card for her. I kept the layers to a minimum as I was posting it to the USA. I used two of my new tonic dies to make the lattic work in the precut base card and then used a spellbinder resplendent rectangle to cut the coloured violets out. I used wow black granite embossing powder, which gives a little sparkle, but the camera hasn't quite picked that up.
I'd like to enter the card into these challenges:-
Simon Says - spring flowers
Stamping Sensations - anything goes
Papertake weekly - anything goes

Anything goes at Penny Black & More this month

It's "Anything goes" at Penny Black & More challenge this month. So for my DT card, I made a man's card without any prompting! To be fair I wanted to see how this fab car (PB40-224 Hot Rod)would look with guilding flakes and I really like the effect. I now need a man card - so it all worked out for the best in the end. The sentiment is from the same set but it should be a continuous sentiment. To fit the nestie I just applied flitter glue to half  of it stamped it and ten did the other half below. The paper is from a Kanban pad and to finish I added two different colours of american crafts twine.
We would love to see you over at Penny Black & More where my teamies have as always fab inspirational cards for you. We also have fantastic prizes and the chance to be a GDT for a month, so come on over, you can stamp anything you like as long as it isn't a digi stamp and it doesn't have to be a Penny Black either.
