How sentimental....

On One Stop Craft Challenge the sentiment has to be the focal of the card. I got this stamp from QVC a few years ago and it has only seen ink once before. It was one of those stamps I had to have! I do love it but never sure what to use it for. I have used SU very vintage wheel around the stamp and then added a Clarity stamp corner top and bottom.

Hello Kitty!

I do like Hello Kitty - I'm a bit old for it I know. When I made the Postpal card the other day, I noticed there was a girl on there who likes her too - so I put together this card and bookmark for her. I used the sketch from Paperplay. I've used a little handbag brad to hold the ribbon on the card and placed a little piece of black bling over the "registered trademark" on the sentiment sticker.

It's that stamp again!

I hope everyone is enjoying their BH Monday if in the UK. I'm feeling pretty good because I have finally repainted some metal garden furniture with Hammerite and done some gardening.
I've used the SU medallion stamp again but this time for Xmas. I used a big and juicy pad to get that colour variation and added a gem to the middle. It also has the tiniest amount of gold sparkle embossing powder just to give it a bit of a Xmas feel. I'm entering it into two Xmas card challenges over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and Totally Gorjuss challenge.

Heart to heart

This is a large card about 10x8, it is actually an aperture card I bought for something else but it is the wrong size. I used a background and the ladies having coffee from a Charmed Craft download. I altered the background slightly in my craft Studio by shading some of it, colouring the rest with promarkers. The "heart to heart" is a rub on that I thought looked like a coffee shop sign. I've added some stickers to the canopy and on the table. This is for the "drink" challenge on Corrosive Challenge.

The first and last page!

The very talented Amy at Tsuruta Designs has put a challenge on her blog to show the first scrapbook page you did and the last. The idea is to show how your style has changed. This is the very first page I did in 2006-I keep thinking I will redo it because I didn't have a clue and was so nervous to stick anything down. I used the backing paper because I used to be into the Bay City Rollers ( a UK pop band who wore tartan for my non UK friends) and it reminded me of the 70s. I used to go into photo booths and have my picture taken as a treat - we didn't own a polariod so this was as instant as it got LOL! Yes, that does say first perm - a lady down the road did it and I thought it was going to be all curly but no it wasn't!
You can't click on it to make it bigger - it is embarrasing enough as it is.

This is the page I've just made. I've joined Ancestry.co.uk to do some research and a lady on there has my paternal tree back to 1742-how easy was that! This is a picture I downloaded of my Great grandparents and their children, except that my Grandfather wasn't born yet so is not on it. I think this is about 1870 and he was born in 1874. These papers are Anna Griffin and I had hoped to be able to one day use a picture that would compliment the papers and here I think it is.

A card and awards

Something a bit different from me. I've added some ribbons along the edge of the card as I felt it was a bit boring otherwise. I was aiming for CAS but it didn't really come off. The stamps are from Particraft. The card is for the colour create challenge of Pastel Lilac, mint and yellow.

I've been lucky to receive two awards this week. The first from my lovely blogging friend Fiona (Lil Daffodil). If you haven't been to her blog you must go and see the wonderful flowers she creates.
I have to chose 7 blogs I like to visit and pass it onto them. Of course I have way more than 7 (and Fiona has picked some of those) I'm going to give it to:-

Card for Post pals and a Spyder freebie

Spyder is having a challenge and giving a great freebie of one of her lovely drawings (see card above) for you to enter. Go here for info how to get the freebie from Spyder and enter the  'Not Mushroom for a Mouse, House' challenge.
I saw on Julia's blog that the Daring Cardmakers challenge want cards for Postpals - I've made cards for them before, and thought this image would be lovely for a child. So far so good. When I got to the challenge after making the card - I find it should have the sentiment "Thinking of you". That will teach me not to check the actual challenge first - anyway for what it is worth I am still entering! DP is DCWV and the little ladybird is a recent purchase from Tapestry stamps.

Pretty in pink

Another card with the SU medallion stamp. This time embossed in pink and cut around with acetate behind it to form the card front. I added a group "bling" to the centre and individual stones around it. SU sentiment stamped on the inside, and the straight ribbon is on the inside with the bow on the outside - not sure about that now!
I'm entering it into:-
Stamp with fun - card for a girl
Aud Sentiments-Anything goes
One Stitch At a Time- use a shape
Bunny Zoe Crafts - vintage
Creatalicious - vintage
My few days off work haven't worked out so well as I don't feel too good still. Spent most of yesterday on the sofa either watching a film or asleep!  I even had the central heating on I was so cold and shivery. Then I sprang to life last night to finish this card.  I hashed the original front and so had to cut if off and decided to replace with acetate - so shouldn't craft when not feeling well but then the rescue seems to have come out more creative LOL!

B is for Blue

This is one of the first cards I stamped this morning (see post below) I then went a bit mad and stamped loads of variations, but had a great time! Now I need to decorate them up. This is the first one which I have chosen to make a Christmas card. I used the SU medallion and papermania sentiment with winter white sparkle embossing powder, then added some blue pearls and a bow. I'm entering it into:-
ABC challenge - B is for Blue
Creative Inspirations Challenge - Christmas
Moving along with the Times - Glitter

WOYWW in progress...

I have a day off today and so wanted to get crafting. I woke up feeling like S**t! Anyway I seem to be a bit better now and this is my desk in full swing so to speak. The SU medallion stamp is inked up and I am trying it on different coloured card with different embossing powders - so check back soon to see them made up. I have a craftrak card which is a WIP and a finished card with the dresses on which has featured on my blog before, that is there to remind me I want to do something with those dresses again. I also have a heap of shoe stamps I got off ebay which I don't want to put away or I will forgot I have them LOL!
If you want to know what I am on about go over to Julia at Stamping Ground and all will be explained.
I have a busy day today with someone tidying my garden now - that is lopping shrubs that have grown into trees back and the toilet being mended this afternoon. Got a new phone arriving - apparently between 11.13 and 12.13 now why can't B Gas be that accurate! Later........

Just a line........

Well it has been raining pretty heavily here. So I have just been having a play with my new SU stamp sets. I think they are retired now, I got them off ebay after a lot of patience and effort! There are four in this set, the other images are cakes, chairs and flowers. I typed the sentiments out on the PC.
The challenge on Stampin' for the weekend is "anything goes" so I am going to enter the first one into that. Only thing different with the second card  is that I embossed with black detail powder before colouring in deeper shades.

Uber pink

I've used Pink Petticoat digital paper as the background. I've stamped and embossed a sweet pea image which comes in two sizes and added a die cut flourish from Susie Sugar at Die Cut Dreams. I even coloured her hair pink - bit of a strawberry blonde I'm thinking!
I'm entering it into Sweet Pea challenge who want to see swirls and flourishes, Paperplay challenge the card has to be UBER Pink!, Charisma Cardz challenge who want to see die cuts and Creative Card Crew challenge - sparkle and shine. Finally Stamp something challenge is to use a digi image or paper.
Sweet Pea are also offering blog candy as long as you enter one challenge in August with them and link to them (see my sidebar for the link).

Fav things

The challenge on Craft Your days Away is to simply put your fav things on a card. I have had the chair stamp which is part of a set for a few months now, and this is the first time it has seen ink - it is one of my fav things, so is the colour of the ribbon and using punches. The sentiment is a PTI stamp which I have used several times before.  I also like the chic look? that I have tried to emulate with this card. It was going to be very CAS but seems to have ended up a little more than that LOL! I have also used a piece of heavy shimmer acetate that I have had for ages and not known what to do with. I experimented with the bug and a few different materials I had and was pleased with this result. One that didn't work out so well was some funky foam - I have a pack of it and never got around to really using it and I thought it would emboss- but no it didn't-not enough to see it!
I'm also entering the card into:-
Fab'n'Funky-fav colour
Polka doodles-acetate
One stitch at a time-use a punch

The keen eyed amongst you will have spotted the dolls and flowers coloured in and on my desk a few weeks ago. I saw the challenge for something oriental at One stop crafts challenge and knew these would be just the thing. I also have a pack of these trifold cards, which I have never used because they are so ornate, I worried what I could add to them! As you can see once I started it was easy and hopefully I haven't gone OTT.  The image is a digital one of a Kokeshi doll group designed by Sylvie Stamps which you can buy from here.

You rock my world!

The image for this card and sentiment are from Bugaboo stamps which I coloured with promarkers. the background papers are PTI. I added a little metal guitar charm and a couple of other metal circles. The one on the bottom left I made myself at a jewellery workshop a few years ago and it has been sitting in my bit box waiting for its day!
I'm entering this into Passion for Promarkers challenge who want to see the theme of music and Kaboodle Doodles challenge who want to see metal on a card. I made their top three in the challenge last week with my last Sweet pea card.

A week since my last post - don't know how that happened because I have had lots of ideas but just not got around to posting them. This is a card I have made for Flutterby Wednesday's challenge which is an open challenge this week as long as you have a butterfly, angel or fairy on the card. I used a punch for the butterfly and for a change did it directly onto the card and then because you can see through it put a SU stamped image inside the card in the corresponding place. The sentiment is SU and I stamped twice in two different inks for a shadow effect. The background is SU very vintage wheel with the frame from my stash.

Summer fun

I was determined to get some crafting time today and I haven't done too bad after a few housework jobs.
There are a few challenges at the moment around summer (yeah - where did that go?) so I thought this CC design would be perfect. I cut around her with a nestie then sponged the background with blue and brown. I found two flowers that I thought looked a bit beachy (!) do not know where they came from(??) and added some charms. I started with a blue brad but the other charm had a hole too small to get one through so had to change to silver. (Note to self check before piercing and securing next time.........) I also went over her glasses with a clear gel pen.
The background paper is actually a silk paper which was part of a scrapbook album.
Stamp with Fun - sketch
Quixotic-Life's a breach
ABC-A is for August (well it used to be sunny!)
One stop for craft-summer fun
Bunny Zoe-summer days

Just Magnolia

The challenge on Just Magnolia is to use acetate. When I was routing around for some DP last night I found this preprinted acetate and thought it would be ideal for a card. The black pattern is printed onto the acetate I have added some gems on the outside and a rub on greeting. The rest of the card is made from PTI papers with a Tilda image (won from Susie Sugar). I put a strip of PTI punched with my new MS punch down the inside of the card. The last view shows the back of the card.
I'm also entering it into White and bright at Papertake challenge and Cute Card Thursday where you can do "Whateva".
I had some goodies arrive this morning - the postman actually said when I opened the door to him "more supplies for you" - now how does he know!!!!
The first picture shows the surprise goodies I won in the Bugaboo challenge a couple of weeks ago-I was just about to order some flowers so that has saved me some money (well for about the next 20 minutes LOL!).
The next picture is my order from Imag-e-nation crafts. These Tapestry stamps are half price at the moment. I have always wanted to have a go with them but thought they were a bit pricey, so of course I jumped at the chance for half price.

Sweet pea

I followed the sketch from Sweet Pea challenge but flipped it. I used the colours from Kaboodle Doodles challenge of Purple, green, red and cream. It also fits the Crafts and Me challenge who want to see purple and green on a card. Sweet Pea challenge are also offering blog candy as long as you enter one challenge in August with them and link to them (see my sidebar for the link).
I used SU card as cardstock then some foiled Kraft paper. Some other bits from my stash and added some gems. The image is a stamp from Sweet Pea which I have cut out with a nestie.
Edited 7.8.10 with new photo - but I still can't get the glittery colouring on the image to show up!

Wednesday, 4 August 2010

First of all I PASSED my MBA - so that is it all finished now - no reworks nothing to do - yipee. Hopefully I will get a place at the graduation ceremony at Henley Business School in October.
My desk this week has some images I have been colouring, some new stamps and digi images. Some meltdust - as yet unopened and generally stuff I want to do.
I'm going to be getting a new role at work (as mine doesn't exist anymore!) I will be implementing the Lean method of working. It is all about getting the right things in the right place - so I am trying to be a good practitioner of this and clear away the project after I finish - once I am a real practitioner who knows what my desk will look like. You take pictures and display them in the office to show how everything you have used should be put back so others know exactly where they can find everything.......

Something yummy...

I still had some of the gingham paper I printed yesterday, and I thought it would go well with this cupcake digi from Nikki. The sentiments are from an SU cupcake set. Die cut from Susie at Die Cut Dreams.
I'm entering the card into My Time to Craft challenge who want cake or drink and Pink Elephant challenge who want something Yummy. Simon Says challenge - going dotty.

Cheeky HG Laundry!

You are probably familiar with TGF HG Laundry stamp-but can you see what I have done? I've taken the head from  TGF Cheeky Rockabilly and put it on HG laundry - doesn't she look a lot happier with her lot! I did this to enter a challenge to morph two TGF stamps together, only to find that whilst HG Laundry is allowed the cheeky stamp is not!
I followed the sketch at Tuesday morning sketches challenge and used the free My Minds Eye paper stack that came with a magazine. Added a couple of felt flowers with some gems and used a MS punch for the bottom border. I'm also entering her into Creative Card Crew Challenge who want to see Cute and Girly.
Had this afternoon off to wait for B Gas - they came at 4pm, so could have stayed at work IF I had known! The boiler needed a new circuit board and it was covered by my contract - so no money to pay - yippee!

Rock n roll

Polka Doodles would like to see a card that could be for a male or female - I decided that the image I used in the last post would look good with this juke box from Nutcrafters store. As she is a digi image I was able to resize her slightly. Sentiments are stamps from Papermania Honey & Hugs range. Peel off from stash and just as I remembered I had it they were playing Rock and Roll Radio by the Ramones on the radio! Background paper is Papermania too and is flocked.
I'm also entering it into Fussy and Fancy Friday challenge and Stampinsanity challenge who want to see pink and black.
Polka Doodles are also running a competition where they want you to use any image you have coloured so I am also entering into that with this card.

High Heels

This card began as an inspiration from Becky Kazana etsy shop. It is for a challenge I have only just found called Etsyinspired challenge. Becky has a piece of work with this same saying and I thought it would work perfectly with a digi freebie from a wonderful lady called Sylvie at Creative Mind of Sylvie. She has now started to sell her stamps, look out later for a card I am making with one of the purchased images.
The background paper is from my stash, not sure who it is by, the ribbon is SU. Flowers from stash and the image coloured with promarkers. I printed the gingham paper from a site I found on the internet. I've added some gems and sprinkled fine glitter on the flowers (although it doesn't show up too well).
I'm also entering the card into:-
Die cut Dreams challenge - gingham
Allsorts challenge-dressing up
OSAAT - touch of pink
Daring cardmakers-girlfriend/sister card
Sir Stampalot - bling
digital tuesday - sparkly
cute card thursday-text
I had today off, this is the only card I have made! However, I have coloured some images etc for other cards which may or may not follow! I had my walls filled with cavity foam today, because after living here for 14 years and thinking they were already filled I discovered they weren't! What I hadn't thought about is that the front of my house has cream stucco on the top level and now it looks as though birds have left their marks all over it LOL! So, that now means I have to get that repainted and to top it all the boiler won't light and BG can't come out until tomorrow - so at least I can craft tomorrow afternoon!
