Signs of Autumn at Ooh La La Creations

Our challenge at Ooh La La Creations this fortnight is chosen by Pauline and is "Signs of Autumn". I chose to use this image of Robins Hood Bay from the Carnival of Colour Cdrom for my DT card. The image doesn't come in quite these shades, so I took it into MCS and made it glow with an autumn feel. I used the image once behind the window and then again at the bottom of the card with a little sentiment ticket. The window and window box die is from Crafters Companion and the other dies are Tattered Lace and Joanna Sheen. I used this lovely bronze mirri card for some of the elements which said Autumn to me.

August Rudolph Day

Oh wow - August Rudolph Day the year is really passing by. For my card this month I created a glitter background using a stencil. First I took an adhesive sheet and placing the grid stencil over it I rubbed in the red glitter, then I removed it and rubbed in the green glitter where the lines had been left from the stencil. The tree is from Anna Griffin sticker set, the Snowman and snowdog dies are Crafters companion and I sprayed the snowman with Crafters Companion glitter spray. This is the inside using a little strip I had left over from another project.

Pop over to Mo's blog if you want to link up and enter the challenge.

LIM week 238 - sketch

It's time for a sketch over at Less is More this week.
For my card I found a piece of striped SU card which I thought looked like a hill and I was originally just going to put the sun coming up behind it. But I stumbled across my Tattered Lace skyline die and thought it would work with it. I know think the sun maybe looks more like one of the ferris wheels you get in citys across the UK or it could be the London eye! I added a spellbinders sentiment die and then a couple of birds, then it was an even number, so a few more - uhm not so sure about the birds now!

Fav colour at Allsorts challenge

The challenge at Allsorts this week is your favourite colour. Jo set the challenge and me and my friend had a wonderful day on Sunday in her company at the Sheena Douglass workshop. So my card features purple - my fav colour, but I thought I had better have a little bit of a contrast so there is some green in there too. My main image is PB stamp called Whispers and I stamped it onto a background I had created with brushos. I then cut it out using the Tattered Lace starlight die which I have been very lucky to get pre loved at a fab price and it is at the moment my favourite die as you get all the flower die cuts you see on the card with it too.
All my paper are snipets - even those on the edges as underneath there are cut aways from other cards. So I'm entering it into the Snippets Playground.
It also fits the challenge at Papertake weekly To Die for - so I am entering that challenge also.
It also fits the challenge at Stamping Sensations this month which is to include a stamp and a die cut.

mid month reminder for Penny Black & More - Summer flowers

Time for a little reminder about our challenge over on Penny Black & More which this month is Summer Flowers. Remember you don't need to use a Penny Black stamp to enter but we must see stamping as the focal point of your card and it cannot use a digital stamp.

For my card I took a blue base card and stamped the edges with PB 30-115 Lace delight in black ink. On a separate piece of card I created a background using brushos and then used the same stamp set but a different border, this time embossing in white. I then took PB 3377k whispers embossing in white again. Finally I mounted it onto the card and then added a little ribbon with a sentiment using PB 30-103 wishes stamped in black on a punched circle of the brusho background.

One for the boys - Ooh la la challenge

It's Michelle's turn to choose our challenge over on Ooh La La Creations this fortnight and her choice is "One for the Boys". So a great opportunity to make those cards you may put off doing.
I've used the Paula Oakley cdrom for the printed elements on my card which has lots of choice for themes suitable for a male card as do many of the cdroms from Ooh la la.
I've used my Tattered Lace stepper die for the base of the card - this was idea in one of the magazines which I've adapted slightly. The die cut on the front is done using the woven paper from the cdrom.

Thanks for looking. I'll be checking what male themed cards you come up with to get some ideas of my own.

Butterfly + washi tape

This is my entry for the Butterfly challenge which this time is Butterfly and washi tape. I had this washi tape with butterflies on it - so thought it would be perfect. I used the film strip die to highlight the butterflies on the tape, I then added a couple of butterfly stickers in complementary colours. Finally added a spellbinder sentiment die.

I've been on a workshop today with the wonderful Sheena Douglass organised by Jo Channon at Let's Create. I've had a fantastic day, learnt loads, just need to remember it now. We created a few backgrounds so look out for those on upcoming cards.

Here's a Usie of Sheena me and my friend.

LIM week 237 - Congratulations

When I saw that the theme on Less is More this week is "Congratulations" I wasn't sure what I was going to do.

I knew I had this Spellbinders sentiment die and my first thought was to cut it and use against a brushed ink background. However, the brushos were calling yet again! The candle is a die from Tattered Lace. I made the background on watercolour paper and then cut it out with a rectangle and circle die, mounted it onto the card and then added some extra brushos on the corners. The sentiment is cut from green mirri card, as my first cut with green card didn't show up too well.

I had a few days away this week in Lincolnshire with a friend of mine.  One of the places I took her was The Village Church Farm in Skegness. Now this is not what you would usually associate with Skegness.......
It was a wonderful place and we had a lovely morning there looking around, plus it was wheelchair friendly in the main. Look what I found in one of the rooms - that is an old machine!
I also managed to track down a couple of craft shops too.

LIM week 236 one layer - eyes

First of all thanks to the Limettes for choosing to showCASe my card for week 234 - what a lovely surprise.
The challenge on Less is More this week is one layer and "the eyes have it". My first card was my first idea, but then I thought I would use the Tim Holtz stamps and make the card below. Only to then think "eyes" there is only one! So back to the original idea of a simple black and white card using a free stamp from a few years ago and a clever cuts stencil with Memento London fog ink stencilled through it.

I did do a little bit of a resist on the second card and then added mermaid lagoon and peeled paint inks with the stamping in Memento Paris Dusk.

Metallic snippets

I saw the current challenge at House of Cards was "Metallics" and I remembered I had a piece of purple mirri card that I had embossed with a peacock feather folder and only partly used. There wasn't much left - what to do with it?

I just got this Anne die from Tattered lace - it's been out of stock for ages but I managed to get one pre loved. I wondered what it would look like cut from a snippet of silver matt card I had. There are so many elements to this die and as I was deciding how to put it on a card, I thought - put it back into the piece I cut it from! So I did that, cutting the waste with a circle die.

No room for a sentiment though - so I cut "birthday" using a Clearly Besotted die from the smallest piece of waste I still had left and mounted it across the middle. I know it blends in the middle, but I liked the effect. I had some pieces left from another failed die cut so I cut those away and used them for the corners.

As this used snippets I'm off to the snippets playground to share there too.

LIM week 235 - Berry shades

So I was playing with my brushos which are my favourite thing at the moment and I made a background in berry colours for Less is More Challenge. But what to do with it. Then I thought of using one of the fantastic Tim Holtz scene stamps (which are yet to see ink). The colours reminded me of a sky over Paris, so that is what I went with. I then cut an aperture in some card and mounted it over the inking adding a little Papertrey Ink sentiment in Memento Ink Grape Jelly - very fitting I thought.

It still seemed to be lacking something so I sprayed it with water and then decided to throw a few more brushos at it - well I like it........

Nautical at ooh la la challenge

It's my turn to choose the theme for our fortnightly challenge over on Ooh La La this time. I love the sea and everything to do with it, so I've chosen
NAUTICAL
as the theme. I've used the Ooh La La Boys to Men cdrom for my card with the simply titled "boats" artwork and rope background. the sentiment and border paper are from Pink Petticoat.

Please show us anything to do with the sea, seaside whether it is boats, fish or buckets and spades and ice creams. I look forward to seeing what you create. Don't forget to check out my talented team mates for inspiration.

Summer Flowers at Penny Black & More August challenge

This month over on Penny Black & More challenge we would like to see your summer flowers. There are lots of lovely prizes as usual and a chance to be a GDT. You can use any stamp you like but we don't allow digis.

For my DT card I've used PB4308K Field of Poppies. I decided rather than colour the image this time I would use some glossy card and apply some TH distress inks with a vaseline resist over the top using a stencil for the bokeh effect. I added PB3942F Live Life for the sentiment. I then simply rounded two of the corners and mounted onto a cream card base.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you at Penny Black & More this month.
