LIM week 74 - inspiration challenge

The challenge on Less is More this week is to take the LIM blog header as inspiration.

"Less is More"
Chrissie and Mandi said inspiration not blatant plagiarism - I know! Blame it on the viral bug still hanging around and no other ideas coming into my head. I took the blog header in MCS graphics programme and tinkered with it, printed it out and cut around with a nestie. I then added a few hints of diamond dazzle to the flowers. Mounted onto Kraft card and a little striped ribbon to finish off.

Sporty and patriotic

Sorry I haven't been around commenting the last few days but I have been hit by a viral bug, really knocked me out. I did manage to get out today and see the olypmic torch pass very close to where I live. I had a perfect view as you can see then a policeman decided to stand right in front of me! Luckily a chap next to me asked if he could "move along" so to speak!
and a nice link to my card! Simon Says stamp challenge want to see sporty and or patriotic cards, now mine is patriotic just not for USA (they didn't specify the country LOL!). I've used digis from Pink Petticoat, Digi my World and the Digistamp boutique. I cut circles for the olypmpic rings with nesties and then stamped one of the London Penny Black images but masked off the usual "underground" wording and substituted it for part of the "I love London" stamp in the set.
I'd also like to enter it into the Penny Black Saturday challenge - banners, bunting or flags.

Under the sea

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is to use this sketch.
I've used Debbi Moore's "under the sea" cd rom which I just got with the latest magazine. I added glossy accents to the pearls and a little diamond dazzle to the dolphin.

Retro Diva

When I saw the challenge at I Love ProMarkers was 1950s I knew I would be playing! I got my MCS Fabulous 50s cdrom out and printed the background, sentiment and superimposed a tag onto the tv screeen, by scaling down and recolouring to match my digi image, which I printed out and coloured with ProMarkers. I added a little glitter, after all she is a Diva!
I'd also like to enter it into the challenge at

LIM week 73 - Paper Piecing

I'm really gutted, because today I should have been at a workshop Leonie Pujol was holding. But I haven't been well since Thursday evening. I've been sleeping lots over the weekend and trying to do some crafting inbetween and I can't decide if it is a viral infection or my vertigo is back because I have had some hairy dizzy spells. But anyway, enough of the moan, here is my card for this week's Less is More challenge. The challenge this week is Paper Piecing. I remember the first time I saw that on a challenge, I as well as several others read it as Piercing!
I've used a PTI stamp set and you can see below the snippets I used. The handles and top of the basket are actually cut from a strip of the striped paper, you can see the outline of the rest of my stamp. The flowers are cut around roughly but I think it works. I couldn't resist adding some yellow centres to the flowers with a promarker.
So, the evidence below clearly shows this card is also eligible to go into the playground this week at Pixies Crafty Snippet challenge #25. I won't be going on the swings though, dizzy enough as it is!  I'm sorry I didn't do much visiting last week and I am not sure about this week at the moment, see if my health improves.

Delicious Damask

This is my second post today, please scroll down to see my Cardmadfairy DT card and join our Girly challenge.

I'm really pleased with the way this card turned out, I do love blue and white and have lots of blue and white pottery. The challenge on CD Sunday this week is Delicious Damask, so I printed all these elements from the Debbi Moore CD rom Paper Delights "A Touch of Regency" . I used SU Ballet blue ink with a duster to lightly colour the edges of everything. I put a band of ribbon behind the sentiment too, but it hasn't photographed too well. I used one of my spellbinders to cut a couple of accents to highlight the framed flowers. It is a large card for me at 8x8 but I felt it needed the space to do the elements justice.

I'd also like to enter this card into Paperplay challenge- use a die.

Girly challenge at Cardmadfairy

Our challenge over at Cardmadfairy Digi Days Challenge is "girly". For my DT card I have used "all dressed up" one of my favourites from Jenni's fab digi images. I coloured her using promarkers to match the  Pink Petticoat papers which were free with a mag and two strips of a snippet which I punched. The sentiment is from TLC. I dusted a little TH worn lipstick around the card and then to make it really girly I added some lace and glitter to her dress, a little bling in her hair.
Do come and join us for this challenge, I love seeing girly cards, just remember you must use a digi image to enter.
I'd like to enter this card into
Crafts and Me challenge - anything goes
Bunny Zoe Crafts challenge- girls girls girls
Crafty calender challenge - flowers in bloom
Crafty Catz challenge - pastels

A rescued card

Parts of this card may look familiar if you are a regular visitor to my blog. It started life as a Flourish card for Less is More challenge, however, I caught the edge of the card with the ink pad. So rather than throw it away I cover the offending blog with some angelina fibres stamped with a Debbie Moore stamp and added a sentiment from TLC. I brushed some ink over the background with a duster to blend in some of the other little mishaps from the not so  previously CAS card!
I'd like to enter the card into the Creatalicious challenges - who this month have "anything goes".

LIM week 72 - something shiny

If you read my last post you will see I wasn't sure if I had a cold or hayfever, well unfortunately for me it was a cold and I was off on holiday the next day! I felt really rough but managed to get away and also got to go to the Devon Contemporary Craft Fair where I got so much inspiration, oh and a new ring from this lady-
Emily Gliddon I could have bought sooo much more at the fair. Amongst all the many crafts was this lady- Judith Brown-making jewellery from vintage haberdashery items - really amazing, earrings made from hooks and eyes and press studs. Typically I feel better now I am home and back at work today, been on flu tablets all whilst I was away and sneezing for England!

Anyway, onto my card for Less is More this week where it is theme week and the theme is "something shiny". I put some snippets of silver paper through a embossing folder and then used a MS butterfly punch, mounting them onto an offcut piece of card which I ran through another embossing folder. I then stamped the sentiment into the panel. I thought I would then mount it onto some silver mirri card before placing onto a card base. Phew, I can relax now - after all I haven't missed one week of LIM since it started!
Edited to say so many people have asked what embossing folder I used - so here is a link to it, part of a 2 pack.

This is also my snippet card for Pixie's Crafty Snippet challenge #25.

Father's Day

I don't have the need to make Father's days cards any more, but someone asked me to make one with this wording. I've kept it simple and used a digi stamp boutique image, coloured with promarkers and cut and embossed with a label die. Then I used a new embossing folder, a brick effect on some brown paper.
I'd like to enter into these challenges:-
Digistamp Boutique - any of their images
Fab n Funky-Father's Day
Crafty SentimentsFather's Day-
Charisma Cardz - male
C.R.A.F.T. -Father's Day
I hope I did all those links ok! I've got a thick head and a runny nose and cant decide if it is hayfever or a cold. I happened to be at the Dr today so I asked her and she said I would need to wait a few days before I would know!

Beautiful ballerina

I had just printed out this jewellery box digi from Digi my world when I saw that the challenge on CD Sunday this week is Ballerinas! I altered the digi slightly by putting mirri card at the back of the lid to look like a mirror. I printed a background paper and sentiment from MCS cd rom The Finishing Touch and added some Pink Petticoat paper which I punched using the MS Butterfly border. I sprinkled some diamond sparkles over it and added a sheer ribbon and bow. I put some bling on the drawer fronts and around the sentiment. I used to have a very similar box when I was a child, I always wanted to try and take the ballerina out though!

Three circle aperture

I bought a pack of these aperture cards a few weeks ago. They gave me a bit of a headache to put together but I sussed it eventually. This is how it looks
I've used a Pink Gem digi heart and two freebies from Digi Stamp boutique. I've coloured the cupcake case but everything else was ready coloured. I added some diamond sparkles and IRL it looks really pretty! The sentiment is also from Pink Gem and I added some gems to the corners. I'd like to enter this card into these challenges:-
Cupcake Craft Challenge - red, white and blue
Digistamp Boutique challenge
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - be patriotic add crowns or gems.

The theme over on Charisma Cardz challenge this week is Travel. I bought this digi image with the suitcases from Tiddly Inks a while ago and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use her.  I used some elements from a Debbi Moore CDrom - vintage travel and the background paper is cut from my 12x12 stash. I added a little bakers twine, some buttons and a sprinkling of diamond dazzles.

Thinking of you

I've woken up a bit stiff and achy today, probably as a result of all that activity yesterday! Just shows that crafting is better for your health than housework LOL!
I've made this card using elements from Kirtsty Wiseman's CDrom Colourful burst of fanciful things and team it with a piece of Kate Knight paper that I had previously cut out the centre with a nestie for another project. I then cut a nestie frame from some purple card.
So this card is fro Creative Card Crew challenge - song inspired - "Thinking of You" Sister Sledge and for Pixies Crafty Snippets challenge #24.
BTW I am taking it easy today!

LIM week 71 - use a flourish, one layer

I've been such a good girl today! I've been doing housework before making any cards. I steam cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, defrosted the freezer, hoovered by actually moving things (in the craft room too!!)!, and baked these banana muffins from the new book by the winner of the last British Bake Off - Jo Wheatley
Then I sat down to watch some of a Barbara Gray DVD and fell asleep!!!!
Anyway, Chrissie and Mandi want to see flourishes this week on the Less is More Challenge. I've used an Anna Griffin stamp twice and a Big n Juicy Pad  in Hydrangea. The sentiment is from a Debbie Moore stamp set.
Before you go just to share this tale with you. I needed an orange to zest for the muffins. I bought one yesterday in Tesco priced 25p (I know!) got home and realised that the checkout lad had charged me for a Clementine which made it 66p! I did see him having a bit of a faff with it but thought no more of it. It isn't worth the petrol or time to go back so I decided on a different route and wrote on their facebook wall with this picture, the mug to show the size difference. Pointing out that surely there staff should be trained to know the difference between an orange and a Clementine.
At first they just said they could understand how frustrating it was and to go back and get their twice the difference refund. I pointed out I was making the muffins and would not have the orange to take back and then got someone else who offered to put the difference onto my clubcard which I accepted. Sorry for the long post - you are probably ready for a sleep yourselves now!
I'd also like to enter this card into Oldie but a Goodie challenge - anything goes, the A Griffin stamps I bought last summer from QVC. BTW I made their top three on the last challenge - thanks very much.

Kraft on

It's been a really horrible rainy day here today, in common I think with most places. After going into work for two days this week I had today off - unfortunately I haven't done a lot of crafting as housework was calling!

Please scroll down for my first post of today which is my DT card for Cardmadfairy digi challenge.

I did manage to make this card inspired by two challenges CD Sunday challenge - green, Delicious Doodles challenge-for the fellas and Paperplay challenge - back to kraft basics. I'm not a big fan of green but remembered that there was this green version of the union jack on MCS cdrom Jewel Britannia, it has also turned out to be a male card so one for the very scant collection I have LOL!

Cardmadfairy challenge - masculine or Father's day

The theme on the Cardmadfairy's digi days challenge this fortnight is masculine or Father's day. I've chosen to use Zac and the "you rock" star to work with. You can buy both of the digis along with lots of other fab ones here.I coloured him with promarkers and took the star into MCS to recolour it blue. The background is freebie papers and I took a piece of white card and embossed it with large dots, then using a versamark pen carefully rubbed over alternate rows of dots and dusted with perfect pearls.
Thanks for looking and I do hope you can join in the challenge over the next two weeks, just remember you do have to use a digi to be eligible to enter.
I'd like to enter this card into C.R.A.F.T challenge - male card.

A little jar of love

I've been wanting to use this stamp set for ages and decided this was my opportunity! It is by Little Musings and you get different things to fill the jar with and alter the sentiment. It is very similar to another company (!) but was much cheaper! However I have filled it with hearts using the SU punch cut from mainly PTI papers, I snook in a couple of SU and a little promarker coloured union jack to keep it topical LOL. I also stamped some of the hearts from the stamp set. Added some ribbon and used kraft cardstock, which I scored so it has a spine - just for a change.
I'd like to enter this card into:- A Passion for Papertrey challenge  a right royal challenge
Daring Cardmakers challenge - red, white and blue
Bunny Zoe Crafts challenge - anything goes.

Itty bitty snippets

Nice and simple snippet card from me this week. I used a digi image and sentiment from a firm no longer trading called digisparkle. I then used a snippet from my box and punched out three shapes using two of the SU itty bitty punches and the heart punch. Add a little bit of bling into each of the negative spaces, after stamping in white craft ink the corresponding stamp. Then I put the positives at the top of the card.
Right skipping off to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Snippet's challenge #23 with this now.

LIM week 70 red white and blue

Ok so I am later than usual with my Less is More challenge card, but I made three so hopefully that makes up for it LOL! This week is a colour challenge and it's red, white and blue.  I've used digi stamps from Pink Gem from their Best of British range for the cards and the digi heart paper is from the same set of stamps. I added my own text on the "address lines" of the postcard using MCS. I'm still loving the red, white and blue theme - lots more ideas and goodies to use to.
I'd also like to enter the cards into Polka Doodles challenge- regal colours diamond jubilee and Moving Along with the Times - red white and blue.

My favourite things - Penny Black & More @ Allsorts

Aren't Penny Black great, they made a set of stamps especially for me! Well, that's how it feels, because this set of stamps just sums up perfectly all my favourite things - fashion, shoes, handbags, cocktails, and convertibles. As soon as I saw them I realised I had to have them. They are also perfect for the challenge we have this month over on Penny Black & More @ Allsorts which this month is "All my favourite things".

For my DT card I've stamped the images and then coloured them with promarkers and fleximarkers, adding a little embossed panel to the side section before punching out the smaller detail stamps. I added a little glitter to the pink dress around the collar and to the windscreen of the car.

Please do come over and have a look at the lovely cards my teamies have created - I'd love to see your favourite things too, you have a whole month to enter with some fab prizes on offer. Just remember we don't accept any digi images.
