Hot colours

I haven't followed a sketch for ages, so I decided to use the one over at Cute Card Thursday. I've used the free Kate Knight paper stack and mounted them onto some PTI paper then coloured the image with promarkers. The flowers were from blog candy I won from Lisa Jane at My Makes "n" Me. Now I have spent the day making cards for challenges which no longer exist! This was also for Belles and Whistles, but it no longer fits LOL! Cute Card Thursday challenge ends in a couple of hours, so I am entering it now before I lose that one as well.
I'd like to enter the card into these challenges also:-
Crafty Calendar - Hot colours
Passion for Promarkers - anything goes
It may have been two posts in one day from me but back to work tomorrow.

Glitter it

I've used Crafters Companion Glitter spray by masking the rest of the image and leaving only the dress to ensure it REALLY glitters LOL! Pleased with the result, which you can see better in the second photo. I also cut a nestie label out of acetate to lift her slightly from the background embossing. I've brayered the background and used the resist technique for the sentiment, which I then added some diamond dust to.
I'd like to enter the card into these challenges:-
Charisma Cardz - glitter it
Poka Doodles - spots and dots
Fab 'n' Funky - go mad with embossing

Well here are some pics of my kitchen, bearing in mind the tiling is yet to be done........

This area behind the door had no units previously - so extra storage!

I've wanted taps like this for ages, so much easier when you have been cooking to use them and no mess on the tap!

LIM - week 30 - recipe

I've finally managed to get together my entry for this weeks Less is More Challenge. I've chosen to combine these past three challenges:-
Week 9 - a touch of red
Week 15 - embossing
Week 19 - in the frame
I embossed the background and tried to use a technique I saw where you put a piece of thick card in the centre to prevent that being embossed. Unfortunately it did emboss it but did leave a recess, so I popped the picture in there anyway.
I've used a new stamp that fellow Limette Jenny from Crafting in the Country used here. Soon as I saw it I ordered it!  I used to have a Westie - he passed away at the ripe old age of 15.5 years, and here he is demonstrating one of the above poses!

I'd like to thank Sara from for this wonderful blog candy to celebrate her new blog. Do pop over and have a look, she has the most wonderful makes.
I was going to post about my kitchen, but I think this post is long enough! I'll post some pics, suffice to say it is all done but the tiling - got let down over the tiles and they won't be here until late September.

LIM week 29-things that move

I've used the resist technique for this weeks Less Is More Challenge which is for "Things that move". I used the SU "Hope" stamp set. First of all I clear embossed the writing and scrolls then brayed over with a mask from a large nest label. Then I stamped the butterfly with Spice big and juicy and heat embossed with clear powder again.
I'd also like to enter it into these challenges:-
Ooh La La challenge - no DP

Sir Stampalot workshop with Brenda

What a fantastic time I had on Saturday with the Blog girls at Sir Stampalot - and even some ladies who weren't bloggers and I think wondered what we were on about half the time LOL! We do seem to develop and speak a "blog language".  These are the Five cards! I made, Brenda worked us hard. I really loved all the different techniques we tried and the results I achieved. I was even ready to buy a new poppy stamp not realising that the two cards here used the the same stamp - which I already have. I did however manage to find some other stamps, one of which I have wanted for ages and Janice had in stock in the warehouse.
I've been thinking about my Less is more card and hope to try and have a go later this evening, so I may be back!
PS - sorry about the camera glare on the first one - there is only one moon on the card LOL!

Martini anyone?

I just love this Nikki stamp - what better way to relax than with a martini! Well that is what I have decided she is drinking LOL. I have liked this image for ages and when Kerry had an offer on Ladybug stamps I treated myself to this and another one. The sentiment is from a PTI samp set.
She is actually a bit glittery - maybe you can see in the photo below? Pure accident, she was sitting by when I sprayed the glitter for the Xmas card in a previous post LOL!

snowy postbox

I've made this card using a digi image I won from Delicious Doodles. I coloured only the postbox with promarkers and then added some diamond dust to the top and the roof of the house. I also added a tiny amount of colour to the wreath on the door. This card will be for someone at work who is interested in postboxes and phoneboxes - so I added airmail bakers twine for the postal connection.I embossed the background paper and then sprayed with Crafter companions spray and glitter, not shown up too well in the photo but a lovely effect.
I'm having a new kitchen fitted at the moment. yesterday I was very good and had a meal I had previously frozen but tonight I had to go out and get more paint, so I stopped for fish and chips on the way home!
I'd like to enter this card into the Ooh la la challenge - Oh Christmas.

In memory of Mollybell

I made this card for my friend who has just lost her lovely cocker Mollybell. As you can see from the picture below Molly was all black, but I had to tone it down on the card so that you could see the detailing. The picture was taken when I stayed with my friend in Indiana in 2006 and we took Molly out with us and she got a dog biscuit at the drive through Bank!
I used a paper from the free Kate Knight paper pack and a piece of a freebie paper from a magazine which I thought brought out the orangey tones in the K Knight paper.
I'd like to enter the card into these challenges:-
Stamp something - dog days of summer
CES-mix and match (two papers from different Designers)

If you can spare a card, please see my post below for a card drive to help a special young man.

Card drive for Ryan-please help

I've made this card using the Forever Friends Retro cdrom. It is for Ryan who has recently suffered from a terrible accident. Here is what Meredith has to say on her blog
My brother's dear friend and former roommate, Ryan, was involved in an accident on a Saturday afternoon in April 2011 in New Orleans, while riding his bike to meet up with friends.  The facts of the accident remain unclear but Ryan did sustain a brain injury.  As a side note - Ryan moved from CA to NOLA after Katrina to live there and help/work with the relief efforts to help the citizens of NOLA rebuild.  Ya...he's an amazing young man.
If you would like to help - please read here how to send a card. In return Meredith has kindly offered some free digis from sponsors.

LIM week 28-one layer (ink)

This week the challenge on Less is More is to use ink - on a one layer card. Yesterday I went on a workshop with Barbara Gray from Clarity Stamps and learnt to brayer - so what better opportunity than this challenge to try out what I learnt. I decided to use a mask cut with a nestie to do the brayering through, using a big and juicy ink pad. the sentiment is from some docrafts stamps and says "Fishing - if it was easy it would be called catching!"
Here is what I made at Barbara's workshop yesterday. I had a fab time, but it was tiring, poor Barbara, it was her second day and today she is at a show in Stevenage, I don't know how she does it. she is such a lovely lady and she had two excellent tutors with her.
As you can see this was my attempt yesterday at the reflection technique, with and without clouds.

This was my first piece, and the one I like best, we used a resist technique on the sliver birch.

After lunch we did these Christmas cards. Using the reflection again. Then using resist again for the snow in the sky on the last one. I was really tired by this point, so not my best work! I also added the glitz to the roof afterwards, not sure what Barbara would think!

This card combines a few challenges. Daring Cardmakers want to see Poppies and Gladioli, I don't have any of the latter, but luckily you can use either if you want. As you know I have lots of poppy stamps! I decided to use the second of the Hero Arts stamps in a set I bought recently. I stamped in SU rose red and then used a water brush to drag the colour into the image.

LIM week 27 - colour

The challenge on Less is More this week is "colour" specifically the colours of the flag of your country. Being in England I have the choice of just red and white for St George or the full union jack of red white and blue. To begin with I was going to do a Poppy card, red and white - that will follow! But I also have these new stamps from Waltzing mouse and some unused airmail bakers twine, just crying out for the union jack colours then!
A thank you card for everyone who visits my blog and leaves a comment, I do love reading them.

oh to be 18!

Just a quick post from me as I am on a mission to get cleaning done today and loads of other things before hopefully fitting in some crafting LOL!
This is a card made from Papernation decoupage sheets and a couple of peel offs added.
I'd like to enter the card into the cupcake crafts challenge which is "how old?".

In the garden

I've made this card for my neighbour's birthday which is on Monday. He is always in the garden mowing his lawn - so I thought this image from the Digi stamp boutique would be perfect for him. They have 20% off digi images at the moment too. I was struggling what to do with the image after I had cut it out using the silhouette. When I saw the cards for men challenge - clean and simple! So I took a K&Co green card blank, added some embossed card using swiss dots and green ink, a sentiment from Paula Pascal and that was it. Because the silhouette cut the musical notes out so tiny that I could not pick them up, I printed them again and used a circle punch to mount them onto the card. I actually think it makes it stand out more that way.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:-
digistamp boutique - any of their digi images
cards for men challenge - clean and simple
Kaboodle Doodles challenge-in the garden
Stampin for the weekend challenge - spots and dots

Best foot forward

I've been brave and printed the digi stamp from Digisparkle (no longer around) and sentiment by me, straight onto the card. Really pleased it turned out ok. I then coloured the images with promarkers and added little touches of sparkle.
I'd like to enter this card into the Creative Card Crew challenge - best foot forward and Crafts and Me challenge which is anything goes.
Another hot one here today, we did have a tiny amount of rain earlier, looks like we might be brewing for a storm now.

Tuesday, 2 August 2011

I've used an image and sentiment from Create with TLC for this card. The DP is from a D Moore cdrom Diamonds and Lace. The little frame is part of a collection I have, that I got as part of a kit and don't know what to do with - one down now and a few to go LOL! I added MS glitter and some bling.I also added some diamond sparkle to the powder puff and jar on the table.
I'd like to enter her into:-
It has been so hot here today - fine if you are out but when you are running a workshop and you have lots of people in one room, not so good!

Birthday blues

I've created this card using MCS Festive Deco Folllies cdrom - she was originally wearing a gold dress but I changed it and the poppy elements are a freebie for club members of MCS - they were originally red but changed to match her dress. I have actually cut out the three main poppies on the tag and layered them up but it doesn't show to well in the photo. I punched the bottom edge of the card and put a strip of the backing paper inside.
I'd like to enter this challenge into Crafty Emma's challenge- feeling the blues.
