This card was going to be for two challenges that I thought ended tomorrow, but the ladybug ink one is closed already! For that challenge I was going to add the stitching today - but as I hadn't done it I decided instead to stamp some swirls and emboss with mirror gold powder. I've added some little iridescent pearls on the tree, swirls and sentiment. The DP are Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and the background one was already scalloped around the edges so I just mounted it on to a 6x6 card.
I would like to enter the card into:-
Passion for Promarkers - Let it shine
Stamptacular Sunday- whateva! - which is how I feel now!

Flashback Friday 7.0

The challenge on Flashback Friday 7.0 at the moment is the first glitter card or layout. This one is from August 2009, oh dear what was I thinking! In my defence it was a 365 card and so I probably made it in a hurry. If you want to join in the fun (and dare air your past creations) then go to Amy's challenge and enter.

I also wanted to mention a site that a friend introduced me to only last week. Not craft this time, it is called It is a free site and I have lost 7lbs since using it and hopefully many more to come. It contains a food diary and you can enter what you think you are going to eat, but adjust it if you find it will take you over your goal for the day. It's all about portion sizes really!

Lavender and lace

Lavender and lace is the challenge on I love promarkers this week. Which was music to my ears as it is one of my fav colours. I've used an image from a My Craft Studio cdrom called "nursery rhymes". This is Tuesdays child (which I am!). She comes coloured in pink or as a digi to colour yourself. I've coloured her with my promarkers and tried to shade, but it just looks like bad colouring in to me!
I've used the sketch at Sketch 'n' stash which was really fun to put together. They want to know what stash you have used, well the background paper is OLD - a friend gave me a few sheets and as they are quite dark I've never found a use, until now that is. The other DP are Brenda Walton and the music is from a little book of papers. The flowers are from some packaging of a present. the lace ribbon which I have just found again! and is now featuring on all my cards LOL!
I'm also entering the card into the Allsorts challenge which wants to see recycling - I recycled the flowers.

Colours of your Country

The challenge on Creative Card Crew is - Colours of your Country. I am in England and yes I know the flag is actually red, white and blue, however, I've used a little artistic licence LOL! I've wanted to do a flag for ages and had a template from Docrafts magazine. I think the theme just prompted me to go for it.
I've used two glittered papers from the stash (aka paper mountain!) some pale blue paper and some clear patterned vellum. Placed a punched butterfly in the centre. The darker blue is actually some suede effect paper from HOTP which I have had for years, saving it for something!
I'd also like to enter the card into-
CES challenge blog - bold and bright
One Stitch at a Time - As you like it

I've broken the resolution of not buying any more craft stuff a few times this year! I had a resolute one though, that I would not buy any more paper. Then I saw these Websters papers........... (and the ribbon!)
I ordered on Wednesday from  The Craftz Boutique and it came this morning beautifully wrapped in this animal print tissue with the lovely personalised tag.

Cinderella is proof.......

Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life. That's the sentiment around the shoes on this card and I got it from The Glitter Chick on her take on this image a couple of months ago, find it here. She does some amazing and beautiful work and it is spooky the amount of stamps we have that are the same, so I am looking to her for inspiration to use them!
This card is for Kraftin Kimmie challenge - fairytales. It closes in an hour so I realised I needed to get a move on LOL! The image is of course from Kraftin Kimmie. Papers from my stash. Sticky lace ribbon top and bottom, which I then inked and cut up to form the flower cluster.
Sentiment and shoes created in My Craft Studio.
I would also like to enter it into these challenges which inspired me:-
Colour create - Lemon, Green and White
Moving Along with the Times - Spring
I am not a lover of green, so these challenges really got me out of my comfort zone.

A hug for Jack

It has been so long since Debbie blogged and I really missed her lovely cards. She has just blogged to explain her absence and ask for a card (hug) for her son Jack. If you would like to help out you can see the post on her blog here Passion for Crafts.
I asked what he would like and she said he likes jungle animals - so that is what I have done. I just got the CHIMP stamp from Barbara Gray as the part of the first Stamp club. I did rather wonder what I would use it for and a week later it is being used - fab! I've also used it to decorate the envelope. The papers/card are all DCWV.
I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-
Allsorts- male/boy
Stamps R Us - animals
Simon says - animal antics

Delight in your digi!

The challenge on Fab 'n' Funky this week is "delight in your digi!" which means you have to use a digi on your work. These shoes are the latest lovely digi freebie from Sylvie at Creative Mind of Sylvie. Now although I have lots of unused rubber and digis, these shoes just had to be used at once! I decided to paper piece the tops of the shoes and add a little peel off for the gemstone. The smallest layer is made using an embossing folder with an ink pad rubbed over, as is the sentiment.
Of course I had some bits over from the paper piecing, so I decided to make another card with the leftovers. this time I paper pieced the soles and coloured the uppers with promarkers.
Both cards also fit the challenge at PaperPlay - layer it up.

Thanks for all your good wishes, I am feeling a lot better than I did. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday though. Whilst I was off work and feeling sorry for myself, especially as I couldn't craft, look what came in the post from Lisa at Mess 2 Magic.

The candy I won from her Blogversary - thanks so much Lisa.

Pink and purple

I didn't post at the end of last week as I had a lot on at work, and felt under the weather. So, I was coming home and just sleeping in the vain hope I would ward it off. I continued the sleep theme over the weekend in between meeting a friend for coffee and a meal out. Come Monday morning I awoke with an almighty headache at 4.30am together with the bug symptoms I had been coping with. I took Monday off and then yesterday awoke at 3.30am with another awful headache. I made it back to work today a bit worse for wear still but getting there.
So, back to crafting, but an easy start. Couldn't resist the challenge at Winter Wonderland challenge as it is my favourite colours pink and purple. I know this isn't a Christmas card!, but for the moment the challenge is letting you enter cards other than Christmas.

Peacock feather

This is a new stamp of mine, just a simple peacock feather. I used a big and juicy pad to get the shading and embossed with clear powder and then added purple and blue glitters (which aren't showing up!). Sentiment at the bottom is punched with SU punch and SU sentiment stamped on. I threaded the silk ribbon through two slits I made in the card. I really wanted some purple ribbon, but had nothing suitable.
I've taken the challenge at Simon Says Stamp Challenge which this week is a bingo card option. I've gone for the bottom line of "punched/die cut, ribbon, embossing".

Pink, blue, grey and white

Here is another card using my new MCS Fab Glam Fifties cd rom. This is the most fun I have had since "Twinkle" magazine when I was a kid (probably no one under 40 is going to know what that was LOL!).  This time only the image comes from the cd and I printed the NSR image and coloured her in with promarkers, on the last card I coloured it digitally.
Three papers from my stash. The two I've cut out with my latest label dies are very treasured papers - but time to get them used! I staggered the two die cut pieces after I saw a card only yesterday on Crafty Chris's blog where she had done a similar thing. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Debbi Moore I just got and I've embossed it.
I'd like to enter it into these challenges:-
Colour create-pink, blue and grey
Delicious doodles-use 3 colours
Die Cut Dreams-use a digi and rubber stamp together
Stamp Something - anything goes

Sunday, 16 January 2011

This is a card I have made using the latest MCS cd rom Fab Glam Fifties. There are sooo many lovely fashion images on here I am going to be in my element. For this card I printed one of the backgrounds from the cdrom and then used it to place over the handbag which I sized separately and also over the Happy Birthday sentiment. I then printed the shop window topper and chose one of the ladies to stand in front of it. She is cut out separately and lifted on foam pads. I superimposed a pair of sunglasses over her as I thought it went with her arm being up and also took one of the large roses and scaled it down to become a corsage on her outfit. I made up the sentiment as I thought she looked liked she was wanting a rest!
I'm entering the card into Cupcake Craft Challenges who want to see something new-which is the cd rom.
So pleased to have made the top three at Stamptacular Sunday with the last card I posted!

Daisy, daisy.....

I've used the sketch on Stamptacular Sunday for this card. I've used a new Sheena Douglas stamp, added some MS extra fine glitter to the flowers, used some Papertrey DP with daisy vellum over the top. I've had that vellum since 2006 as I remember buying it in a sale and I so had to have it - but too nice to cut up - but I'm not doing that anymore LOL! I didn't have a nestie big enough for the image so I used my one of my X-cut frames on my glass mat, and what a difference it makes to using it on self healing mat. I then distressed the edges of the oval with my new Tim Holtz gadget and blended some distress ink around the edges (using the glass mat - very versatile eh?). I've added some ribbon and a sentiment rub on from my stash.
I'm entering the card into these challenges:-
Stamptacular Sunday-sketch
Charisma Cardz-birthday
Cute Card Thursday-out with the old (the vellum)
MAWTT- Ring out the old ring in the new (the vellum and the stamp)
Phindy's Place-distressing

Love is in the air

I was watching Barbara Gray yesterday (just after subscribing to both of her stamp clubs! at a great price - see Clarity Stamps website not C&C). Her heart stamp was about to sell out and one of the samples I noticed had used the top of the heart to make corners......... this is my take on that idea. So I didn't need to buy her stamp and saved money - yeah right! The papers are Craftwork cards and the xoxo is from a valentine Miss Cutiepie freebie download sheet. I've used an MS punch on the corners of the b/w paper. I coloured the heart with red glitter and white sakura gel pens.
I'm entering it into these challenges:-
Our Creative Corner- I used the colours in the photo for inspiration
OSAAT- Love and valentine
Bunny Zoe - Love is in the air

That seals it

On my Workdesk on Wednesday I had my wax gun (out of the box now and the yellow thing in this picture). So many of you asked what it was and what it did that I thought I would share with you my efforts so far. You basically melt solid wax with it, whilst the wax is liquid you stamp your seal into it. My seal is above (lilac) and has three interchangeable designs. Of course I need more now as I think I have maxed these out. While the wax is hot you can insert ribbon, sprinkle glitter into it etc. You can do it directly onto your project but it is messy to use and I thought a batch of them would be better on my craft sheet, which they easily lift off from. Now I have them ready to put onto cards.

Now for another card I have made with the Russian doll. This is a template on the cd rom, I have printed them again and decoupaged them over one another, added a little glitter. Printed the inlay from the cd rom and it also prints a lovely little doll on the back. This is the first time I have made a card completely from a cdrom, usually I cut the elements out. Pretty pleased with how it has turned out. I'm entering it into Craft your days away - anything goes.Delicious Doodles challenge - something new. I also got into their top three last week with this card - which is one of my favs right now.

Something new!

If you saw my blog on Wednesday you will have seen the three torsos I had ready to decorate. I have been meaning to do this for sometime and so when I saw two challenges to do "something new" I thought this is the time! The picture shows the order I made them and after the second one I thought I ought to break out of my fav purple. The third one started life as shades of aqua. Right at the end I decided the top left side looked empty and stamped the ladybird, but at the wrong part of the juicy ink pad. So, then I had a cerise ladybird with no other pinky bits, so of course I had to sponge over with some purply pink. I'm entering them into Creative Inspirations challenge- Something new and Sweet Stampin challenge - try something different. I'm also entering them into Stampin' B's Design Team challenge which is for an old favourite and something new. The Claddagh stamp on the third one is an old favourite and the Tim Holtz stamps are new.

New and blue

I've used a cd rom I've had a couple of months but only just got around to looking at properly. It is MCS "A little bit of folk". There are several Russian dolls on it and this is an easel card that also has a template for it. I've also added some MS glitter to her and instead of just having one flower as the stopper I resized it a couple of times and mounted it up to ensure it really does keep the card open. I love Russian dolls so there will probably be some more cards featuring them soon. I really liked that vodka advert a while back where it had the woman who got smaller and smaller just like the Russian dolls.
I'm entering it into New and blue (new is the cd rom) on Stampin' for the Weekend and For someone special on Totally Gorjuss.

What's on your workdesk Wednesday 2011

If you are new to WOYWW then pop over to Julia at The Stamping Ground and check it out.
I've added a little sentiment to my desk which I've enlarged below - I thought it said it all!
My desk this week is full of new beginnings and resolutions. My wax gun - still not used it but aim to soon. A candle, still not decorated but will be. Torsos to decorate and new embossing folders to use. I've also got my new glass mat which Julia said I had to have (honest just check her blog) and I am loving it. I have left a scratch on it already though - boo hoo using my ceramic knife.
I'll be round to your desk soon;)

Some sugar

I've made this card using the sketch at The Sugar Bowl for their current challenge to celebrate their 2nd birthday. You must use a Sugar Nellie stamp and this is one of their Manga girls. There is an option of embossing and I decided to use swiss dots on the oval background, which was dotty anyway, so wasn't too sure how embossed dots would look and of course they didn't fit over one another.
I'm sending this card to a Postpal who likes pink.

Sparkle and shine

My first tri-fold card and maybe my last! I got the template from Brenda on Floral Fantasies -thanks Brenda.
I was always told when growing up that "pride comes before a fall". I made a practice template, and that is a big thing for me as I like to get straight to it, I did all the measuring - I hate measuring and I can't do it, and it worked!  Then I began the card...... It looks ok in the photo, but I did have a few mishaps with it. I'm not sure now I realise the amount of accurate measuring required that I will be doing this again!
I've used papermania papers and one of the coordinating stamps. In case you think it is your eyes, the paper comes in two sizes and the image is resized accordingly, so the chandelier in the centre paper is smaller than the one on the edges.
I'm entering it into these challenges:-
Bunny Zoe - sparkle and shine
Creative Inspirations - something new (new technique to me)

Pink, red and white

I've used a Digi doodle shop image and coloured it with promarkers, added some glitter to the flowers and feathers on the hat. The sentiment is a rub on and the whole thing is on a Brenada Walton card blank which I thought went nicely with the image and fitted the Colour create challenge of Pink, red and white. BTW Digi Doodle have 50% off their images at the moment.
I'm also entering it into:-
Cupcake Inspirations-cherries and chives

OSAAT-anything goes

Just scrappin

I've been scrapbooking today. I've had the layout above in my head for ages and finally just went for it. I've used a couple of pictures of a shop at the open air Museum in Ironbridge Shropshire and teamed them with a La Pashe decoupage card. Lisa from Mess 2 Magic did this as a card a while ago and it gave me the idea, except I didn't want to give mine away LOL! I then added some K & Co embellishments and all mounted on Anna Griffin paper. The sentiment is from some Cosmo Cricket - Material girl paper which I used again below.
This shows the first Stampin up class I went to by Victoria, and the centre photo is when I crafted at her house in the summer with all her lovely stash!
Part of what I like to scrapbook is a record of events. So I thought my blog was worthy of a page. I printed out the first entry and then used a La Pashe Flippin Women stamp coloured with promarkers. I also added the rubber stamped Sheena Douglass poppes and the photos of poppies which I took last summer. Tried to be a bit arty and do a decreasing picture of the same shot.
Lastly these are the Hummingbird Bakery cupcakes I baked a while ago. I had the receipe and picture of the original on a notelet. Some of the images and the sentiment are from TLC creations and the baking shelf is from Just Inked.
This has brought home to me just how much paper I have! Once it is all gone (yeah in like 10 years) I will be sticking with the cdroms!
I found that Stampin' Royalty want to see scrapbook pages this week, so I am entering their challenge.

Thank you - CAS

My first card of 2011. A clean and simple thank you card. I've used black detail embossing powder on the Papermainia image and SU sentiment, then added a few gems. I've been busy scrapbooking today - so long since I have done any pages. Check back later to see what I have been up to.
I'm entering this card into three challenges that require Thank You cards. Phindy's Place Challenge, Allsorts challenge and Cupcake Craft Challenges.
