Ruby, Cream and Gold

This is the card I have made for the challenge on colourcreate of using Ruby, cream and gold. The ruby hasn't shown up too well in the photo though!
I used a border strip at the bottom and then put sticky ribbon in between the rows.

Black and white again

I found a new challenge to me at Charisma Cardz. They are looking for a scrapbook page this week. I made a card (here) awhile ago that had these same papers and one of the stamps. I liked it so much I wanted to scrap with the same idea and this challenge gave me the get go to do it. I think these pictures of my garden earlier in the year go well with the papers and I used another stamp I have to balance the other corner.

Really looking forward to a long BH weekend here in the UK. I am up to date with my MBA work so I can afford to take the whole extended weekend off - yipee!! I did this card for the latest Sugar Bowl Challenge which is a sketch using of course a Sugar Nellie stamp and this time also buttons. So, I have used my fav - Daisy - she is so cute.

Why is that when you have the time your mojo seems to go? Finally got time to get going on the special xmas cards. I bought a Patchwork pals kit from QVC and when I saw it on the TV everything looked so easy, now it seems none of the bits look like they make what I thought they would! Here is my first attempt.

Friendship with Hearts and flowers

I think this might be a first for me - I have designed a card to fit two challenges!

On Die Cut Dreams they would like hearts and flowers on the card and on Creative Inspirations they want the card to be a friendship card. Hopefully they agree that this fits the bill.
I have had the stamp for a long, long time. I bought it just after I had been on a course on how to get the most out of your stamps. The idea was that I could cut this image up and get more use from it uhm - think I maybe did that once LOL!

House leeks!

No craft to post as I have been busy submitting my proposal for my disertation and writing my current assignment - can be disciplined sometimes Hee Hee. Thought I would share with you some of my favourite plants which are House leeks or if you want to be posh - sempervivums. Not much going on in my garden right now apart from these and the hydrangea.

B is for buttons

The ABC challenge this week is for buttons on your card. I made this card for my neighbour's granddaughter who will soon be 2. The buttons are on the bottom lefthand corner if you are wondering LOL!

ABC's and 123's

In Day 172 at 365 cards challenge you have to have alpha letter stickers and a number somewhere on your card - I tried to do something different! Did I pull it off?

Bunny hug

This is a card I have made from the sketch on Sugar Bowl challenge this week. You had to make the flowers yourself, no primas etc. So, I used peel offs over vellum and cut around them. The stamp is a Sugar nellie as is the sentiment, the accent papers are from a forever friends pad, the background paper is Anna Griffin.

Trying on shoes

I took the photo on the left of the scrapbook page at the Chicago Art Institute. It shows ladies trying on shoes and was painted in 1910 but I didn't write down the name of the artist. The photo didn't come out too clear due to the low level lighting, which is a shame because it is a very evocative painting, but as there wasn't a postcard of it, this is the best I could do. I decided to scrapbook it with the theme of "then and now" showing nothing has really changed in 100 years, ladies still love their shoes! It also fits the Paperplay challenge this week of "shoes".

Had a go at making some simple cards last night as I have seen a lot of this style and they seem so elegant. I did not want to leave that hideous card I made as my last post, so these aren't for a challenge just for me. I did find that I am too messy to make these cards LOL. I did this first one and found a tiny speck at the top of the card- where did that come from? So, to cover my tracks had to chalk the background.

Then I did these two. Also found that the ribbon was not too easy to stick down in a straight line so resorted to ready glued stuff.

Then I had a final go with this one and it seems to me the best. I posted them in the Docrafts gallery and this one got the most votes so far.

Then today disaster struck, well I struck myself with a kitchen knife doing something stupid! Blood everywhere, couldn't get it to stop. Had to cancel going to the hairdresser, who I find is leaving and so can't make another appointment with her - aaggh. Hurts to type so have to limit this. So no card making either, had to study!!!

It seemed so easy......

I read the receipe challenge for day 166 on 365 cards

Ingredients -4x7 card

5 blossoms

wet embossed sentiment

3 different patterned papers

I can do that I thought - read some of the others comments about how hard they thought it was but I just got on with it. Umm I am not sure about the result, it was going great until I added my dreaded handwriting for the wet embossing, then because I had used an embossing pen it just looked like felt tip so I went over it again with the pen and powder. Maybe have to put this one down to experience! Used some flowers from my stash and added glitter in the centres, hope they count as "blossoms" had them awhile as part of a scrapbook kit and didn't know what to do with them. There are three papers here, although two are very similar, and they are from a DCWV stack.
On another note - I love Anna Griffin paper. Did you know she has a blog - stop here if you do.

Oooh, it is so lovely, there are pictures of her shop in Atlanta where I could just go and stroke everything!

The challenge over on Allsorts this week for challenge 13 is vintage. I know I said I would not be doing so many challenges this week because of studying, but... I have been good and done some for tonight and am on target so I decided to treat myself to making a vintage card, as I love vintage. Also, I had these C-Dees stamps which I have never used, they came as part of a set which was a bargain and I keep forgetting I have them LOL. The card was already embossed with a gold border top and bottom and the gold script in the background.
I don't think it turned out too bad for a late at night card although the lighting is not so good for the photo.

the challenge on 365 cards today is "masking" with the option of glitter. As soon as I saw the DT card I knew I had the exact same kit which I have never used! Although I love the idea of playing with the glitter I am not sure what to do with the end result from this kit.

The Art glitter kit comes with pieces of lace and two shades of glitter. You stick the lace with low tack glue to the card and sprinkle over one of the glitters, then remove the lace and sprinkle the other shade of glitter over the areas not previously exposed to the glitter. The effect is the two tone glitter lace. I then added a little preprinted decal that I just got and coloured it in with my sakura pens. As I worked from right to left I managed to smudge the first flower, so that is why there is a little holographic butterfly sitting over it!

I've had a break......

I have had a lovely few days away in Northern Ireland on the coast. Here is a picture of a beautiful beach at White Park Bay. You won't believe it but about 15 minutes after I took this photo and we were down on the beach a torrential thunderstorm broke and we got drenched, the rain was really heavy and icy. Although we had some rain we had some good weather on the whole.
This was my favourite place on the holiday and the first day - Mussenden Temple - it used to house a library. It is literally perched on the edge of a cliff with the beach down below.

Won't be doing so many challenges as I now have an MBA assignment to study for and submit - so it's head down for a while with the books.

Thanks to Suzi at Sugar and Spice for a lovely award whilst I was away and for the circle of friends from Carolyn.

Planes, trains and automobiles

Yipeee! I made all seven days of 365 cards this week. This is the last entry which has to have a mode of transport on it. I just managed to find this little moving truck stamp in my stash, otherwise I would have been stuffed! I won't have the time to participate next week, so wanted to get the week done.

I used a pre-embossed card because it kind of looked like a road to me, and chalked the bottom half with earthy colours, and the top with sky colours. Sentiment is handwritten (don't like my writing on cards).
