Black and white with one other colour

I've made this card for the challenge over at Die Cut Dreams. Black and white and one other colour......can you spot it? Hee Hee.  I've just finished watching the business Inspector and she had a little Westie which just reminded me of mine (no longer with me) and here he is on this card. There were also two westies which out of all the dogs went and licked the camera - trust a westie!

WOYWW nearly Easter

I am in the middle of about three or four different ideas here! The main card you can see is for our blogging friend Paula and I'm using Coffee Kiki from CC designs. Then I am experimenting with the SU greenhouse garden set for a challenge with choc and yellow, think I have just about perfected the flower I want now. Top right is my new spice rack (see a previous post) with my bits and bobs in, it is working because three elements are going on this card. Then some more Sharon Duncan and other images I have printed for another idea. The shoe is still sitting there, but may get made up this weekend. My Leanne Ellis stamp sitting there from the card I just finished, (FAO Cardarian you can get them at Funky kits).

flowers - CRM style

I used a Leanne Ellis rubber stamp but where the hearts should be hanging down I replaced them (and the flower in her hair) with a CRM (Charles Rennie Mackintosh) style flower. They are from an Nouveau style CD by Sharon Duncan. The background paper is Kanban from a QVC kit and until I owned the CD rom did not want to let it go but the CD rom is fab with even some x-s patterns on it.
I'm entering it into the challenge on Crafty Calendar which is for flowers.

Look what I've got....

These are the cards and bag to put them in that I made at Victoria's workshop yesterday. I had such a good time and learnt a new technique of faux effect paper tear. the stamps are from the new SU mini catalogue. Have a look at Monica's blog for use of the same stamps in a different colourway to see how completely different this set can look.
After the workshop I went to buy a new blind and also came back with.......
I've seen some other bloggers using spice racks so I thought this would be ideal, it spins too which is great and hopefully means I will remember to use some of these little goodies in future!

Lastly, here is a picture I bought from Wipso from Sisters Crafters Creations. I asked for big friendly white daisies and I think she delivered. I also wanted the little sentiment to be added which is a quote from the film "You've got Mail"don't ask, just me LOL!

Thinking of you

This is a card for someone who has just suffered a bereavement - because I  work with people all over the country it is difficult to send joint cards. However, in this instance it involves people at our HO in London and I am going there on Monday. So I got the colleagues here to sign a blank piece of paper and brought it home with me yesterday and then made the card and popped it in for the rest to sign on Monday. My boss suggested she buy a card but that would have meant bringing it back on Monday and it not going til Tuesday - still with me? I hope everyone thinks that it is suitable.
I've used SU flower stamp and pink cardstock which is punched along the edge with a Fiskars punch. Used some sticky Laura Ashley ribbon and added a MS punch butterfly. I'm entering in into Colour create who want pastels and Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge who want Pink, green and flowers.
Off to Victoria's class soon - don't know what we are doing but I am sure to have fun as a couple of other bloggers go to the class too. Share with you later.........

male birthday card

This card is exactly what it says on the post title - birthday card for a man! I'm entering it into the Cards for Men challenge, where they want birthday cards -no other criteria. It also fits Stamp with Us as I have used the SU stamp set Good Neighbours.
This card started with me deciding to make something from my scrap box. I actually used two small pieces-the strip down the side which is DCWV and the clouds at the top and trees on the left are stamped onto some pale blue paper. I then decided to commit cardmaker sin and stamp directly onto the card!!! Wouldn't have been able to do it without my stampamajig.
So scrapbox has about 10million scraps to go.!

WOYWW 24.3

I have to admit to still having things on the left of the desk that have been there for 3 weeks now! I've moved my altered Ikea drawers off the desk to give me more creative room, but it just means I can leave more on here LOL. I have my new Studio Calico Home Front papers all the way from USA - love love them and underneath some of the new Cosmo Cricket Material girl. On top are my newest grey collection of promarkers.
I am attempting to alter a Leane ellis design (sorry it is lovely but) to cover the hearts with Charles R Mackintosh type roses. I was having a go at doodling too - uhm started off ok then I went too far, just the same at school with colouring in....
At the back of the desk is the easter gift ready for my lovely neighbour.

Pile of cupcakes-yum

This is one of my new digis from Bugaboostamps. I love shopping on the internet and I love the fact that you get digis instantly even better! I've used the sketch from Papertake Weekly challenge. the papers are from my stash and the sentiment is an SU label stamp which I coloured around the edge of to make a bit more girly. I've tied a little piece of dental tape I rubbed through pink ink (yes dental tape) in the button as it is small enough to get through the holes. This idea was on someone's blog but of course I can't remember whose-if it was you please let me know and I will credit you for the idea.

I'm entering it into these challenges:-
Papertake weekly -sketch
Cupcake Craft - food and drink
Oooh-la-la - a button, bow and bling

Spring has sprung

I decided to make my Easter cards after  found this cute bunny freebie digi on Bugaboo stamps, I also bought a couple of digis that I couldn't resist so watch out for those.
I coloured the bunny with my promarkers and then used a sakura clear gel pen to highlight his nose, pinks of ears and pads and the eggs. I also highlighted the middle bunny on the DP and the flower although it hasn't shown up in the photo! I used an SU punch to make the flower and a sparkly brad through the middle. There are a lot of challenges for spring/Easter at the moment so I am entering into:-

Crafty catz - spring
A spoon full of sugar - Easter
Fab 'n' funky - something new (which is the digi image)
allsorts - Spring
Secret crafter Saturday challenge - Spring
Magical Crafts - Spring/Easter
Stampin' for the Weekend - Easter

Pack a punch

My mojo was missing yesterday but I really wanted to use my new Trendy trees set. Susies Die Cut Dreams Challenge got me going as she wants to see the use of at least two punches on your card. I used SU circle punch, scallop circle punch, eyelet border punch and for good measure MS butterfly punch. I used a Sakura glitter pen to highlight the stamping on the trees and the butterflies.
It also fits these challenges as a lot are open ones this week:-
Papercutz - anything goes
Ooh La La Creations - anything goes

WOYWW St Patricks Day

I had a tidy of my stash at the weekend and decided to haul out the first stamp set I ever bought at a fair in about 1990. I have opened out the instructions so you can see how fun it all was back then and the great techniques, which we still use of course but so much better now. I was going to get rid of them, I took out the sentiments, then the clouds and grass, the butterfly, the present, oh... I may as well just keep them you never know! They are a bit stiff but still stamp ok.
My other stash next to it is a bargain I found on clearance on QVC - never seen them on a show and they were reduced to £10 with some matching papers, decals and chipboard pieces which I have "tidied" away.
A free digi image (can't remember where! Edited to say - it is from Ooh La La creations) I got of a shoe which I am going to have a play with.

Dressmakers dummies........

I always used to make my own clothes from about the age of 13. The scrapbook page shows me wearing a dress I made in  1978,  which I was so proud of, very Laura Ashley but not in the real material as it was too expensive! I have always loved things with sewing items on them and dressmakers dummies. The cross stitch picture I stitched in 1995. When I tried to get the pattern I was wrongly told it was discontinued so I wrote to a x-s magazine and asked if anyone had the pattern I could borrow. This began the friendships I have with people around the world. In particular my friend in the USA who I went to stay with, and my friend in Australia who has been over here and met me twice. When I had finished the x-s picture my then MIL said "oh lovely....why hasn't that lady got a head???" (I kid you not and she was a seamstress too!). It still makes me laugh to see this picture and remember her remark. So I was doing a bit of daydreaming and realised that I had also purchased these three little mannequins that sit in my bedroom, in front of a couple of cards I have made and can't bear to part with. Then sitting at my desk I realised that one of my pieces of research for my MBA has a dummy on it too! How spooky is that - could that be why I was actually drawn to the paper rather than for its academic merits LOL!
No cards at the moment - and yet I have more time.Saturday I spent tidying my stash and think it is under better control - for now!  Still another rework for the dissertation but this is hopefully the last.
My OH Mother had me hook line and sinker at the weekend. She said very casually had Stewart told me she had been going to card making classes - NO I said thinking they could have told me. She gets a card out of the drawer and says what did I think, well it was really good and I am saying so and saying how I am glad she is making cards when they both start laughing and she says " I bought it at the charity shop" but we thought it would be a good laugh to let you think I had made it! She should be on the stage the little tinker I fell right into that one.

WOYWW 10.3

I got my latest SU order and only got time to put together the greenhouse garden set and have a quick play as you can see on my desk top - the blue splodges! Not sure now that I have enough inks that tone together to make this work as well as I would like! The other two sets are waiting to be put together. You can see my latest stash from the USA too - Websters papers which I could not find anywhere overhere and some other odds and ends to make the P&P viable!! I've also had my MS stamps out that go with my glitter set, keep forgetting about them as they are not with my other stamps and there are some cute bunnies which could be for Easter cards. You can see the remnants of my last Xmas card where I ran out of alphabet.
Yesterday I met up with Paula of Paula's Paper Playground I say met, I think I almost moved in with her. I arrived at 1.30pm and left at 9.30pm - good thing her husband wasn't around 8 hours of two women talking non-stop except when we were laughing. I had such a good time and it is all down to linking up to her via WOYWW - good service you provide Julia! I also met her lovely sons, cats and her adorable dog Dylan who has the softest coat he is a real sweetheart.

Something girly

After I used this dress form the other day I thought I would try and do a set of cards in different colours. I don't think I quite pulled it off this time but I do like the colours which are my favs. I'm entering it into the Stamp something challenge which wants anything girly.

I've also made this card not for a challenge, but because I saw the idea on this blog - and 'cause I have the stamp had to give it a go. I've used Mirri card for the backing, not really a Mirri girl but bought a pack from QVC and it needs using! I realised that the colours I used all had matching MS glitters, so I just highlighted the middle panel by using a glue pen. Used the MS butterfly punch again - can't stop punching them out of any odds and ends, and then I found some butterlies that it fits over almost perfectly and used them on this card by putting three together, another idea I got from the same blog.
Off to watch Dawn B's TSV on QVC now.

Red, black, off white and girly

I love this card - I can't stop looking at it. The little chandelier has glitter on it but it doesn't show up too well in the photo. I tried to CASE Sarita's style when I made this, I kept saying to myself "what would Sarita do". It's not quite there but it is certainly a style I would not have come up with on my own. I got a bigger version of one of the little dress forms I used the other day (couldn't resist and intend to combine them on one card at some point). Used that MS punch again!
It's for Colour create challenge, red, black and off white and for Simon says challenge who wants a Mothers day/girly card.

Girly Christmas

I had all good intentions of making Christmas cards each week for the challenge. I think this is the first one I have done - but once the dissertation is over that can change. My tutor has had another look and found things that he didn't mention last time - not too pleased (understatement!!), which he picked up on! anyway, head down and some reworking required, it's over 100 pages now so it's getting difficult to remember what is where.

Anyway, to the challenge which is Susies and Vicky's Christmas Club and the challenge is girly christmas. I've used a CC stamp and coloured her with promarkers, adding some glitter and some bling from my stash. I have had the letter stickers for ages they were part of a desk calendar I bought in Canada. I went through and thought I had all the letters because some of them there were two, when I came to do it there was only one bloomin N - so mad. I've tried to rescue it, don't look too hard.

My desk for this week with some new stamps. Some stamped and coloured, some freebies printed and coloured. A new big stamp which I will reveal soon! New daisy embossing folder and MS punch which I can't stop using, suddenly every card needs a tiny butterfly to finish it off! All my promarkers nicely lying down since Paula said they shouldn't be stored upright, I swiftly changed my storage. The new display box is now housing stamps, some that have never seen ink! Look forward to catching up with your desk later.

Optimistically pink!

This card is for my OHs Granddaughter who will be 12 soon. Difficult because it can't be too childish and not too grown up - I hope I did a balance as she loves shopping! It's a big card 10x7 because the one I made the other day with Newton for her brother is that size, and they both have to have the same. Papers and ribbon are PTI. Sentiment free from a mag, flowers Anna Griffin. Handbag brad and bling from my stash.
I used the sketch from Anyone for Anya and it also fits these challenges:-
One Stop Craft challenge - optimistically pink
Cute Card Thursday -ribbon-tastic
Creative Inspirations - monochrome (white and shades of one colour)
Pile it on - Lucky (to have all that shopping!)

For a Mother

This is the card I have made OH Mother for Mother's day. She still likes to dressmake and I know she is going to love those dress forms just as much as I do. I found this stamp the other day it is by B Line and I bought two others too! The main image is Leanne Ellis (who left a comment on my blog the other day -I was so beside myself!). Seniments are from a mag, MS punched butterflies (they seem to be on all my cards at the moment!). I rubbed over the main card with green chalks and the main image with a pink chalk for a shimmering effect.
I'm entering it into Allsorts  and PaperPlay challenges who both want Mothers Day cards this week.
