LIM week 21-take 2

Seems like my earlier card today worked - we have sunshine - yippe! This is my second attempt at the sketch over on Less is More this week. Just some butterflies from Craftwork cards, dusted with ink and a ribbon - simples.

Sending you sunshine!

This card is to send everyone some sunshine, if it is anything like it is here today, you will need some. It so cold, resisted putting the heating on so far, but may need to give in.
I've used some SU cardstock and printed the image and backing paper from the Ooh La La cdrom shoes in bloom. I'd like to enter the card into the Ooh la la creations challenge for -summer flowers.
I had another image printed so thought I would delve in the scrap box and came up with this card. Which I actually prefer to the first one.
Both cards have had some diamond sparkles added, I find I am adding it to all my cards as it gives them a love shimmer in the light but not too over the top like glitter might be.
I need to go and buy some 9v batteries. My xyron runner arrived today and it takes two, and I haven't got any. Bit like Christmas when you were a kid and you couldn't play with any new toys because your parents had forgotten to get batteries!

Over on A Passion for Papertrey there is a challenge to use the following colour palette in the Wacccky challenge.
I didn't have plum pudding in the PTI cardstock so I substited a SU retired colour. I've actually taken the background of a very large stamp I have and only used the "couture" portion. I then took my NY 5th ave lady and only stamped the wording from around her, placing a stamped dress image over the background. I also paper pieced the flower on the dress. Used a MS punch to make the lattice work piece. Pretty pleased with how this turned out especially as I was unsure how to mix these colours when I first began the card.

Lemon and lime

This is not a colour combo I would normally go for. But I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and did it. The flowers are from MCS Perfect petals cd rom. The leaves and the sentiment are cut with my silhouette. I then added a dusting of diamond sparkles. All mounted onto a lemon pearlescent card. I am really loving the effect diamond sparkles gives, for so long I thought it was just like glitter but I can see why everyone loves it. Pity you can't really see it in this photo.
I'd like to enter this card into Allsorts challenge-lemon and lime and also Digital Tuesday challenge - flower power.

In stitches

I was inspired to make this card by a creation by blogging buddy Amy made here, and also by the need to use some scraps. Ok, so this didn't make a huge dent but it is a start!
The image is PB and I coloured it with a mixture of aqua and promarkers. I added the faux stitching with a black fine marker pen.
I'd like to enter this into Penny Black Saturday Challenge - stitch it up and the Crafts and me challenge who want to see any type of stitching.
It's been sooo hot today. I had to have a little nap this afternoon, I was so overcome by it all LOL! We just had a bit of a shower but not enough for it to cool.

Oriental fairy take 2

I enjoyed working with the oriental fairy, so I decided to print her again but this time in a larger size. This is my second entry into the Cardmadfairy digi days challenge as I am using one of their own images. The background paper and fans are from as before. One of the great things about the silhouette, is that I didn't have a nestie the right size to sit behind this image, so I measured her and cut one out! Edged with a black pen to help it stand out from the paper. The sentiment is from a kit I bought from QVC ages ago and they need using. So, I did another card. Not sure where I got this image from-sorry. Papers are from the same site and are free.

The challenge over on Creative Card Crew this week is Asian. I decided to print this image using red ink,  and then colour her with a red promarker and shades of grey for her hair. The two photo corners I found in my stash and thought they went well with the card. The tiny scrap of printed paper I have had for ages and this is the last of it! Even the OH picked this one up for a second look, I think she is quite dramatic, I got her from some manga site, but can't remember where.

LIM week 21-sketch

The Less is More challenge this week is a sketch. I had the three circle elements already printed from a Kirsty Wiseman cdrom, they were just waiting for the right project and I thought - this is it! The strip of pink card was on my desk as a cut off from a card I will be posting soon. I decided it would be fun to punch holes in the pink card and the three images show through. Added some diamond dust around the images instead of on them for a change and all was looking good. The border from the third image was punched out with a scallop punch and placed on top of the pink card. Then I noticed a small smudge -you would probably never have seen it, but I tried to get rid of it and piled the card. So what was a really CAS card then had some ribbon added, that looked odd so I balanced it with some ribbon at the top, except there wasn't enough to go the whole length of the card! Hopefully it still passes??

Oriental fairy

I just love this oriental fairy from Cardmadfairy. The paper with the fans is a free download from I've coloured the fairy with promarkers and then using the same main backing paper cut a flower and butterfly. The oval is cut from some oriental paper. I've added a wax seal from a batch I made earlier this year, it is proving quite useful to have them to hand when needed.
I'd like to enter this card into:-

Bunny Zoe crafts - fairies
I love promarkers-anything goes

Fav things

The challenge over on Stampin' for the weekend is "my favourite things". So of course I chose fashion, using yet another free download I found on UK scrappers. The dress is cut from some forever friends paper and the other items from black vinyl. the sentiments are stamped from CeeDees designs and a C&C block I got in Wilkos some time ago.
It is so miserable here - raining on and off and so dark!

Red white and blue

I won some images from Delicious Doodles and one that I chose was the New York skyline. I've actually cut the digi stamp out in black card on my silhouette and pleased with the result. The stamp is by Wild Rose and I coloured her with my new aqua markers. I'd like to enter this card into the Die Cut Dreams challenge which is for Red White and Blue.
After I had cut out the skyline I had the other half left and I thought it still looked like a pretty good skyline. So I made this stepper card. I bought the card and am disappointed as the step at the back is the same size as the one at the front, I thought normally they got higher as they went back. With this card I have managed to stamp an image which pops over the top of the step and can be seen. the ladies are from a Robert Adams Art Deco CDrom. I also put a sheet of adhesive glitter over the skyline and it is really effective.

Red Dress

I've made this card using a free file and my Silhouette from someone on UKscrappers. I cut out the elements in vinyl, apart from the body which is SU cardstock. I've added a sentiment from Create with TLC which I thought went with her dress. I've also cut a "flourish" from black vinyl which was one of the images that came with the Silhouette.  I'd like to enter this card into Moving along with the Times who want a card inspired by a song. This is inspired by "Red Dress" from the Sugababes.

Fleur de Pavot

I've made this card using the new set of poppy stamps from Inkylicious. I just love poppies (can't you tell by my blog background LOL!) and when I sat down to make a poppy card it was hard to chose which poppy stamp to use. A poppy stamp I have wanted for ages is finally back in stock, so I have also ordered another one! For this card I've used SU cardstock in always artichoke, real red and so saffron. The ribbon is A Griffin but I thought it toned well.
I'd like to enter this card into
Sir Stampalot-photo inspiration
The Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT challenge - use red
As I said it was hard to chose which stamp to use, so I made another card.
I've paper pieced the poppy head in real red and the leaves in the now retired gable green. Stamped directly onto a pale pearlescent green card.

No it isn't actually a bingo card LOL! The challenge on Simon Says Stamp Challenge this week is to use this bingo card to create your card.
I've gone with the bottom line to create this card using Cosmic Cricket material girl papers. I've added a chipboard mannequin which I covered with MS glitter.
I made a purchase the other week, but being away on the course last week has meant I haven't had a lot of time to play.  I bought one of these.......
I had a nightmare with it at first, having said that I did go straight to advance techniques! But I found a forum on UK scrappers that is a life saver, the ladies on there are wonderful and so helpful. So my first creations are

I used the SU medallion stamp to make this sheet
and then cut out the shapes with the cutter. Yes I know if I could cut straight and evenly I could have achieved this card without the cutter LOL! But not that intricate snowflake! The seals are ones I made earlier in the year with my wax gun and seal set. I also added diamond sparkles with a glue pen, they really catch the light IRL.

Photo inspiration

I've paper pieced Flirty Anya's dress and flower in her hair. This is the photo that inspired me to create this card for the challenge at All That Scraps.
It has been a beautiful day here but now it is pouring with rain. I have so many crafty ideas but not sure I will get to do them all over the next couple of days.

It's a man's world

OK don't shoot the messenger - It's a man's world is the title of the challenge on Bugaboo-catch the bug challenge blog this week. I have a few days off this week - yippee! So, after all my de-cluttering this weekend I took some of the more collectable items to the local Sue Ryder shop this morning together with a batch of cards I had made.  They were so delighted and what's more you get an email letting you know how much you donation has raised for them, which I have never heard of anyone else doing before. One of the shops I have taken things to in the past was very "off hand" with me and I thought I wouldn't bother again. So it was nice to have a better experience today.
So, I got back after calling into Ikea (mad I know, but had to be done, even though it is a Monday the carpark was heaving!!) and made the above card. I used an embossing folder with some retired SU cardstock and then added some embellishments. I chalked over the embossed wording to make it stand out and also thought it looked at bit like grafitti on a brick wall.
Then I liked the effect so much I had another go. Wow - two men's cards in one go LOL!

LIM week 20 - Monogram

Well I passed my exam last Friday. It was a really horrid experience, everyone on the course felt the same. Just one more to go now in September. Yesterday I was going to craft but instead got up and started to de-clutter, which led to clearing out the garage, and going twice to the tip! Too exhausted to craft after that but feel better for it. Stepped into the room I craft in this morning and started to tidy in there too! Eventually I have come up with this card for this week's Less is More Challenge which is a theme - monogram. I think all the other activity might have been distraction, as I had no clue this week what to do. I decided to use my own initial as inspiration and took it from there.
I've printed the "L" using a Font called Fiolex Girls from here. Then I stamped a mount around it and then using the rock and roll technique some butterflies, dragonflies and flowers. Mounted onto a piece of Forever Friends paper and onto the card. I haven't actually stuck it to the card as yet as I am not sure if I like it!

Baby blossoms

I've had another play with my newest SU stamp set "baby blossoms". I also managed to team it up with a background stamp from the "bloom" set, you can see it behind the frame. The paper is part of the SU range to match the stamps, added some seam binding and a sentiment from PTI. I really like this, can't wait to have another go at creating something else with this set. I've certainly had lots of inspiration from other people's blogs to come up with this card.

LIM week 19 - one layer

After I had spent time assembling my new Baby Blossoms stamps from SU I thought I would use them for this weeks one layer challenge on Less is More - which this week is for a frame. I had a go on some scrap to get the hang of the two step stamps and then decided, why not turn the frame to portrait rather than landscape. I'm rather pleased with the result. I added a sentiment which is from a poppy set of stamps I used for the next card. Now, I don't speak french and should have googled this first, I knew fleur was flower, but didn't realise this said "poppy" - oh well......
This was my original idea in my head actually got made second.
An Anna Griffin frame and sentiment with build a flower stamps from inkylicious.
Thanks for visiting. I apologise in advance that I won't be looking at many LIM entries this week as I have course work all week and another exam next Friday.

LIM Week 18 - Colour - Monochrome

I'd just taken delivery of some coredinations cardstock and my new SU embossing folder. Combine the two, add sandpaper and this is the result! Mounted on SU cardstock with a butterfly punched from the same card, added some seam binding and a little pre-printed sentiment. Kept it simple to fit in with the CAS style at the Less is More challenge blog.
I'd also like to enter it into the Papertake Weekly Challenge - anything goes.

Just to say

I've been trying out my new cosmic shimmer drawing paints on this butterfly. They are so easy to use, I easily kept within the outlines of this free image from Create with TLC. It originally had a background of four squares, but I decided to cut those away. The background card is a piece of SU whisper white card put through the bug embossing folder. To keep it simple I made my own tag and used Paula Pascale stamps on it.
I'd like to enter it into:-
Allsorts Challenge - all white with a coloured image
Flutterby Wednesday-open but must have wings
Crafty calendar - wings

Sunday, 5 June 2011

This is a card made from the Debbi Moore CDrom Diamonds and Lace. The backing paper is one continuous piece which I turned on it's side. It has the effect of gold embossing around the design so I added a piece of mirri card and embossed it using a paisley folder. I added three different types Diamond glitter to the dress, the sky and around the sentiment.
I'd like to enter the card into these challenges:-
Cute card Thursday - embellish it
Stamp something - digi image
Delicious Doodles-texture
One stop craft challenge-texture

Yesterday I went to Victoria's SU workshop and had a great time making these items.
I just love the little box and can see me making a variation on this.

Just a quick and simple card from me today. Although I have managed to stave off coming down with anything, we are incredibly busy at work and I am doing long days 7.30 to 5pm. So not up to thinking about much when I get home. This is a download from Crafts U Print which I have had for ages. I also got a delivery of Diamond dust today - so many of you mention you use it I thought I would get some. I just highlighted the bow with it.
I'd like to enter it into the Creative Card Crew Challenge- For a Diva.
