Coffee and Cream

This is my second post today, please scroll down for my PTI card. I didn't want to miss some of the challenges with this card so decided to post now!

Over on Simon Says Challenge this week they want you to use Coffee and Cream. I thought this new digi image by Leanne Ellis fitted the bill perfectly as it comes in B/W and in Sepia, which is the one I have printed and coloured for this card. I've used some SU striped card-stock and cut some corners from some paper from my scrap box. I don't have many shades of brown promarkers, so pleased with the effect I managed to achieve. At first I thought I was going to need to colour the foliage in green but I think I got away with keeping it to mono colours.

I'd like to enter this card into:-
Simon Says - coffee and cream
A Spoonful of Sugar-birthday wishes
Truly Scrumptious-swirls and pearls
Creative Inspirations-stripes
Stampin for the weekend - mono

BTW This digi is direct from Leanne's shop on Etsy. She has buy one get one free until 4 March.

An invitation

Over on the Passion for Papertrey challenge blog the challenge is to make an invitation. I've used the die cuts the girls gave us at the PTI make and take and over-stamped them with, of all things, a flowery pattern umbrella stamp from SU, it just had the right pattern at a small enough scale. I then used PTI paper from the Father knows Best collection, as the wall paper, and for the picture "in bloom" paper. I cut the lamp from some Papermania paper. Do you like the little fringed rug? - sshhh! it hides a secret - a dirty ink print from my chubby finger! One of the difficulties I have with CAS is the white space as usually some stray ink ends up on it - I have a wipe to hand but it doesn't seem to make any difference!

3 squares again!

Now as I was searching for a suitable sentiment for the card in the last post I came across the sentiment I have used for this card. Which I also decided to use the "3 squares" Challenge at Less is more on, so this is my second entry into that challenge. The shoe stamps are part of a 6 set from Hero Arts that I purchased just last week on ebay. Cardstock is Pink Passion from Stampin up.

I'd also like to enter it into:-
Charisma Cardz-black and white and one other colour

See below for my other entry into the less is more 3 squares challenge. the linky thing wouldn't let me use the same url twice so I had to split the post.

3 squares

The challenge over at Less is more this week is to use 3 squares. I  had in my mind that I would use these stamps (never seen ink and had them years!) as I had dug them out a while go and they were in my "pending use" pile! I was originally going for three squares down one side, but I found that the card-stock I had either wasn't big enough or left too much white space. So this is the configuration I ended up with, combined with a PTI sentiment. I used a big and juicy to stamp the images, using the rock and roll technique, and to daub the edges of the squares.
I'm also entering this card into:
Crafty Catz-friendship
Stamp something-something with flowers
Crazy for challenges-use flowers

Sweet Treats

A card I've made using my Forever Friends Black and gold limited edition cd rom. The corners are actually flat and not decoupaged - good effect though isn't it. I decoupaged the bear and box and the frame around the sentiment.
It is a miserable day here, rain, rain and rain. Luckily I managed to do some cutting back(for that read mass destruction) in the garden yesterday but I went a bit mad and it won't all fit in the bin!
I'm entering this card into The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge who want to see "Sweet treats".

Something you don't see everyday...........

Something you don't see everyday........... a fairy having a bath in a teacup! This is a stamp from Sweet Pea that I have had for a while and it is just seeing ink for the first time. The sentiment was a freebie from Paulette at Create with TLC. The backgound papers are K&Co - I remember when I first got these papers I loved them so much, I even used them to decorate the small Ikea drawer set in my craft room. My tastes are changing though, and so this is a lesson to use things and not hang onto them forever! I decided to add a piece of ribbon that was in my blog candy from Lisa at Mess2Magic along the top, with my new found technique from Victoria's workshop.
I've been so tired this week, so sorry for not doing much blog hopping or commenting. I'm trying to use some of the time I was spending on the PC to exercise. Also, it is manic at work. I was supposed to be on a week's training course this week, postponed from September, now it is likely to be April followed by one week in May, June, July and September. There is work to be done in between the courses too, so quite how I am going to be able to plan any time off is a bit beyond me at the moment!
Oh yes-nearly forgot, I am entering this card into the following challenges:-
Flutterby Wednesday- anything as long as it has wings
Paperplay-Let's get sentimental
Crafty Creations-At the bottom of my garden lives......
Stamps R Us-for the girls

Spring, a workshop and an award

This is my entry for the Less is More challenge this week who want to see "spring" featured on the card. I decided to use some Sue Poole stamps and then embossed over the image after cutting around the edge. I've been thinking about this for a few days and this was not what I was going to do! I think maybe I should have stopped and not embossed it - the clue is in the challenge title isn't it LOL!
I was at a SU workshop with the lovely Victoria on Saturday. This is the box we made and the cake I got to put in it (YUM) .........
and one of the cards we made - this is the one I am proudest of as I have wanted to have a go at that ribbon effect for ages.
I've also been given this award by the very talented and amusing Lynne from Cards from Lynne's Loft. Do visit her blog, her cards are beautiful. I've already been given the award once before so I won't pass it on again.

Help for Katie

You may have seen in my sidebar the link to the  Help For Katie fundraisingwhich Jak Heath is organising. You donate £15 and in return you get loads of fab digis (far more than £15 worth), plus you are helping the Help for Katie benefit. You can read more about it and purchase the digis by clicking on the link in my sidebar or click here.
Jak currently has a thank you card competition running in which you must use the digis purchased to help Katie.
I have used the stamp set donated by Katie Teasdale. The backing paper and paper piecing is done using Mary Engelbreit papers, and they go with the sentiment of "thank you cherry much".

I'd also like to enter the card into these challenges:-
Crazy 4 challenges-a heart somewhere on your card (on the apron pockets)
Crafty creations-thank you card
Stamptacular Sunday - lovin from the oven

one layer challenge

This is a small card only 3.5 x 3.5 inches square. I've been inspired by Barbara Gray, which if you watch her on C&C you will instantly see. However, although the tree stamp is from Clarity Barbara's stamp range, I don't yet have a speedball brayer so I had to daub instead. I tried to use the brayer I have but it was no use! I used a small nestie for the moon and the sentiment is from a Paula Pascale set.
I've made this card for the Less is More challenge who want to see "one layer".

There is no beginning.......

I saw this card (below) on Amy's blog and it inspired me to get out of my comfort zone.
Mine isn't as "Zingy" as Amy's but it is pretty wild for me LOL! I used DCWV 12x12 card for the base and then used three My Minds eye patterns mounted on yellow glitter paper. I added a flower and put some glitter into the centre together with some glitter on the fronds under the flower. I though the striped paper looked a bit bare so I cut out a corner with my bug and then balanced it with another in the right hand corner too. the sentiment is one of a job of stamps lot I bought from ebay in 2006, and this is the first time it has seen ink. In fact when I came to ink it I realised it had NEVER seen ink from its previous owner either!!!!
I'd like to enter the card into Card patterns  - which is where the sketch for the card came from One stitch at a time challenge, "make it pretty" and Allsorts Challenge which wants "It's all about the sentiment".

Spring in the spotlight

Once I had a go at the spotlight technique with yesterdays card I couldn't stop! I've made this and another card using the same technique.
The little teddy in the background sits next to where I take my photos and I thought he fitted in today so he makes an appearance! My neighbour bought him back from the USA a few years ago as a joke, as I had recently suffered an bad attack in the garden by hornets. (I had to sit an exam the next day too!) When the pest man came to take away the nest I stood inside looking out the french window because I daren't venture outside, but my neighbours unbeknown to me where in my garden. As the man lifted the nest out, they pounced out and made buzzing noises through the window at which I nearly passed out LOL!
anyway, I'm entering it into the following challenges:-

MAWTT-Spring flowers inspiration photo
Phindys place- spring is on the way
Cupcake Inspiration-photo inspiration
Secret crafter Saturday challenge- a stamped flower (hope this counts as thee is more than one!)

In the spotlight and an award

The challenge on Just Us Girls this week is to use the spotlighting technique. I've been meaning to have a go at this for ages and so here's my entry. This stamp is sooo old but I love him, he hasn't been out to play for so long though!

I have been given this fabulous award by Fiona over on Lil Daffodil, but there are conditions attached. Shabby chic Daisy

I've made this card for the challenge over at The Sugar Bowl where I rather liked the look of the sketch and the theme photo.
I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. I've used Basic Grey "wisteria" DPs and the image is of course Daisy from sugar nellie - my fav stamp still! I've been brave and used a nestie to cut part of her rather than the whole stamped image, I don't usually do anything like that but it seems to have worked ok! You can see the glitter I've added in the small photo below. I also stamped her and the sentiment with Paris Dusk Memento ink rather than black. Added a small MS punched butterfly and a few adhesive pearls.

Love you

I've had this aperture card for 10+ years. It harks back to the days when I cross stitched cards, so the little square is actually an aperture. I decided this little PB fella fitted the aperture perfectly and so the card is used at last! This is the first time he has seen ink since I bought the set last summer. I coloured him with promarkers and then inked around the image.  I've used "love" from SU and then inked another SU stamp with says "thank you "but only inked the "you". Added a little heart stamp as I don't think OH would appreciate bling LOL.
I'm entering it into these challenges:-
Crafty calender-love
The Pink elephant-valentine
Papertake Weekly- have a heart
A spoon full of sugar-show some love
Passion for promarkers-let there be love
Polka doodles-with hearts

Go-to sentiment card

I had an idea in my head for a card for the new challenge blog Less is More who this week want to see Pink, Black and white. Then today I saw on the PTI blog a challenge for a Go-to sentiment card. Basically you take the same sentiment from different stamp sets and stamp them out. I've used PTI sets- on my couch, round and round and tea for two additions. I've used a strip of PTI raspberry fizz and from the script pattern punched some butterflies using my MS punch.
The two strips of paper and the butterflies are scraps from my box so feeling very pleased with myself ;o

When in doubt wear red

This card has been made using two free digi images that the lovely Paulette posted over on her blog Create with TLC   yesterday- she also has some fab digis in her store. I've used some Craftwork papers in red/black and white/black. The sentiment is cut out with a nestie label as is the mount behind it. Then I stamped a peacock feather and The Eiffel tower (from my minds eye) and embossed them in the background. Finally added some red diamond peel offs.
This card is for these challenges:-
ABC - N is for nestie
Crafts and me- red theme
By the Cute and Girly - red + any other colour
Craft your days away - photo inspiration

Follow your heart.........

I have had an idea in my head for ages now to put this Cardmadfairy digi with this SU sentiment. So with all the valentine/love challenges around I thought this the perfect time to try it out. For once this card turned out exactly the way I saw it in my head!
I've used SU cardstock and embossed it with a cuttlebug folder. The papers are LL-B. I've lightly inked with SU Rose red the edges of the digi and papers.
I hope you are enjoying your Saturday, it is very wet and windy here, great day to be indoors.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:-
Phindy's place - embossing
Papercutz-valentines day-no hearts
Stampin 4 the weekend-St Valentines day
Saturday Challenge-valentine
Allsorts-love love love
Creative Inspirations-valentines/love
Simon says-love is in the air

1950s digi

These digi images and paper border are from the MCS fab glam fifties cdrom. I've added some colour co-ordinated bling and an SU sentiment.I got all my chores done in the week so today is play day - hoorah! Expect more later.......
I'm entering this into Stamp Something challenge who want to see any digi image.

Fav PTI project from 2010

Papertrey are starting their 4th anniversary celebrations today. There is a random prize for someone who posts their fav project of 2010 - and it is a very fab prize! This is my fav PTI project from 2010, I stamped over papertrey papers with the blooms stamps - it was cased from this Dawn McVey design as that was the challenge I entered at the time.

I have really missed not being able to take part in WOYWW the past few weeks. I've just got home from work and I am here to post!
Fairly tidy desk by my standards LOL! Some new stamps around, some flowersoft which is my first foray into using this on the cards on the left side and some gilding flakes lurking at the back that I haven't had a go with yet.
If you want to play go to Julia's blog.

The more candles.....

I've used the sketch on cute Card Thursday challenge to make this card for my friends forthcoming 60th birthday. I decided against putting the age on the front but thought the sentiment said it all! I've used LL-B papers again (you know once something finds it way onto my desk I make it work for me LOL!). Some green silk ribbon, three pearl stones and the sentiment is from SU. The stamp is a PB one (with the music upside down, that is how the stamp is!, instead of using the whole image I cut it out with a nestie.
I would also like to enter it into Crazy 4 challenges who want to see vintage/shabby chic cards.
