LIM #291 - stickers

When I saw the challenge on Less is More this week was sticker, sticky label or peel off
I did wonder what I could do as I donated all my peel offs sometime ago. I do have some Penny Black Stickeroos but in the end I remembered these transparent scrapbooking sentiments.

I used one and then using the TH splat die cut it twice, once in black gloss and once in red and offset them. I then used a little bit of my new sticks frame die, which I feel belongs on every card I make at the moment!

I'm entering this into the Less is More challenge and also at the Snippets playground as the dies were cut from the snippet box.

I went on a fused glass workshop at the weekend and it made me smile when the tutor said he had a snippet box - of glass! The other participants marvelled that he saved even the glass dust we swept off the table at the end. He showed us small pieces of jewellery he had made using the offcuts. My pieces should be in the kiln at the moment ready to showcase soon.......

Girlie at Ooh La La Creations challenge blog

The challenge at Ooh La La Creations blog this time is Girlie chosen by Debbs.

For my DT card I've used the Ooh la la Say it with Words cdrom - one of the black and white digis. Although this one actually has the word Rainbows in colour.
I've used brushos with the image - on the first card I manipulated the brushos for the ground with some water and a brush and on the second one I just sprinkled and left it.

I do hope you can join in this fortnight with our challenge and we can't wait to see what you create.

Poppy card Mk II

After I made the Poppy card here the other day I felt it could be improved upon. So I changed the colour of the poppies and this time I used one of Ken Oliver's watercolour cards to do the stencilling and stamping onto.

Just like the last time I did this card, I stamped several images of the poppies and decoupaged parts of the flowers, but you can't see it in the photo too well.

Luckily I took the photo before the rain we have today. I have been in a fused glass workshop all day with no windows so it was a bit of a surprise to come out to a downpour here. All the pieces we made have to go into a kiln so it will be a week before I get my finished pieces back.

I'm entering this card into the Anything goes challenge at Stamping Sensations.

August Rudolph Day

Before I got into using Brushos I was using my gelli plate to make backgrounds and so this is a return to using the gelli plate. I used a spellbinders die to cut the baubles out and the background is a Clarity snowflake stencil.

The scenic stamps are from Creative Expressions and the bottom are stamped using Penny Black baubles. The sentiment is from a Mama Elephant set.

Of course it is time for Rudolph Day over at Mo's blog and I'm off to enter. I really need to step up the Christmas card production now though, which is why there are three this month.

Circle snippets and a visit to Stoneywell

I made a card the other day here using this die and of course when it was cut I had some waste. I also cut it in bright pink as I wasn't sure which colour I was going to use. Well I just didn't want to throw away the waste - so this is the resulting card. Although it has to stop at some point as every time I cut it this could go on for some time!

I stamped some splodges using a Kirsty Wiseman stamp and then put the die over the top and reinserted some of the waste from each of the cuts. Finally a sentiment from a Hero Arts set.

I'm going to the playground to show everyone and welcome Sarn back too. Just before I go you might want to know my of an outing to a National Trust property yesterday - Stoneywell in Leicestershire. It's a fairly new property and I only found out about it thanks to the lovely Ange and her wonderful blog here - which is also worth a look.

Stoneywell is built in the Arts and Crafts style and although small inside it was a brilliant visit and wonderful gardens to see too.

Originally it had a thatched roof as can be seen from this painting.

The larder
Of course I had to have a photo of the typewriter
Wouldn't you just love a window seat like this?

LIM #290 - Exotic

The Less is More challenge inspired me to make these three cards this week on the theme of Exotic.

The first card features a set of stamps that I just had to have - they got delayed and then never saw ink until today - 2+ years later!!! I made a background using the new spellbinder tool n one brayer with TH inks. Then I decided my newest die (sticks frame)- which someone used a few weeks ago I think seemed to fit nicely. I cut it up and used it slightly differently to the original configuration.

Second card uses the new Leonie circle stencil (look out for a snippets card featuring this!) and a sheet of Crafters Companion Destination collection. The sentiment is from Hobby Art.

Third card is CC Destination collection again. Used one of the toppers trimmed slightly and mounted onto card and another background made with the mini brayer. Finally some embossing using a Hero Arts stamp.

Fabulous florals

The challenge on Allsorts challenge blog this week is Fabulous Florals and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to use my newest poppy stamp and die from Ken Oliver.

I used a stencil for the background and the sentiment is from Clarity.

Fussy cutting with stencil and mask

I decided to have a play with some old favourite Clarity Stamps. First though I used a the Clarity mask to put the colour down around the figure, then lifted the mask and using the stencil filled it in with TH pumice stone. I took the montage stamp and stamped over the figure then using the standalone basque stamp, stamped onto vellum. I also stamped two of the words onto vellum and heat embossed with clear powder and then using Cosmic Shimmer metallic gilding polish over the back of the vellum. I then fussy cut around all of these elements.
I used a TL die to cut the artwork and give the holes around the edges, then mounted onto black card and finally onto a base card which I had stamped with some more Clarity word chain stamps.

I'm entering this into the Clarity Stamp Challenge #42 - fussy cutting and
Craft Stamper magazine Take it Make it August challenge - stencils and masks.

Sophisticated snippets

Those of you that know how much of a fashionista I am will realise I had to have this die (and it's companions!) but just look - I already own this cushion.

So I really did need to have it LOL!

The Less is More challenge this week is "Something French" and playing along with this led to my card, but as it is not one layer I couldn't enter it. I can see me putting this lady in lots of different settings but for now with the addition of the french script from SU she is in France. I chose not to put the glass in her hand, which by the way, if you look at the cushion has always seemed to me that her hand is not quite right........

So pleased to have used a card blank I have had for years too. As the dies were all cut from the snippets box I'm off to the Snippets playground to enter.

mid month reminder for Penny Black & More challenge - anything goes with a stamp

Hello - just a quick reminder for our challenge over at Penny Black & More challenge.

For my DT card I used Penny Black painters vase stamp which I stamped in black and embossed with clear powder over a brushos background. The frame is from Crafters companion and the sentiment is from Penny Black set sprinkles and smiles.

Thanks for looking and hope to see you on the challenge blog - even if you have entered you still have time to do so again up to a maximum of three entries, just remember stamping must be your focal point.

LIM week 289 - something French

I knew I had some French themed stamps so I routed them all out and then decided what to use. This is how I ended up doing three cards.
The first one uses Clarity stamps and a G45 stamp, then a stencil from Sheena for the background.

The second one is a stamp that has never seen ink - you can see why I wanted it I'm sure ;) I decided to use the same G45 stamp and also a stamp from French Foilage set by SU.

Lastly a stamp I have used before which comes with it's own french sentiment - I've used Coloursoft pencils and a blending pen for this card - my first go at this technique.

They are all for the one layer challenge at Less is More which this week is "something French".

Edit
I've been alerted by Darnell to a challenge I've never entered before One Layer Simplicity - I'm entering the last card into their Art challenge as I used the coloursoft pencils.

Clarity makes

It was the monthly Clarity worksop last Saturday. We spent most of the day making this lovely folding birthday book. There are two panels left over and so I will be using those for something else soon.

Then we did a quick technique that can be used to disguise a less than perfect stencil print. I was amazed that it actually came out perfectly - when it didn't need to! But I still blew the ink!

Then we took the same stencil flipped it and used the left over ink to get the reverse image. This left part of the image unprinted and I forgot to take a photo whilst it was like that. When I got home I originally planned just to draw in the missing detail, but got zentangling and couldn't stop.

3 embellishments at Ooh la la Creations challenge blog

Julie has chosen our challenge this fortnight of "3 embellishments" at Ooh la la Creations challenge blog. Something that I think is often overlooked on the Ooh la la cdroms are the embellishments - so for my DT card I've used the flowers (3 of them ;) ) that complement the backing papers from the cdrom Say it with Words.

I chose to print the backing paper directly onto some card to form the base of the card. This cuts down on layers for postage too! The main image is also from the cdrom and is one of the black and white images. I've used brushos to add some colour. There are two cards this time as the first one I made to show on Hochanda and the second one is the version I made live on air!

Hope you can join us for this challenge - remember to check the blog and see the inspiration from the rest of the team.

CD Sunday - Let's shape it up

I had been looking for this stamp for ages and managed to get hold of it and then I got the cdrom with the same image on - so what to do? I decided to use both!

I've had these dress shaped cards for a while and keep meaning to use one, so when the challenge on CD Sunday was "let's shape up" that decided it.

The gingham is cardstock cut to fit the cardbase - the main image is stamped and the rest of the card is from Angelica & Adam collection cdrom. I've put a silver pen all around the cut out stamped image and used a purple glitter pen to highlight some of the flowers etc.

I've been away in the Peak District taking in the Bakewell Show as part of our stay. Here's some of the award winning vegetables - they looked like they were made of marzipan they were so pristine.

A view from one of our windows - seems the padlock thing is now in Bakewell - we saw it in Paris but last time we were here 2 years ago, this bridge had no padlocks on it.

The apartment we rented had an African animal theme and this was one of the murals in the hallway!

Anything goes with a stamp at Penny Black & More August challenge

Because we know how busy the summer time is with holidays etc we have another "Anything goes with a stamp" challenge at Penny Black & More challenge blog this month.

For my DT card this month I've used Penny Black 30-330 XOXO - I was inspired to get this stamp by one of our regular entrants the other month, as she used it to great effect here. I've used PB papers to paper piece her dress and heart motif and black gloss card for the frame, dipping the final paper in a little embossing powder to save on having another layer. I used a Sue Wilson heart of heart dies to cut lots of hearts to put in a pile at the edge of the die frame. Finally I added a Lawn XOXO die cut twice,  using the PB paper and the gloss art card to slightly off set.

We still have all our usual great prizes up for grabs, so why not make something to share with us - just remember no digis and stamping must be the focus of your card. As always my teamies have provided fab inspiration on the blog too.

upcycling snippets

I just hate throwing away those lovely bags you get from shops with nice ribbon handles and are so sturdy. This is one which I upcycled as a gift bag. Just used some snippets and dies to decorate. There are side panels with a polka dot in these colour ways but I didn't realise they don't show in the photo until it was too late and the bag was on its way to the recipient.

My other bit of up-cycling comes from a workshop I went to at a localish Materials Recovery Centre (where they sort the recycling rubbish for recyling). It was a free workshop for County residents and you got a little tour of the plant which was really interesting and I learnt so much.

These are the bracelets I made at the workshop from snippets of an old inner tube of a bicycle. The bottom one uses beads made from an old soft drink bottle. To make them simply cut the plastic, curve around something, hold in place with wire and set with hot water! I left the wire on mine as I thought it looked good. I still need to attach the fastening!

Linking up with Miss Di and the Snippets Playground.

Ribbons and Bows at Ooh La La Creations Challenge Blog

You might have seen this card before if you saw me on Hochanda with ooh la la cdroms. This was one of my demos and uses one of the ribbons and bows from the cdrom Say it with Words from ooh la la so I thought it fitted the theme for this fortnight set by Alli of "ribbons and bows" on the Ooh la la Creations challenge blog
.
For my DT card I've used one of the beautiful weaved effect papers for the background and one of the little postcards onto which I wrote BELIEVE. Something we all need to do! The only thing not from the cdrom is the little blue star gem.

I do hope you can join in our challenge and don't forget to check the blog for the wonderful cards made by the rest of the team.
