Don't get in a flap........

What day is it? Today feels like Saturday, but it will be a shock when I have to go to work later in the week LOL!
This is a card I made for a colleague at work. He has cerebral palsy and is not able to make his own drinks so I and others make them for him, he can be quite demanding if we forget! That said he is such an inspiration to all of us how he just gets on with everything.
So that is why I chose the mug template for his card. The stamp is from Ladybug crafts and the sentiment is computer generated.
I'd like to enter this card into Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT challenge - anything goes and Simon Says Stamp - anything goes.
Oh yes, I remember now, it's New Year's Eve- wishing you all a happy and healthy 2013.

Think of a number

This is my last week as December's GDT on CD Sunday challenge. Thanks so much for the ladies inviting me to GDT - I have really enjoyed it. This week the challenge has been set by Carol and it is "Think of a number".
I created this card using a character from the Country Companions Celebrations double disc cdrom. The background is a shamrock image I downloaded from the internet and I tiled it using MCS software. I then enlarged it to make the large one for the mouse to stand against. You might guess the recipient is Irish, so that is why I used the phrase "you're grand".
Here is the bunting I have made to go with the card to decorate his desk.

It's as plain as black and white

The challenge over on Allsorts challenge blog is "It's as plain as black and white". I was prompted to get out my Gorjuss girl stamps as I had a notebook and diary for Christmas featuring them. I was going to use the packaging on the card, but then it occurred to me that this image would look good in mono, so that idea will have to wait! I coloured her with promarkers and then cut her out using a resplendent rectangle from Spellbinders. I stamped directly onto the card using a combination of Debbi Moore and Lavinia stamps. The sentiment is from Gourmet rubber stamps.
Thanks for looking, hoping to get some crafty time this weekend as it is pouring with rain and not fit to go anywhere.

Christmas old and new

Thought I would share a couple of cards I didn't get to blog before Christmas.

Christmas old and new........Both cards depict old really but I realised I had bought the first image and then the second image is more or less the same but with a more modern twist to it.

I'd like to enter these cards into Kaboodle Doodles challenge-Christmas, holidays or New Year
and Anything goes challenge - traditional Christmas colours.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone and if I haven't made it to your blog to say so I'm sorry.

My card today is not very Christmassy but it is my entry into Vintage Stamping challenge where the challenge is "Pocket full of posies".
I used a stamped chrysanthemum image from tonic drawn by the lovely Ruth Hamilton and coloured it with promarkers. The DP is from SU and is lightly inked with bundled sage from TH.

LIM week 99 - Drinks

The challenge on Less is More this week is a recipe - drinks. I decided to use one of my fav stamp sets by PTI. I stamped the teapot onto some October Afternoon paper and then cut it out, stamping a "tea time" sentiment from another PTI set onto the pot. The "shelf" is also October Afternoon paper. The sentiment is one I think we should all observe at this time of year!
Thanks for looking at this busy time, hope you have a good one and that you are not affected by the misery of the trains being delayed and cancelled.

All about birthdays

I created this card using Debbi Moore's Paper Delights "A touch of regency" cdrom. This is my GDT card for the CD Sunday challenge this week where the theme is chosen by Christine is "All about birthdays". I used one of my nestie leaves to frame the image and then cut around the sentiment by hand.
I do hope you can join us this week. Just remember you must use something that is from a CDrom.

Winter Scene

So I got asked if I could make some last minute Christmas cards! No brief just what I wanted to do!!
Here's a winter scene I created using Sheena Douglass, Clarity and Paula Pascale stamps. I'd like to enter this into the challenge at Craft a Scene this month and also in Simon Says Stamp - Anything Christmassy.

After I did this one I decided to use one of the new clarity masks - this is the Paris skyline.
I've been doing a lot of baking. Here is a cake new to me that I baked  Jam Donought Muffins. They have jam hidden inside and melted butter is brushed on top with caster sugar sprinkled over, they taste like donoughts but without the frying etc.

Mid month reminder for Penny Black & More challenge

This is my DT card to remind you of our challenge over on Penny Black & More which this month is "it's your choice". I've used 30-1-3........wishes from Penny Black. I thought it had been a while since you had seen a poppy from me LOL!
I do hope you can join us as there as always some fab prizes to be won.

Teddy Bears at CD Sunday

Here I am with another December GDT card for CD Sunday this week. The theme this week is Teddy Bear's which is Wendy P's choice. I decided to make an easel card using elements from a Jem's Designs CDrom called Little Shop Window decoupage, although I chose not to decoupage up in layers in this case. I then put some K&Co emblishments on the card and used a Forever Friends paper for the background.

I do hop you can join us this week, I am really enjoying visiting all the cards. The only thing is I keep discovering new cdroms I need!

My favourite

The challenge on Simon Says Stamp this week is "what's your favourite". Well at the moment it is this A4 embossing folder which has two patterns. I chose the more oriental looking one to complement the images. Then I lightly inked over it.
We had our Christmas lunch today and we went for a Chinese meal - really great food and a good time was had by all. Feel so full though even now!

LIM week 97 - in a row - one layer

The challenge on Less is More this week is "in a row" and it is also one layer week. I've been in London for the weekend so didn't think I would get time to do a card, but I remembered I had this cocktail stamp that Lisa Jane gave to me in the summer with some others and decided it fitted the challenge. I added a little line of sparkle dust and then put some in the glasses, with a hint of green glitter on the leaves.
I think Audrey would is she is in Madame Tussauds!
We went to see Thriller on Saturday, so I had to take this picture in Madame Tussauds too.
I was prompted to go to Madame Tussauds after a fellow blogger went and shared their photos, I hadn't been since I was a kid. They even have the Olympic athletes........
Well it is the big "50" for me tomorrow! As I sat in what used to be the Planetarium and is now a 4d experience I couldn't quite believe where all the years have gone!

Frosty Days at CD Sunday challenge

Here is my second GDT for the CD Sunday challenge. This week our challenge is Frosty Days set by Beryl.
I've used My Craft Studio CDRom Christmas with My Craft Studio. If I am honest I bought the cd rom for this image alone! I do love fashion. I printed a second hat box and decoupaged it over the image and then using various glitters and a glue pen went to town on making the image and snow and frost come to life. I used some glitter paper either side of the images. I added some TH glitter twine for more sparkle.
Thanks for looking and if you enter the challenge I will be over to see what you create - can't wait.

Wednesday, 5 December 2012

I've used Penny Black wreath made of snowflakes for my entry into Simon Says Stamp challenge. I've used pale blue embossing powder and then for the wreath around the sentiment used some bling. The sentiment is from Paula Pascale.

I went to the hospital today and the good news is that there are some eye exercises I can do to help my balance, and the way I have been feeling is normal! Now I know that it doesn't seem quite as scary although this week I thought I had the Kate Middleton effect feeling very sick in the mornings, luckily I know it isn't from the same cause LOL!

Butterflies and buttons

I was having a rummage in the crafty bits and found all these pre cut buttons, so I decided I could make use of them with this embossing folder. I also found this peel off that I had at some point put onto vellum and then for good measure I added the two snippets of paper top and bottom so that means it can go into Pixies's Crafty Snippets week 49. I'd also like to enter it into Papertake Weekly challenge which this week is "anything goes".

Penny Black & More monthly challenge

Hello again! As it is the first Sunday in the month I am here this time with my DT card from Penny Black & More challenge. This month the challenge is "your choice". So I have decided to use my newest stamps PB 40-118 New York and for the sentiment 30-103 ...wishes.
I used pan pastels to create the background, then stamped the image, colouring it with aqua markers.

As usual we have lots of fab prizes over at the blog, so do come and join in, we would love to see you. Just remember no digis, and a stamped image must be the focal point of your card, but you can use any make of stamp.

I'd also like to enter this card into Simon Says Stamp challenge - anything goes.

CD Sunday challenge - Oh Christmas Tree and exciting news.........

Morning everyone. I am so excited to have been asked to be a GDT for the month of December for the challenge blog CD Sunday. I do love this challenge blog as it gives me a chance to get out my CDroms and remember what is one them, plus I actually use at least one of them once a week!

The challenge this week is set by Caz and is "Oh Christmas Tree". This is a sponsored challenge from THE ART OF CRAFT and a voucher will be given to the winner who is chosen by Random Organiser.

I made my card using a cd that was free with Cardmaking and Papercraft a few issues ago. I used the "Ditsy Christmas" design by printing the backing paper and digi trees which I then coloured in with promarkers. I cut a resplendent rectangle with mirri card and one on white card for the gourmet rubber stamp greeting the added a few peel offs. I used a pre made stepper card from Hunkydory for the base.

I do hope you can join in, just remember to use something from a CD rom for your work to be eligible. I look forward to visiting you.

LIM week 96 - colour - red and green

The challenge on Less is More this week is a colour one of red and green. I am sure most people especially at this time of year will do a Christmas card, but the colours red and green say to me "poppies". I know I really have gone to town with poppies over recent weeks, but I bought this Clarity poppy stamp and it never saw light of day until now, so I wanted to use it before I forgot about it again. I have paired it with an Inkylicious stamp from a poppy set they do. I stamped by colouring the stem with a promarker in "grass", then I used Brilliance "pearlesence poppy" stamp pad for the poppy itself. I then mixed some Forever red mica powder and green mica powder and painted the image.

Also - it's so cold brrrr........

Girly inspired

I used MCS Fab Glam fifties cd rom to make this card. The main dress is one of the digis which I printed and coloured in with promarkers.
I'd  like to enter this card into I love Promarkers challenge - anything goes and Digital Tuesday challenge #188 - girly.

Hello to my new followers - thanks for joining me.

I survived the MRI scan but only just! I do not get claustrophobic, but when they put me in, I just freaked a little inside, I could heart my heart pounding in my ears. I just squeezed my eyes tightly and tried to think of other things.

Inspired by nature

Look familiar? Yes poppies again from me and for the second day butterflies. You know how it is when you just get stuck on a theme!
The challenge on CD Sunday this week is "inspired by nature". So I have used MCS cd rom Quintessential Country Garden. First I chose a background paper from the cdrom and then imposed the poppies, flourishes, tiny butterflies and wording onto it using MCS software. I just love calligraphy, so was attracted to the "butterflies" wording. The sentiment I did myself using an oriental font. I then cut a few butterflies with spellbinder dies, added some sparkle to their wings and tiny bits of bling, added some sparkle to the letter "B" too. I inked the base card around the edges and applied some to the edge of the paper and the poppies to make them stand out more.
I'm off out soon. Not for a night on the town but for an MRI scan, at can you believe it 8.40pm! (if you work in a hospital you probably can!). I don't feel like I can settle to anything - just hope I don't fall asleep in the scanner!

B for butterfly

I decided to break open a whole paperpad  after having looked at it for well over a year! It's the Mariposa stack from DCWV. Most of the papers and elements on this card are from the stack apart from the sewing elements which I had left over from cutting out shapes for a card a while ago. the large butterfly in the top right corner is actually an acetate sticker, but the colours were just right for this card.
I'd like to enter this card into the ABC challenge - B is for butterfly.

Be sure to visit Studio 12 at Polkadoodles - Nikki is giving away a fabulous £50 of Polkadoodles goodies to some lucky person this month. All you have to do is follow the blog, mention it on your blog and leave a comment on the post here.

Red, green, purple and blue

Last month I got a "highly desirable" for this card over at Vintage Stamping challenge. So I am entering again.  Now while I resisted getting out a fashion stamp yesterday, today is as they say "another story". I've used a stamp from Crafty Individuals and cut it into two, leaving the text image to go separately on the card. I've coloured the image using aqua markers and edged all the DCWV papers with red and lavender inks. I cut all the buttons and other elements from scraps of  DCWV papers that I had. I am also entering it into the snippets challenge over at Pixies crafty Workshop week 48.

LIM Week 95 Recipe Glamour and Glitz

The challenge on Less is More this week is glamour and glitz. My first reaction was to reach for one of my many fashion stamps, but I decided instead to christen a new Clarity stamp - the moon, stamped with London fog memento ink and embossed with stardust embossing powder. I used an Anna Griffin sentiment and the main image is from Lavina. Stamped and embossed with clear powder and diamond dazzles"butterfly trails" liberally applied all over - with autumn fire glitter on the Chinese lantern.
I'd also like to enter this card into these challenges:-
Allsorts - bring on the bling
Delicious doodles - something that flies
Creative card crew - anything goes
Cute Card Thursday - girls only

Sorry for my lack of commenting and posting this week. I was away with work.

Layer it up

This is a card made using elements from the Joanna Sheen cd rom Viva La Divas. It is not easy to see from the photo but I have decoupaged the chair and the lady sitting on the chair - two layers, and then the presents on the floor with the blue parcel.
I'd like to enter this card into the challenge on CD Sunday - layer it up.

Any die will do - mid month inspiration

Morning everyone, we have had a bit of a frost here overnight but it looks a bright day so far.
Our challenge at Penny Black & More this month is for "Any die will do" and we are providing a little mid month inspiration for you. This is my card made using PB "Hello Gorgeous" stamp set, I stamped one of the images and them paper pieced her outfit and bag. I didn't have to paper piece the shoes as they come like that! still fiddly to cut around. I mounted them up onto buttons the button dies that come with the TH mannequin die I've used. I made the skirt from strips of washi tape - my first real go at using this and I can now understand why everyone raves about it, so easy to use. I topped the mannequin with the necklace stamp from the "hello gorgeous" set too.
Thanks for looking and I do hope you can join in the challenge as there are as always some fab prizes to be won. Even if you have entered you can do so again, just remember you can use any stamp as long as it is the focal point, but no digis allowed. We also have our monthly chance to join as GD for a month.

I'd also like to enter this card into the challenge at Paperplay, who want to see paper piecing.

LIM week 94 - hardware

The challenge on Less is More this week is "hardware". I have got quite a few metal charms and I had those out as I never remember to use them, but in the end these snowflake brads won. I also remembered these tiles that I bought many years ago and haven't used hardly any of them.
For the first card I used the CC embossing border for the snowflakes and added a Paula Pascale sentiment.

This was actually my first card but it didn't turn out quite how I hoped. I used two different snowflakes from a Creative Inspirations stamp set called snowflakes and music. I stamped the first directly onto the card. Then stamped the second one using some meltdust, cut around and secured with the brad.

You might notice I have changed my blog. The header is of some poppies in my garden which I took a few years ago.

I went to hospital for balance tests on Tuesday, you can read about the experience in an earlier post. Unfortunately I am not feeling at all well today. I tried to go out earlier on foot and had to come back as the whole experience was not a good one. I do hope I am not back to square one again with my balance.

Punches and dies with poppies.....

As you can see I have gone to town with new dies, old dies and poppies! This time the image is from A Day for Daisies and the poem is a Clarity Stamp. My new die lite poppies and the first time I have used my memory box fence die, it is on there twice but you can only really pick up the one on the left from the photo. All mounted onto an embossed panel using the new A4 mbossibilities.
This is my second entry for the Papertake weekly challenge - where they want flower power!

Feeling under the weather?

I've given you a little break from the Poppies, but only until later today - I have quite a stunning creation to share with you, if I do say so myself!
This card was inspired by the challenge on CD Sunday - rainy days. I've used Funky Divas - Kerry Jo CD rom from Debbi Moore. I decided to make it into a get well card but added a tiny amount of stardust stickles onto the raindrops and puddles to give it a bit of a lift. I punched the umbrellas out and used resplendent rectangles dies.
I'd like to enter this into Crafty Cardmakers - now I have read the challenge again - which is for More than one punch and/or die cut.
I'd also like to make this my second entry into Craft room challenge -punches and die cuts

To die for

I'm still working my way through the poppy images I stamped and printed last week. This card combines poppy images from a MCS cd rom Quintessential Country Garden and a Acrylic poppy stamp heat embossed with black sparkle wow powder. I then added some extra red lines to the stamped poppies with a promarker. I cut the image out using part of a Grand Nestie labels 23.  I've used Spellbinder Asian accents along the edge, in the corners and for the sentiment label.

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges:-

Crafty cardmakers -more than one punch and /or die cut
Craft room challenge - punches and die cuts
Addicted to stamps and more - red and white
Papertake Weekly -flower power

I went to the hospital on Tuesday for some balance tests. Although they warned me I would need someone with me I was not prepared for the experience. It started off ok, being strapped into a chair with some heavy goggles - felt a bit like Joe 90 - if you remember him. I had to follow lights with my eyes and not move my head. But then they tipped me back and put water through one ear at a time to bring on dizziness. I felt so awful, and all the time I had to shout out names working my way through the alphabet which was apparently to prevent my brain from shutting down! A normal response is that the eye would move 10 times a second but mine moved 119/120 times a second. I felt so sick afterwards and had to take yesterday off work too. All this has now shown that my eye is jerking slightly and I can be given exercises to correct it - so I am not imagining it - good!  and roll on the next appointment for the exercises. I was too ill to try any on Tuesday.

Poppies and plaid

There will be poppy cards for a few more days yet! This time I used the memory box die and yes yet again the Gina K pad of papers. I stamped this jar onto some of her plaid paper from the collection. I added the word "poppies" to the tag in my own handwriting - none of the other sentiments fitted, but instead I stamped them down the edge of the card. I'm really pleased with how this one turned out, such a cheery card.
I'd like to enter it into Kaboodle Doodles challenge - use plaid and One Stop Craft Challenge - anything goes.
Just to say that the giant cupcake I showed yesterday was greeted by lots of oohs and aahs and when are we cutting it, when I arrived with it at work this morning. Demolished in a matter of minutes!

Poppies and remembrance

Of course i have been making lots of cards with Poppies as I love them so much and have so many images. However, I have chosen to use the Crafty Indviduals stamp again for this card, this time I embossed using black detail powder onto red card. I added a PTI sentiment into the picture. The background paper is by Gina K. I cut the card base and layers using one of the Grand nestabilities, leaving the edges attached to make the card base.
I'd like to enter this card into these challenges:-
Delicious Doodles - remembrance
That Craft Place - red for remembrance
Aud Sentiments - thanks

This is my first go at a giant cupcake. If you realise that this is a dinner plate it is placed on, then you will get the idea of the scale. Someone asked me to make one for them, and I wanted a practice run so this will be going to work tomorrow to be devoured!

LIM week 93 - houses (one layer)

The challenge on Less is More this week is "houses" with a one layer card. To begin with I could only think of one house stamp I have. Which is a bit odd as I collect miniature houses and surely this would have transferred into stamps? Well, yes, when I started to go through the edges of my stash, houses were coming out all over the place! To begin with I chose to use a memory box die and made this first card, lightly brushed with TH inks and a PTI sentiment added.
Then I found this stamp which of course I should have remembered as the cross stitch picture of it hangs in my living room - see below! As it is a large stamp I just inked it up from a big and juicy blue pallet and then with a water brush pulled a little of the colour from the ink.

Then I had one last go using a Clarity stamp of houses. I added a PTI sentiment and am also entering this into the Craft a Scene challenge - troubled skies.

Friday, 9 November 2012

I've been experimenting further with the cosmic shimmer sprays and some basic masking. The first one is a little more of a CAS style and the second one I went in for more of the spraying! I've used a SU stamp set for these cards.
I'd like to enter these into the Papertake Weekly challenge - anything goes and the Crafty Catz challenge - anything goes.
Not getting too much crafting done at the moment as the colder weather makes me want to just curl up on the settee!

Red's for remembrance

I've used a few new things on this card. A poppies mask for the backgroud, Gina K poppies print papers and a stamp from Crafty indviduals, which I have had a while but it hasn't seen ink.
The "Birthday" is from a larger sentiment stamp and I masked it to just get the greeting and the "wishes" is from a warm wishes stamp from Paula Pascale and again I masked the "warm" part so it didn't show.
I'd like to enter this card into these challenges-
Creative Inspirations - Red's for Rembrance
Crafts and Me - reds
Crafty Sentiments - poppies
