LIM week 213 - This makes me happy

On Less is More this week they want us to make a card showing "This makes me happy". You only have to ask the OH and he will tell you I love my tea and it makes me happy! Quite often I turn down something stronger as I prefer just a nice cup of tea.
My stamp is from MFT and I paper pieced her in monochrome, the sentiment is a digi from TLC and I cut it out using on of the new Sue Wilson banner dies. Added a little colour in the form of a couple of buttons.

We had a lovely break last weekend and into the beginning of this week at Ettington Hall Hotel near Stratford on Avon - it was cold and the drive down on Sunday in awful rain made the afternoon tea when we arrived all the more welcome. A pity we had to come back!

LIM week 212 - wings

My second post of the day! Please scroll down to see my Allsorts card for their Colour Purple challenge.

The challenge on Less Is More this week is "wings". I had an idea to use a butterfly as I am not really into birds and not sure I've got a suitable stamp. The last card here is actually the first idea I had which was to put the butterfly onto the stamped image, however it is the last card I made. I also added to this card two tiny leaves cut from some gilding flakes on acetate left over from another project.

I experimented with cutting the butterfly out of the stamped image, which is the second card, but decided I hadn't left enough white space. So the first card is the final version which I liked better. I cut the butterfly out and inked through the die. I got some scrap paper and inked through the die again to punch the three butterflies from so they matched the same colours as the big butterfly.I then placed the butterfly back into the aperture and placed some dotty paper behind it.

The colour purple

The challenge over on Allsorts this week is "The colour purple". Well as it is my favourite colour I just had to enter.
I've been mulling over how to make a header die without buying one - and this is my first attempt using a tonic purse die. I then stamped "My Mothers Dress" and embossed with black detail powder and added a Clearly Besotted sentiment die cut from black mirri card.

Mid month reminder at Penny Black & More challenge

Here I am with my DT card for Penny Black & More and our mid month reminder of our challenge. This month it is Anything goes -except a digi.  We also must see stamping as the focal point of your card. We've got lots of entries already for the fabulous prizes, but you can enter up to three times.
For my card I've combined two stamps. The first one is PB1656K stitch in time and it usually has some embroidery in the middle of the hoop - but I masked that part of the stamp off and instead put PB3942F Live life into the space. I then used ink dusters to ink over the whole image.
Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing what you create.

Add something green at Ooh La La challenge blog

For this fortnight's challenge at Ooh La La our theme is to "add something green". For my DT card I chose to use images from the Carnival of Colour cdrom. I actually constructed my all my card layers on the PC and printed it out in one go, adding the leaves and butterflies and top die cut afterwards.
My "green" is the backing paper and doesn't that embossing look 3d when in fact it is printed straight from this wonderful cdrom.
I'd also like to enter my card into the CD Sunday challenge - floral frenzy.

LIM week 211 - Love - one layer

The challenge this week on Less is More  challenge is of course Love - what else on Valentine's Day!
It's also one layer week. For my first card I cut a mask of a heart and then cut a freehand jigsaw piece. Placing the two together and applying glitter paste over the top. The sentiment is Penny Black.
For this second card which is a tiny one, I used two SU sets, Postage Stamps and tiny tags, adding a hint of diamond sparkles.

I (heart) you

At Cuttlebug Mania challenge they want you to put your heart into your card. I've made this card in non-traditional valentine colours for a change. I used Spellbinders love locket and key and a tattered lace border die. The sentiment is from Anna Griffin. Finally I've added a little lemon spotted ribbon.
I'm also going to show everyone in the snippet's playground as I used mainly snippets for this card.

Celebrating LIM 4 years old

Less is More challenge is celebrating it's 4th birthday this week. I've been entering from the start and in fact for the first 2 years never missed a challenge! However, other things got in the way and I now try and join in as and when I can. So pleased to be here for the 4th year celebrations and to see some past designers too.

I began yesterday working with my gelli plate to create a pink and grey background and then didn't want to use it! However, it was saved when I used it to cut the poppies for my first card. The card features a pre-loved die I just acquired from another crafter and of course I wanted to use it, I also thought the sentiment from Hobbycarft went well with it.
My second card is a case from this card on my Pinterest board. I just added a different sentiment and a couple of butterflies. The sentiment stamp features again on my last card with a stamp that had not seen ink, despite needing this stamp so desperately!

Anything goes @ Stamping sensations

I had the gilding flakes out for this card. I used a large creative expressions stamp for the background and then restamped a couple of times and gilded the two flower heads, popping them up on sticky foam pads. I cut two butterflies one from the waste and one in white. I used a creative expression sentiment stamp in black over the gilding. Then I framed the image with an embossed piece of card which I used a spellbinder to cut an aperture out of, and then rubbed some gilding wax over. Finally the ribbon is a bit of a cheat as it was already tied like that on some chocolates.
I'd like to enter this card into Stamping Sensations - anything goes and Simon Says where they want to see All things bright and beautiful.

LOVE at Ooh La La Challenge blog

I've had so much fun making my DT card for Ooh La La challenge this month where our theme is LOVE.
I've used The everyday occasions cdrom.
The first picture above shows my card closed and then this is it slightly open.

And then fully open. These elements are so pretty and I loved using my punches and dies to feature parts of the backing paper.
We'd love to see your "love" creations over the next fortnight.

Anything goes - other than a digi at Penny Black & More this month

This is my DT card for the February challenge on Penny Black & More and this month we want to see "anything goes" so lots of scope - but with the proviso as always of no digis! We say this every month and still people enter using digital images. Even if you print and colour by hand we simply do not accept digital images on this challenge.

For my card I used PB30-097 Hello gorgeous and the sentiment is PB3858F too many. I kept it very CAS this time with just the stamps and then brushing over with blue, pink and yellow to form stripes across the card. I have had difficulty photographing it though, this is the umpteenth attempt and all I can say is that the colours are very subtle in real life.
We'd love to see you over on the challenge - you've got all month to enter and as always there are fabulous prizes on offer and if you do use a PB image the chance to be a GDT.
