An award

The lovely Victoria gave me this award a few weeks ago and I have only just got around to posting it as it requires some work!

1. copy this award to your blog
2. link to the person who gave you this award
3. identify 7 interesting facts about yourself
4.choose 7 bloggers to pass the award to
5. link to their blogs
6. leave them a comment to let them know about the award

The seven things about me.........

1. I hold a 2nd degree in Reiki the natural healing method

2. I know how to do Indian Head Massage

3. I was an extra in the film "The Magicians"

4.I've been in a hot air balloon

5. I don't have a middle name

6. I've been dog sledding-but not in the snow!

7. I've only moved house once
The seven bloggers I am giving this award to are:-

Divide and conquer!

Day 305 on 365 cards is Divide and conquer. You have to divide the card into 4 equal quandrants and each one must contain a stamped sentiment, a punch out, a rhinestone, a floral embellishment. I made this card last night after I had switched off the PC - so did it from memory. Then found out this morning that the sentiment had to be stamped - mine was the HI diecut, so I have added friend as a stamped image - phew! Although I have this set of papertrey paper this is actually a sample from their website that I printed before I got the papers. I decided to just cut around four of the squares and leave the grid in the middle which is how it is on their website. I cut out one of the flowers from a spare square and mounted on foam and then put a flower die cut around it. The punched out shape is a little Scottie dog. I am so pleased with this card. The black Hi and flower are from a glitter gift tag I got at Christmas and I could not bear to throw away.

I am also entering this card in Rosie Dee's challenge which is a free choice this week.
Nutcrafters have a January sale with 20% off EVERYTHING - they stock The Greeting Farm so I have treated myself to the Me time Anya set (amongst other things!). They only charge £1 p&p and I have found them to be very quick in posting.

Happy New Year

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy New Year 2010 with this card. I am also entering into the Simon Says Challenge where a Party card is required. The background stamp is from SU Happy Everything as is the "days". I got the image as a freebie from Splendid stamping. I've actually got two more images of him coloured in and ready to use but it is a bit late now isn't it! I think I might use them in my scrapping if I ever get back to it. This card is going to my wonderful friend/neighbour so at least she is getting it today!

Favourite project of 2009

Now I already picked a fav for The Stamp Man - but as Quixoteic paperie are also asking for a favourite today with a chance to win Candy I thought I could easily find another fav! It was hard to choose just one the first time. So here it is. To be in with a chance to win the candy just do the same before 5 Jan, click on the link in this post to take you to the site.

WOYWW

I think I may have licked the Scheduling lark on this blog - I did what I should have done, but after I began typing -aahh!! Who would've known LOL!

So here is my desk this Wednesday for WOYWW. I am busy making SU cards for swapping so there are some stamped images coloured in for the next cards. There are some papers with Fairy silhouettes on which I was just trying out to see what they are like. Some new cuttlegbug folders which were Xmas pressies from my lovely friend. A nice new red notebook from a friend and bits of green ribbon I just cut off the top from the Next sale online (don't do queues or real sales!). Papertrey paper I have been used on said swap cards.
Two Anna Griffin stamp sets that I thought if I put them on my desk I will finally get around to using them (only been there 3 days so time yet!).

Thank you

Here is one of my Thank you cards I have made for friends.I'm entering it into:-

Back to work for me tomorrow so making the most of the day to craft, although began by a big tidy up/clear out! To make room for new pressies.

Fav project of the year

I thought this was a nice idea as the year draws to an end. Pick your fav project of 2009 and post at The Stamp Man. It was hard to chose one fav-plenty I grimaced at now my cardmaking has reached new levels! I've chosen this shoe which was also my first digi stamp and I still marvel at how life like it looks no matter how you colour it. The shoe is from Sketching stamper.

days 296 and 298 on 365 cards

Ok I lied - that wasn't my last Christmas card the other day! You might remember me saying that I had a broken leaf punch and I wanted to make a wreath out of the leaves (I CASED the idea from Fabric Butterfly's blog). Well day 296 on 365 cards is "make a wreath" so I decided to go for it. Pleased with the result to which I added some punched flowers raised on tiny pads and added some bling to them. Then made a faux bow from sticky ribbon. Mounted an emblishment in the centre with some bling to hide the hole!

I haven't played at 365 for such a long time - so when I saw there was only one entry for the next challenge I thought I would give them some company LOL!

Day 298 is "running with circles" and the challenge is to include at least 10 circles on your card. I hope the footballs count! I've used a stamp set from the Dandelion range - this is onion. Coloured with marvey pens. Nice male card to have in my stash.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my followers and visitors.

WOYWW

I really enjoyed WOYWW last week so I am getting a little ahead and posting this so that it appears when I am actually at work on Wednesday. Edited - no this hasn't worked, can anyone tell me how you do it please?

Not so untidy as last week as I have had a bit of sort out-for now LOL! Been playing with the new signature Anya's and also some stamps from Crafty Pad which are on sale at the moment. They are good prices normally so on sale they are fantastic, may have to go back again. I got Belinda with a cupcake and the where she is looking in the mirror which I loved when I very first saw it. Also another flapper Anya coloured in ready to go.

This view shows my "CREATE" on the wall, which was published in one of the Craft mags earlier in the year on the letters page. I copied the idea from a room I saw with it in big black actual alphas on a shelf - my version is a template on some of my 12x12 papers. Added a little Japanese doll.

last Christmas card....and top 3

I hope this is the last Christmas card I will be making - in fact this is probably the first for next year as all mine are all written and posted. It is for the following challenges:-
Anyone for Anya -last Christmas (card)

Nutshells -Christmas card using any line of stamp they carry

Crafty creations-traditional Christmas colours red, green and gold (look at the cloth on her basket for the gold!)

I used one of the new signature Anya's. I cut out one of the holly leaves and berries and mounted them on foam pads and added some green glitter and red bling - pity it doesn't really show in the photo.

So excited that I got one of the top three awards this week at Susie's Die Cut Dreams challenge for my flapper anya card on a theme of Glitter me silly.
I also have a blog award but am trying to think of seven interesting things about me before I can post/pass it on!

Early night for me tonight as I have a 9am meeting in London and need to be on the 6.28am train!

I did it again!

Decorated another gift bag! After making the bag at Victoria's SU workshop last week I decided to have another go this time to decorate the bag to hold all the little goodies I have bought for a friend for Christmas. Once I had actually made the bag I wondered if it would fit any challenges - yeah I know wrong way round! - but getting the bag made was the important thing here LOL!
I am amazed it fits all these challenges - the most I have ever entered with one project:-

Stamp Something - Holidays

Hand Full of Stamps -It's all about red

Stamp with us -Christmas - used SU eyelet border punch and darling dots stamp on the tag

Allsorts -Anything but a card
Saturday challenge-last minute gifts (it certainly is!)

Crazy 4 challenges-A treat package

Glitter me silly

Susie over on Die cut Dreams challenged us to "glitter me silly" this week. So out with the lovely Martha Stewart glitter. I had also bought some of her fine applicator glue but sorry Martha I don't think it is as good as a quikie glue pen! The image is Flapper Anya which I got this week - she is so cheery- this means she also fits Anyone for Anya who want "bring on the bling" so duly added some bling to the glitter. She also fits anything but Christmas on Charisma Cardz.

The card is SU-bashful blue. the background glitter paper I have had for ages and was "saving" LOL! ribbon is SU Tempting turquoise, stamped sentiment is part of a Dandelion and Daisy set.

Festive gift

After making a similar bag at Victoria's SU workshop last Saturday I have itching to have another go. I wanted to give some chocolates to a couple of people and thought that they would look so good in one of these bags - hopefully makes them a bit more special. I'm entering them for the following challenges:-
The Pink elephant-Winter/and/or Christmas
Creative Inspirations-Christmas Gift
Bubbly Scrumptious - Christmas food
The tops are Kraft card covered with free papers from a mag, bottom one is punched using SU Eyelet punch. Made the tag by using a cuttlebug embossing folder, one side patterned paper one side plain with some green and pink chalks rubbed over.

Right now back to wrapping presents!

WOYDW

Just killing a bit of time for I have to go to an appointment so I thought I would post "What's on my desk Wednesday". I've never done it before but it is certainly different looking at your desk through a "photo"! I enjoy looking at some of the others that post so thought I would share mine today.

As I was about to take the photo realised I had left the top off my Pritt stick again (for millionth time!). I just got today the Popcorn bear stamp which was reduced at Bunny Zoe crafts. Now I am not sure now whether I have got a bargain as I didn't realise how big it is and I find I don't have an acrylic block this big! So need to buy a new block now. On the upside it is fantastic value for money and will certainly make some lovely Special cards for next Christmas. I also got from her some new greeting farm stamps - one of which is "flapper Anya" saw this on someones blog and she just makes me smile everytime I look at her. So look out for a card with her asap.
You can see my new Stampin up goodies which I only got on Saturday and so now need a reorganise to be able to put them away.
Also got some punched out leaves that I was hoping to make a wreath out of to put on a card, an idea I CASED from someone else. My punch jammed and the OH had to mend it (so surprised he did) when he asked had I used any force on it I didn't tell him about the hammer I used in frustration!! mended now anyway but too late to make the card for this year.
My "Fifth Avenue" lady stamp is always on my desk, just because I like to look at it.

Going dotty!

Two new challenges for me with this card. First Daring Cardmakers with going dotty and I then used the sketch from Stamp with Us because now I have loads of SU goodies I can use. Stamps and ribbon (certainly celery) are SU as is the pale pink card which I think is Blush blossom. Coloured the cupcake with sakura pens and used my nesties to cut the circles. Patterned card is K&Co with K& Co stickers at the corners.

Anything goes

Over on The Creative Card Crew the challenge is "anything goes" so I am entering this card I made for a friend's Mother who has just had a stroke - hope it cheers her up. I used my PTI set "on the couch".

A card and my first SU workshop

I'm entering this into the challenge of Cupcake Craft challenge for a 5x5 birthday card.

I had a lovely time on Saturday at the first Stampin Up workshop that Victoria held. Above are the cards, bag and Snowman soup I made! A very productive and enjoyable morning all finished off with a chip cob!

Victoria in full swing.

Me yakking instead of crafting!

Dreaming of summertime!

Over on Charisma Cardz the challenge is to interpret "Dreaming of Summertime". Now I had the last of my winter Anya's already coloured and had decided to use it for these challenges

Anyone for Anya - anything goes

Allsorts - colour purple somewhere

Colour Create - Lilac or purple with Aqua, black and white

so with a little bit of creativity I coloured in the summer Anya and used some snowballs as thought bubbles! Hope you like it!

sugar bowl challenge

After my marathon blogging last night I went on to make this card for a lovely lady who is going to be 75 in a couple of weeks. For some reason I was stumped as to what I wanted to do but found the sketch on Sugar Bowl and used that. I hope she won't mind that I put her age on the card, I did it very small! So, I woke up this morning and felt awful - headache, retching - was it all that blogging? Slept until lunch and am just about ok now - so much for all I wanted to get done today.

I'm entering the card into the Sugar Bowl Challenge as it features the lovely Daisy stamp from Sugar nellie. Unfortunately it can't be entered into any other challenge if you want to go in the prize draw which is a shame because it fits a "purple" challenge over on Allsorts too.

winter sparkle

The last of my Anya's for tonight - I have one more coloured in but not sure what to do with her yet. I decided to opt for a new approach and stamp some images and colour them in ready for when I have time to make cards - saves a bit of time and means things are a bit drier because I am so impatient just want to put it all together at once! She is for the challenge on Crafty Calendar for Winter sparkle - it is on her accessories - some blue glitter and for Papercutz challenge #20 for a Christmas hand stamped image.

Brr - winter

I made this card using some Anna Griffin embelishments and ribbon and background paper. I have run some Kraft paper through the cuttlebug and used a punch on the bottom edge. I wondered what the swiss dots would look like on Kraft and am pleased with the result. This card is for the Cuttlebug spot challenge with the winter theme.

colour me wonderful

the challenge over on The Pink Elephant is to use your favourite colouring medium. Ever since I got promakers I have loved them - I find Joanna Sheen is the best price with free p&p and so quick, she has beaten another smaller order to my door this week.

So another Anya coloured with the Contemporary christmas promarkers. She also fits the Cute Card Thursday challenge for a "girly" card and Crafty cardmakers for a alternative coloured Xmas card. Watch out for another post shortly with her in a different colour combo.

no red or green!

I had decided to colour some Anya's in with my Christmas contemporary promarkers to go with the background papers that I had. Then I saw on Paperplay and Spoon full of sugar that the challenge was a Christmas themed card but with no "red or green" which fitted perfectly with my card - I added a ribbon and it then fitted Nutshells challenge which is to use any of their range of stamps they carry (i.e. Greeting farm) and add a ribbon.

I did the most stupid thing with my cuttlebug the other night which will give you a laugh. I had it open and tried to move it, thought it was stuck on something - evenutally the penny dropped that when it is opened a suction forms with the table to "stop it moving" DOH!!!!

Glitter - buttons

This is the second of my cards I have made today for Christmas - when I discovered I didn't have enough!

The challenge on Forever Friends is to use Glitter - I used my glue pen to highlight sections of the paper and then glittered in lovely pinky/purple. The little forever friends sticker is mounted onto a scrap of Kraft to highlight and three tiny buttons added which means it also fits the challenge on Allsorts which is to use buttons.

Green, Red and white

I've had no time for blogging recently. Finished my chores/studying for today so thought I would get some Xmas cards written out. Discovered that I didn't have enough! So, the challenge of green, red and white on Colour Create provided me with some inspiration and I also wanted to use my newly acquired Kraft card.

I have seen on Monica's blog a Stampin up medalion card stamped in white on Kraft where half of the medalion is used on the edge, and thought I would see if I recreate that look - not sure I quite pulled it off - might just need to buy that stamp afterall LOL! I used two small Docrafts snowflake stamps.

I also used my new Stampin up eyelet punch along the edge of the card but I haven't managed to pick it up in the picture except at the very top.
Very excited as Victoria -see her special candy on my sidebar- it turns out lives very local to me and is having a stampin up party and I am invited - can't wait!

Christmas for the guys

This is my first time entering the Penny Black Saturday challenge. I used some papermania christmas paper to back the card then mounted a different pattern onto some gold mirri board added some parcels that were free with a mag and added the little Penny Black Hedgehog - I put PEACE as he looks so peaceful asleep. that was going to be it but I decided if I added some ribbon it would look like a giant parcel.

Snowflakes

I had another day off today as I attended a charity literary luncheon with champagne! lovely. The guest speaker was Alexander McCall Smith (you may know him best for the No1 Dectective Ladies Agency Books) he was an excellent speaker and very amusing.

I made this card and added lots of glitter as it is for a friend's sister and she LOVES glitter. Not sure I have captured just how "glittery" it is. I used Martha Stewart Glitter and I just went over the snowflakes with my quickie glue pen and then sprinkled it over. Love the glue pen, had to order another one today as I am about to start my spare one and would not like to be without one!

The papers I have used before, they are from a craft magazine and this is the end of them now. The white paper was an offcut from a 12x12 and I used my new stampin up punch to edge along and then with the glue pen went around the holes and covered with translucent glitter.

I am going to enter it for these challenges:-

Bizzy Becs Creatilicious challenge - snowflakes, glitter and sparkle

Charisma Cardz challenge - Merry and bright

Imagine this....snow

On 365 cards today - yeah I am actually doing a challenge on the day it is posted! - day 259 is "imagine this...snow". My Joy at snow of course is confined to when I don't have to go anywhere in it, then I am less than joyful about it all. Not sure you can see the ribbon but it says "let it snow" across it.
I am pleased with this card in the fact that I have recycled the "joy" tag from the front of the Liz Earle paper brochure it received - it was a shame not to as it is high quality embossing. By the way I use her cleanse and polish - it is excellent and smells lovely.

Perfect pair?

I am getting to quite a few challenges on 365 cards this week albeit in the wrong order and later than they should be! On day 256 they asked if rick rack and buttons were the perfect pair. I initially didn't enter this because I have no rick rack ribbon, but then I found this rick rack paper version so was able to enter. I've never made a Winter birthday card before as my own birthday is in December I remember only too well as a child when people who wrote in a Christmas card "Happy Birthday" too!!! (Well it hurts when you are a child!). But I think Anya looks good as a winter birthday card.

Bring out the bling!

This is the fab picture to inspire us on day 257 on 365 cards. You don't have to put a cupcake on your card (which as it turned out is good!). Now I LOVE cupcakes I really do but I could not get a card together for some reason. I was however drawn to the free magazine pink snowflake paper I had, which I could do with using as it doesn't seem to go with any other papers.

Next I found myself getting out the purple mirri board and matting and layering, looked for some hearts and found the pink snowflakes (when did I get those??) next thing I knew it fitted the Allsorts challenge to bring out your bling, (only just under the wire for that one) as well as 365 cards. Her coat and boots are a pale blue but taking a photo this late at night the result isn't too good (edited 14 Nov with new piccy). I also stamped the whole image in purple ink.

I have been using an xcut corner punch since I got it with some blog candy I won the other day. The thing is amazing - you can see I have used it on each of the layers and I think I prefer it to the straight corner.

It's Anya

On Anyone for Anya this week the challenge is to use this recipe

3 papers excluding the card base

2 buttons

1 bow

This is a BIG card - 7"x10" which you can't really see in the picture. I have used two K&Co sheets and then a triangle of vellum that reflects one of the patterns, from my scrap box. Used my new Stampinup punch along the edge of one of the papers. Coloured Anya with Promarkers.

New or neglected

I was going to do soooo much today! I managed three cards - why is it my Mojo goes when I have a whole day to play? but there is always this evening LOL! This card is for Creative Inspirations challenge where you can use a new or neglected stamp, well I have plenty of both!

I decided to use a new Tim Holtz stamp that I love - it took me ages to track it down and then I found it by accident, but this is the first time I have used it.

Put a lid on it....

When I saw the title "put a lid on it" on 365 cards today I didn't hold out much hope of doing the challenge, til I read they wanted a "hat" on a card. So - here it is.......

Stamp and sentiment stamp are CDees.
If you have a moment and are in the UK can you please click below to sign a petition to get the Prime Minister to intervene in the five Land Registry offices proposed to be closed and the loss of 1,500 jobs. thank you.

Blue, silver and white

The theme for a card over at Colour Create Challenge is Blue, silver and white. I've made this Christmas card and you can't see it on the first picture but there is a strip of sticky patterned ribbon down the inside of the card that shows through the torn edge. I'm also entering this for the Winter Wonderland challenge on By the Cute and Girly.
I have a day off tomorrow - so expect!

Christmas

Susie Sugar has a brand new challenge over at Sassy Designs by Susie (see also my sidebar) the them for the first challenge is Christmas. Here is a card I made using some free magazine papers and a stamped image that someone sent me - it might be Penny Black? which I coloured in with promarkers and a white sakura gelly pen.

This and that

I have been working hard on my dissertation research - spent all this afternoon coding secondary data-how exciting I hear you all cry LOL!

I really want to make some cards as my first SU order arrived with a lovely punch and the blog candy I won from Clare Curd arrived and it is fantastic. I also got a Martha Stewart starter glitter kit - I have only had time to play on scraps but the glitter is out of this world - apparently it is blended so you get the illusion of it being more sparkly. The gold glitter is not from Martha I was experimenting to see if the kit would work with my own glitter stash.

Last Saturday my Australian penpal Marjorie was here visiting, she is also a crafter but her other half switched off when we talked craft. I took them to the industrial museum so he was happy there!

I am posting a picture of a card I made for my partner's Mother - I don't think this type of card is really accepted in a challenge because all I did was chose the elements to assemble, I did however mount it on some lovely 12x12 Anna Griffin cardstock (one whole sheet used in one swoop!).
