Add a sentiment at Ooh La La Creations Challenge Blog

Time for our new challenge over on ooh la la creations challenge blog and this time Jennifer has chosen to "add a sentiment".
For my DT card I have used the Boys to Men cdrom which as always can be purchased from Ooh La La.
I've used one of the pre-made card templates from the cdrom and recolourised it in a graphics programme. I printed the bottom sentiment twice and mounted onto the card with a little blue twine. I love this image it reminds me of my holiday to Canada last year.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Tag frames

For my CE DT card this week I've chosen to use the pierced tag dies to create a series of frames. I lined the pieces of card up and then cut out each of the tag shapes. Then I layered them up using foam tape. I used the colour cloud inks to stamp - first stamping off onto some paper and then onto the card which gives a very soft feel. The stamps are from the Camellia ring elements stamp set.
For the background I used some colour cloud ink and a smoothie and then stamped over using the pierced tag sentiments set - this time with first generation colour cloud ink.

Part of #Artchain

I've been nominated by my lovely teamie Tracey on the Creative Expressions design team to take part in a 5 day #Artchain on Facebook. As today's share has never been on my blog I thought I would share it with blogland too today.

I bought a frame from Ikea and then used my Creative Expressions fashion stamps and a Tilda paper pad to create each "picture" for the frame.

February Rudolph Day

It's time for Rudolph Day over on Mo's blog.

I used a new stamp I got from Hobby Art Stamps for this card and then found this fab Papermania paper to complement it. A couple of Anna Griffin embellishments from the bottom of a box! and a die cut or two with some frosty snow.

See you over at Mo's.

Workshop makes

I was lucky to be able to attend an inky workshop with Pauline Butcher last Saturday. These are the cards we made using Visible image stamps.
The first one is a resist ink background.
The leaf one is a brushos background.
This last one is again an inky background. Although I recently learnt to create a reflection using a gelli plate this was created using acetate. A great tip from Pauline and one I will use again as I always worry that I am using the right ink pad on the gelli - one mistake and you have the image on there for ever, as happened to me in the past when I used the brayer technique to do a reflection!

LIM week 264 - add some texture

I made this card using some snippets from a piece of fabric and some textured card I found in the snippet box. The stamps are from Papertrey Ink and I just added a little blue aquatint with a brush for the background.

This second card was made with a test piece I did prior to the above card - just a little 3x3 card so I thought the sentiment was perfect for it. Two pieces of fabric tape (not washi!) adorn the corners.
I'm entering the Less is More challenge which this week is to Add some Texture and also the Snippets Playground, where last week Brenda and Sarn led me astray with the Prosecco!

Creative Expressions Saturday - Tag for a friend

I used the Pierced tag die set to make this card. First of all I used the colour cloud inks with spray starch to create the backgrounds. I hadn't tried this with Colour cloud before, but it worked perfectly.

Then I cut out two of the tags from a lighter part of my background and stamped and cut out by hand two tags using the pierced tag sentiments stamps.

I stamped the flowers from the Camellia Ring elements stamp set onto the larger tag and then coloured in with a brush using CE Aqua twinkles for the flowers and Cosmic shimmer acrylic drawing inks for the leaves and detail on the tag stamp from the pierced tag sentiments stamp set.

Finally I scaled up the largest tag die and made my own card to mirror the shape. I took some white seam binding and using the colour cloud coloured it co-ordinate with my tag background. the stamps on the card base are from Camellia ring elements set and I coloured again with aqua twinkles and Cosmic shimmer drawing inks.

I loved making this card so much I did a second one in another colour way. This time I didn't layer the stamping I stamped directly onto the die cut backgrounds.

Add a button @ CD Sunday

I've been playing with one of the serif kits - this one is by Louise Tiler. The card I was aiming for is actually the one below but a battle with my printer meant I got the image above. I decided to go with it and simply mat onto some turquoise card - which ever since I found it in my snippets box it is proving invaluable - of course there isn't much of it left now.

The theme on CD Sunday challenge is "add a button(s)" - there is one on here I promise you - just look at the bow under the balloon.

I also used a new toy which I have resisted for ages - clear wink of stella. I love it, but can't get it to show in the photos or look very good in daylight. I thought maybe I hadn't added enough but even after another coat I'm getting the same result.

Finally this is a snippet from a Jem cdrom Clearly Bowed which I have had lying around for ages, so I decided to make it into a card. Not quite as it should be but worked for me! There is another snippet in the sentiment - this was originally going on my LIM white on white card when I read only black or metallic was allowed.

I'm entering the challenge at CD Sunday and visiting the Snippets playground.

mid month reminder for Anything and a stamp and a die at Penny Black & More

Time to remind you about our challenge over on Penny Black & More which this month is Anything with a stamp and a die. For my DT card I've used Hidden Lane which really does all the work for you - not much more to do. I made a background using aquatints by brushing across each colour - then stamped over with black ink. The sentiment is stamped onto a circle from the offcut of the background and placed onto the image. I've used a spellbinders die to frame the image.
Thanks for looking and hope to see you over at the challenge this month for all the usual amazing prizes we have on offer.

LIM - another stem

I was visiting KathyK's blog yesterday when I remembered this card I made for a friend a couple of weeks ago. Kathy had used a similar stamp.
Always a hard card to make so I was glad I had this new Anna Griffin circle set which I thought went well with the TH flower. The sentiment stamp on the bottom is one I have had for ages and of unknown make, I thought it balanced the card out.
So - popping back to Less is More with this as a second entry for their one layer stem challenge.

LIM week 263 - one layer - stems

For once I knew exactly what stamps I wanted to use when I saw the challenge on Less is More was stems this week - and of course with one layer!

I've had this Clearly Besotted set for some time and never got around to using it, so thought it would look nice on some watercolour card with brushos. So, that's what I did. The first card was my second attempt and more what I was aiming for, the second card I used the brushos like paint and put on with a brush, including the splatters.

The third came came about because I saw this stamp on my desk which I had promised myself to use - I really wanted it and tracked it down and yet it has never seen ink. This one I painted using twinkling H20s - you can't quite see the shimmer in the photo though.

Thanks for looking and thanks to the LIM challenge for choosing me as the January winner. I was a little overwhelmed if truth be told when I read the announcement.

Clean and Simple at Ooh La La Creations challenge

It's time for our new challenge at Ooh la la Creations and this time my team Michelle has chosen Clean and Simple (CAS). So my DT card is simple! Just two squares of cardstock cut with Tattered lace dies and the the image cut with the same die which I coloured myself with promarkers and is from the Say it with Words cdrom. Not all the images on the cdrom are coloured, so you can still be as creative as you would like to be.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you over at the challenge blog.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Friends

I just love this floral wreath from the CE Camellia Ring elements stamp set. I decided to emboss it in ivory CE powder on a background I created using Colour Cloud Blending inks. The sentiment in the centre is from the same stamp set.

I sprayed some water over when finished and bled away some of the colour from the background and from the flowers. I then used the colour cloud ink to colour some of the leaves and flowers again.

I used part of the Sue Wilson Diagonals Labyrinth die set to place over the frame for the card.

Water droplets

I've got two cards today inspired by the challenge on Vintage Stamping this month which is splatters and drips - certainly a different theme than I think I have ever seen before!

As soon as I saw the challenge I immediately thought of my Ryn raindrop stamp which I love using - so any excuse to give it an inking. I first made a background using CE Colour cloud inks and then stamped a dragonfly from Crafters companion and sentiment. I coloured with Cosmic Shimmer drawing inks and aqua twinkles then stamped randonmly with the raindrops in Versamark lagoon ink. I added a wink of stella to the raindrops and then for good measure some aqua twinkles - such a shame I can't seem to capture it on camera.  But here is a close up

I then cut out the main image with a circle die and remounted over some background card. Stamping some more raindrops across the base card.

I have had this snippet of ribbed card in my box for ages and thought it was the perfect colour to complement the making of another card - this time I used some jewelled embossing powder and mica on the dragonfly, again this really shimmers and has a glassy effect in real life. I stamped the base card with a stamp from the SU set Hope (now retired).
I'm going to the snippets playground with these cards as all the layers of card were from the snippets box. My second visit this week - anyone would think I was trying to make prefect LOL!

Love @ Clarity stamp challenge

I decided to have a go at the Clarity stamp challenge this month where the theme is Love.

I've used two Clarity stencils laid one on top of the other then used TH picked raspberry, mermaid lagoon, mowed lawn, wilted violet and cracked pistachio through the stencils. I've stamped with the Clarity alphabet lower case the word love with a little bird from the  birdhouse garden set. The other stamps are from the wee folk collection no1 and the leafy corner stamp is also from Clarity.

I'm also entering this card into Stamping Sensations challenge where it is Anything goes this month.

LIM 5th Birthday - white on white

The Less is More challenge is 5 years old! Where does the time go - I've been playing along for all that time, although in recent years not every week.I've been a winner and showcased a few times which I take as a very high accolade indeed. Congratulations ladies and here's to the next 5 years.

The LIM challenge is white on white and the die I have used is one that Anne from LIM used a while ago, and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it as it is very close to my favourite designer rose by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

It's been sitting on my desk and not quite made it to a card, so this was the week for it. I've used Tattered lace pierced squares for the bases and embossed in silver the sentiment.

As I have a box of white snippets and all these pieces came from it I am off to show everyone in the snippets playground. But before I do......

A few weeks ago I was very lucky to be able to go to a workshop sponsored by Boots No7. Boots is a Nottingham firm although now has US owners and there was also an exhibition all about the brand which was fascinating. At the workshop we got all the materials to make a little purse and try out some techniques. I chose to use some vintage Boots branding and a transfer method onto aida cloth.

For the other side of my bag I used some Nottingham lace and other embellishments that were provided. As a bit of a social historian I loved playing with the images and also to have this wonderful keepsake.
Afternoon tea was provided and at the end of the workshop we all got a very generous Boots No7 goody bag which I was not expecting. A fab workshop all together.
Here's a photo of how the tables were set up with all the materials on cake stands.
and here I am really concentrating......

Anything with a Stamp and die at Penny Black & More challenge

Our challenge on Penny Black & More this month is "Anything - with a stamp and die". Please do remember the stamping and die as you won't be eligible for the fantastic prizes on offer otherwise.

For my card I've used the PB set Micey Day. I coloured with promarkers and put inside a TH die. I used a sheet from the PB paper pad Beau Jardin as the background and added the pennant die from PB. Finally a few dew drop gems to finish it off.

We all love to see what you create and don't forget to see the blog for more inspiration from the other teamies.

Clarity share

Just sharing the latest makes from my Clarity workshop in January. As you can see Sazz our tutor had some really good ways to adapt the stamps in these fab designs she came up with.

The reflection below was done using the gelli plate.

A simple but effective brushing of mica powder over the image.

Less is More week 261 - down under

I admit to being totally stumped when I saw the challenge was Down under on Less is more this week. I did see the use of an umbrella - but I did that last week for the silhouette.

Then I remembered the TH stamp sets and the one in there that I didn't think I would ever use - Sydney harbour. Two good things have come from this - one I got to use the stamp and two I realised it would be perfect for an Australian friend of mine. Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees!

I used my gelli plate to create the reflection - so much easier than the brayer method. I used London Fog to make it lighter than the original and then used CE colour cloud ink for the water and sky. The sentiment is from a SU set.

Love & romance @ Ooh la la Creative Challenge

It's Pauline's turn to choose our challenge over on the Ooh la la Creative Challenge this time. She's chosen Love and romance and with valentine's day not far away you could make your valentine, or just any card featuring love and romance.

For my DT card I've used the Say it with Words cdrom.
I've designed the whole card as one layer using MCS. I took the version of the main image which is postage stamp on the cdrom and tiled it to make two borders. So it says I really, really, really love you a lot of times!

Can't wait to see what you come up with for this fabulous theme, don't forget to check the blog for great inspiration from my lovely teamies. You don't have to use an Ooh la la cdrom to enter but if you go to the Ooh la la website here Wendi has very generously provided some new freebies you can download.
